Taylor, Albuquerque, No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 Team on the Hunt to Secure the Acura DPi’s First Victory at Long Beach

Brownsburg, Ind. (September 21, 2021) – Current 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship leaders Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 team will compete at the fan favorite 1.968 mile, 11-turn Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach street course after a dominant pole to podium win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca earlier this month.

In their seven trips to Long Beach, the team has three victories, five podiums, two poles and have led 183 laps. Ricky Taylor has scored his three wins (2015-17) at the circuit while previously driving with Wayne Taylor Racing, most recently he finished second in 2019, which is Acura’s best finish at the street circuit.

“Long Beach is a big home race for Acura and over the past two attempts, victory has eluded us,” said the two-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champion Ricky Taylor. “The circuit has been dominated by Cadillac. With only two races remaining in our season, a win would not only be sweet for victory on Acura’s home soil but also take the pressure off us going into the Petit Le Mans endurance race in November. We finally flipped the momentum mid-season and are back to winning. It feels good to be back on the right side of it, but we need to keep our heads down because we still have a big target on our backs.”

With a 100% success rate along the streets of Long Beach, Filipe Albuquerque enters the weekend with two previous wins from 2018 and 2019. The Portuguese driver will look to secure another victory at the historic circuit and the first for Acura.

“I’m definitely very pumped because it’s such a very special event and track,” commented Filipe Albuquerque. “The momentum coming from a win at Laguna Seca helps our whole team. We need to continue the good work; the job is not done yet and we still have two races to go. Long Beach is the home of Acura, so we all want to do well. We are going to give our best. The pressure is more on the other side than our side. We had the pressure that we needed to win at Laguna and now they have the pressure to win in Long Beach.”

“Going into Laguna we couldn’t really get ourselves into the points situation because when we’ve been leading for so long and the points gap was getting narrower and narrower, we needed to focus on one race at time,” said team owner Wayne Taylor. “We did that at Laguna where Filipe got the pole, Ricky finished the race and we won. It really helped us. Now as we head to Long Beach it will be difficult because the Cadillacs has quite a bit of an edge. Like my team always done, they always pull something out. I’m relying on all of them and it’s a win-win, we have to win.”

Practice for the 100-minute sprint race begins on Friday, September 24th at 12:45 p.m. ET with qualifying following at 7:50 p.m. ET. Green flag for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach will wave at 5:05 p.m. ET. Live coverage will begin at 5:00 p.m. ET on NBC Sports and TrackPass on NBC Sports.

Violet Defense Joins Roush Fenway as Official Partner

Will Serve as Primary Partner on both No. 6 and No. 17 in Select Races

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 21, 2021) – Violet Defense – an Orlando-based germ-killing company with patented UV technology – has entered into a multi-year partnership with Roush Fenway Racing. As part of the deal that runs through the 2023 season, Violet Defense will serve as the primary partner for a combined four races in the remaining 2021 season on both Ryan Newman and Chris Buescher’s Ford Mustangs. For the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Violet Defense will continue to be featured on the No. 6 car for multiple races, and join Brad Keselowski as he makes his debut with Roush Fenway in the 2022 season.

As part of the partnership, Violet Defense will also be identifying opportunities to protect the Roush Fenway team with its UV disinfection technology, both at the track and at their headquarters operations in Concord, N.C.

“We are excited to be supporting the Roush Fenway team, both on and off the track,” said Terrance Berland, CEO of Violet Defense. “It is our goal to continue to find new and innovative ways to deploy our UV disinfection solutions to help keep the athletes and staff healthy and at the top of their game. And we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of Brad’s inaugural season with the team, and look forward to the energy around his arrival.”

The brand makes its debut during the Sept. 26 race weekend at Las Vegas on the No. 17 Ford for the first of two consecutive primary events, with the second being the high-speed race at Talladega Superspeedway a week later. Newman will carry the colors of Violet Defense for the first time at Texas on Oct. 17, and again a week later at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 24.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Violet Defense to the Roush Fenway family,” said Steve Newmark, President of Roush Fenway Racing. “Their expertise as a company is a perfect fit for us on the track and off, and their services are especially critical during times like these. Their messaging and branding will undoubtedly stand out at their upcoming races, and we look forward to working with their team this fall and for years to come.”

Buescher will make his 11th Cup start at Las Vegas where this spring he ran 14th. Overall in ‘Sin City,’ Hall of Fame owner Jack Roush has 16 wins including seven in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The annual fall event at Talladega will be packed full of action as Buescher is slated for his 13th start at the 2.66-mile Superspeedway, where last fall he crossed the line sixth. Roush Fenway has eight Talladega wins all-time, including five in the NCS with the most recent coming in 2017.

Texas Motor Speedway is the site of 18 wins for Jack Roush including nine in the Cup Series, and also the site of one of Newman’s 18 wins all-time. He went to victory lane back in 2003 in just his second Cup outing at the 1.5-mile track, and has three top-15s in his last four starts at the track.

Kansas wraps up Violet Defense’s four-race slate in the 2021 NASCAR Playoffs, a track where Roush has four Cup victories with three different drivers. It is also the place where Newman made his first-ever Cup start, and his start there this spring served as career No. 700, joining an elite list of only three active drivers with that feat. Newman also won at Kansas in 2003.

● While the NASCAR Playoffs have been in existence since 2004, it wasn’t until 2014 that rounds were added, with three separate cuts whittling down the 16-driver field during the 10-race playoffs. After the first three playoff races, the four lowest drivers in points get eliminated. Then, after the next three races, only the top-eight drivers move on. Three more races follow, with only the top-four drivers advancing to the Championship 4 where they compete in a winner-take-all title match in the season finale. Harvick is in the midst of his 12th consecutive playoff appearance and his 15th overall. He has now advanced out of the Round of 16 in all eight editions of the current playoff format. Coming into this season, he had advanced all the way to the Round of 8 since 2014, and five times he’s competed in the Championship 4, winning the NASCAR Cup Series title in 2014.
● Harvick comes into Las Vegas on a three-race top-10 streak, a run punctuated by a strong second-place drive last Saturday night at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway where he led three times for 71 laps. Before finishing second at Bristol, Harvick finished eighth Sept. 11 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway and fifth Sept. 4 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. Harvick has finished among the top-15 in the last nine races, a streak that began July 11 with an 11th-place result at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
● Since joining SHR in 2014, Harvick has finished among the top-10 in seven of the 11 NASCAR Cup Series races contested at Las Vegas. In that span, Harvick has led 621 laps and won twice – March 2015 and March 2018
● Harvick’s win at Las Vegas in March 2018 was his 100th career victory across NASCAR’s top-three national touring series – Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck. He has since scored 19 more Cup wins to bring his tally to 119 total victories – 58 in Cup, 47 in Xfinity and 14 in Truck. Only three other drivers in NASCAR history have surpassed 100 wins across NASCAR’s top-three series: Kyle Busch (222 wins), Richard Petty (200 wins) and David Pearson (106 wins).
● Harvick has a total of 12 top-10s at Las Vegas, the most of any active NASCAR Cup Series driver. Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano are next best with 11 top-10s apiece.
● Harvick has made 11 starts in the Xfinity Series at Las Vegas. He has two wins, six top-fives and seven top-10s. His first Xfinity Series win came in 2004 when he started 11th and led 14 laps. His second triumph came in 2010 when he started second and led 82 laps.
● Harvick has made three Truck Series starts at Las Vegas, earning two top-10s with a best finish of eighth in 1997.

Kevin Harvick, Driver of the No. 4 Subway Delivery Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing

You’ve won at Las Vegas twice and have finished among the top-10 there seven times since joining SHR in 2014. What do you need to be quick at Las Vegas?

“Las Vegas has a lot of tire fall off, so it’ll be important to have a good-handling Subway Delivery Ford Mustang. It’s also a track where you’re constantly moving around trying to find the right grip.”

You advanced to the Round of 12 for the eighth straight time. What do you need to do in theses next three races to advance to the Round of 8?

“Right now, we’re just taking it one week at a time. That’s really the best way to go about it, and see where it all falls in the end.”

Does the intensity of the racing increase after each playoff round?

“For us, there’s no intensity dialed up. It’s exactly the same as it would be for the first race of the season, the second race, the third race. We try to approach things the same way, whether we’re running well or running badly, and whether or not it’s a cutoff race. You try to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s and control all the things that you can control, perform at a high level and do the things that you know how to do, whether it’s me in the car or Rodney (Childers, crew chief) on the pit box or everybody around us, it just takes the execution of a complete race. Our team has done a great job of that all year. Obviously, our cars have not performed to the level that we’d have liked them to perform, but we’ve been getting the finishes that we have and keeping ourselves around. We just keep plugging away and keep trying to reach out and do what we can by getting good finishes and not making any mistakes. That’s really what it boils down to this time of year. It doesn’t matter how you get there, it just matters if you advance or you don’t advance, and a lot of times it comes by controlling the things that you can control.”

You were very consistent throughout the regular season and that has continued into the playoffs. How important is it to maintain that consistency?

“We’ve gone about this a number of different ways throughout the years. We’ve pointed our way through and we’ve won our way through when our backs were against the wall. You’ve got to take what each race will give you, and there’s no way you can force things. That’s where a lot of people get themselves in trouble – when they start trying to do things outside their comfort zone of where their car is that particular day. Some days you have what you have and you need to get that finish with your car, and if you do that, usually you finish better than probably you would have otherwise. Las Vegas is no different. We’ll just have to go out there and grind away and see where we end up.”

Wilzoch Flies the Lizard Porsche to Two GT America Podiums at Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (September 20, 2021) – Flying Lizard Motorsports returned to the podium at Watkins Glen International once again this weekend, following a standout performance from driver Andy Wilzoch in the No. 460 Porsche 911 GT3 R in GT America powered by AWS. Wilzoch, who has recently returned to the series to finish out the season, earned two podium finishes after two exciting races in Upstate New York.

Due to oil on the track during practice sessions one and two, Friday left Wilzoch and the crew with
little data and set-up feedback for Saturday qualifying preparation. Great teamwork had the car
performing strongly and Wilzoch earn a third-place starting position for race one. Soon after the green flag dropped, a battle developed between the No. 88 and No. 191 Lamborghinis ahead of the Porsche. Wilzoch attacked the first half of the race closing the gap to this battle aligning him to overtake out-of-class Jason Harward in the No. 88 just before entering a full course yellow. With the field now stacked, the lapped GT4 cars mixed in with the front runners, making the restart strategy aggressive. With only three and a half minutes remaining as the race returned to green, Wilzoch and Harward exchanged positions again and the Flying Lizard Porsche took the checkered flag securing a spot on the podium of third in the Masters class.

Wilzoch’s second-fastest race lap on Saturday set the tone for Sunday’s race two battle, placing Wilzoch to start second overall. In lap one, Jeff Burton in the No. 191 Lamborghini took the inside of turn one exchanging positions with the Lizard Porsche. With a comfortable gap ahead of the rest of the field, the three leaders battled with tight and consistent lap times. Homed in on Charlie Luck in the No. 45 Porsche, Wilzoch was able to make the pass reclaiming second place just before the front runners began lapping the back of the pack. The slower traffic did not play into Wilzoch’s favor and he was unable to stretch the gap from Luck in third as far as he wanted. With just one lap remaining, Wilzoch and Luck went side-by-side through turn nine. Contact was made between the two Porsches and Wilzoch recovered to finish the race third in class.

GT America powered by at Sebring International Raceway brings Flying Lizard Motorsports eastbound and down October 1-3 for a non-championship points event. For more event information, visit gtamerica.us.

Driver Quote
Andy Wilzoch | No. 460 Porsche 911 GT3 R
I wish we could have had more track time this weekend, but despite the limited practice, everyone at Flying Lizard did a great job giving me a strong car for the two races. It was great to be back on the podium after some intense battles out there. I’m looking forward to Sebring and getting even more track time before the season comes to a close.

The team also had a successful weekend at Utah Motorsport Campus for the latest rounds of the Yokohama Drivers Cup with drivers Chris Bellomo and Mike Gaulke. Both drivers entered the weekend leading their respective championships, and extended their points leads with further on-track success. Bellomo won two out of his three races in the Platinum class, racing his Porsche GT3 Cup Car, and Gaulke had a weekend sweep in his Porsche Cayman GT4, winning all three races in the Silver class. The final event of the season will take place at Flying Lizard’s home track, Sonoma Raceway, October 15-17. For more information, visit competentmotorsport.com.

Which Two Drivers Locked Horns in NASCAR Racing?

Auto racing, more than any other sport, is loaded with danger and uncertainty; even the tiniest movement by a driver can result in six-figure damage to the car, as well as death or serious injury to himself or other racers. Every lap in NASCAR is dangerous, and the racers and fans are extremely competitive. Because this activity is so intense and fierce, gamblers enjoy watching this racing sport and they like to place a bet on where the drivers will finish, if you have been looking for an online casino that gives fantastic promotions, offers, and a good welcome package but are struggling to find one, you do not need to be searching anymore as these are available, you will come across a list of casinos that have been compiled by our team of passionate gambling experts.

Within NASCAR racing consider the main personality traits on the racetrack, you have fearlessness, confidence (on the verge of arrogance), and a mental determination to win. It should come as no surprise that many of the world’s top racers can’t seem to keep out of trouble.

Furthermore, in this article, we look at the two divisive drivers that have proven themselves in NASCAR racing.

Tim Richmond – Richmond, who came from an open-wheel background was penalized in the NASCAR world simply for being an open-wheel driver. It didn’t help that he didn’t understand how cars operated, which irritated those with were extremely passionate about cars.

According to some, he was a flamboyant and thrilling driver with as much pure talent as anyone in NASCAR history. Richmond, who inspired Tom Cruise’s character in Days of Thunder, was a wild party animal who always seemed to have a woman under his arm. In 1987, illness pushed him out of the automobile, and he never returned. At the age of 34, he died of AIDS two years later, in 1989.

Dale Earnhardt – Earnhardt became a beloved character after his death, but he was also recognized for his rough or violent driving at times, earning him the nicknames “The Man in Black” and “The Intimidator.”.

He was a part of some of the sport’s most high-profile rivalries, his death was also controversial, resulting in lawsuits over safety equipment, the publication of photos by the medical examiner, and his life insurance policy. Even now, 20 years after his death, there are still some debates about whether his Number 3 car should be used in another Cup race.

Why You Should Spend a Little Extra Money to Keep Your Car in Tip-Top Shape

Photo by Ildar Garifullin on Unsplash

Many car owners tend to neglect car maintenance because they think that it is something that they can just put off at any time. The reason behind this is because there are so many other things that need our attention throughout the day, and spending a few minutes on car care doesn’t seem worth it. However, regular car maintenance comes with a lot of benefits that car owners should not neglect.

Car owners tend to ignore car maintenance until something goes wrong with their vehicles. Unfortunately, failing to invest in regular car maintenance will lead car owners to spend more money than they need, as car repairs tend to be expensive. Car owners who neglect car maintenance will find themselves at risk of car accidents, car failure, and car breakdowns at any time.

Why Regular Car Maintenance is Important

Keeping your car well-maintained is easy enough given that car owners have car maintenance tools at their disposal and given that they know how to use car maintenance tools properly. Car owners can make car repairs on their own but should leave more complicated maintenance tasks to car mechanics. This way, car owners will be able to guarantee that their cars remain in tip-top shape all the time. Below are the reasons why regular car maintenance is important:

  • Regular car maintenance helps car owners save more money down the line

Car maintenance is cheaper compared to car repairs. Therefore, car owners will save money in the long run if they keep up with car maintenance regularly. After all, a well-maintained car will not require expensive repairs now and then. This is because these cars will be able to run and function smoothly all the time. Therefore, car owners will benefit from spending a little on car maintenance compared to not spending on car maintenance at all but spending a lot on car repairs down the line.

Regular car checkups are the best way to ensure that car parts don’t fail unexpectedly, requiring car owners more money for repairs or replacement than they had anticipated on spending in the first place. Sticking with regular car maintenance is one of the most proactive measures that car owners can take to ensure the car’s durability and efficiency.

  • Regular car maintenance increases safety while driving

Unmaintained car parts increase car risks while driving. If car owners do not regularly check their cars, they will be putting themselves and others in danger every time they get behind the wheel of a car that is not running smoothly or has faulty brakes. Regularly maintained cars are safer to drive since these vehicles have fewer mechanical problems than poorly maintained cars that require more car repairs or car replacements.

  • Regular car maintenance increases car lifespan

When car owners stick to regular car checkups, they increase their chances of having a longer-lasting vehicle since these cars have better parts that last longer without requiring too many costly replacements down the line. These cost savings will come in handy later on when it comes time to do car repairs.

Car owners can also invest in aesthetic improvements and car maintenance such as ceramic car coating, car wax, car window tinting, and more. Aesthetic improvements on a car will make it look even newer and increase car value simultaneously.

  • Regular car maintenance increases car efficiency and boosts car fuel economy

Proper car care ensures that a car’s engine is running as efficiently as possible, thus increasing gas mileage since the overall performance of an automobile is directly related to its mechanical health. Many new drivers tend to neglect their cars for this reason, but car efficiency can be increased by regular maintenance and car care.

  • Regular car maintenance helps car owners benefit from their cars more effectively

Cars are very useful assets that can transport people from one place to another. Therefore, car owners need to invest in regular car maintenance to ensure that their cars are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. This way, their cars will be able to fulfill their purpose efficiently. Car owners will feel that they have gotten the best value for the money they paid for their cars. After all, cars are very expensive. Therefore, car owners will expect their cars to work smoothly all the time.

Putting Car Maintenance First

Car owners should always prioritize car maintenance because car maintenance is the best bet in ensuring that their cars will be working properly all the time. The goal should be to avoid damages as much as possible so car owners will not have to spend more on replacing or repairing car parts. Car owners can guarantee this by always giving theircarsthe care it deserves.

BLAKE ROWE SCORES THRILLING ARCA/CRA GLASS CITY WIN; CAYDEN LAPCEVICH NOTCHES OUTLAW VICTORY

CAYDEN LAPCEVICH WINS, BLAKE ROWE TAKES THRILLING ARCA/CRA GLASS CITY WIN

Toledo, Ohio-September 18, 2021: Cayden Lapcevich was the winner in the 100 lap Outlaw Super Late Model feature, while Blake Rowe pulled the big surprise of the night, leading only the final lap in one of the best races in the history of this event as he captured top honors for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s Late Models Saturday night at the Central Transport Glass City 200 presented by Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn and DTS Drive Train Specialists at Toledo Speedway. Kaden White took the CRA Jr. Late Model victory on a very pleasant evening. Carson Lucas took the Jr. Late Model championship.

The 9-car inversion put Nick Bailey and Ray Clay on the front row. Bailey grabbed the point for the first 3 laps, with Harold Fair Jr. taking the lead on lap 4. Fast qualifier Steve Needles and Lapcevich were on the move quickly as Cayden was up to third and Needles to fourth spot by lap 9. Lapcevich reeled in Fair, while Needles, the defending race winner, went down pit road in a cloud of smoke on lap 19, ending his bid for repeat. Lapcevich pushed Bob Blount’s #16 into the number 1 spot on lap 20 and set sail, building up a solid lead. Frank Jiovani was up to third by lap 37, while Scott Hantz pitted and was done for the day on lap 45 while running fourth. At lap 50, the top 5 were Lapcevich, Fair Jr., Jiovani, Dennis Strickland and Nick Bailey.

Cayden continued to dominate the contest through the second half of the 100-lap feature as he sailed to the win, while Harold Fair Jr. and Dennis Strickland battled door to door over the final 20 laps for the second spot, with Fair Jr. grabbing the runner-up position. Strickland was third, Mike Root fourth and Conner Zbozien, in his first-ever Toledo start, took fifth. Nick Bailey, Scott Pemberton, Claude Plante Jr., Austin Thiel and Trever McCoy completed the top ten. Dennis Rederstorf, George Rangel, Jiovani, Dean Gassert, Hantz, Clay, Todd Perkins and Needles completed the finishing order. Steve Cronenwett Jr.’s day ended with engine trouble during his qualifying laps.

The night’s finale’ will go down as one of the top races and best finishes in Glass City history and Toledo history, for that fact. A sensational battle up front for the final 20 laps saw Blake Rowe stun the field and the crowd, taking the lead on the white flag lap, nosing under Kyle Crump to steal the victory. Hunter Jack led the first 42 laps, until Carson Hocevar took control of the event. Carson held the point and had a comfortable advantage as Brian Campbell moved into the top 3, as he and Hunter tried to stay within striking distance of Hocevar, the current NASCAR Truck Series leading Rookie and title contender.

Carson jumped back out front again, choosing the second lane of the lap 74 restart. Jack, the point leader going into the event, retired on lap 73 while running second, while Campbell’s night ended on lap 76, going pit-side with mechanical issues. Crump, who started at the tail of the field for an impound infraction, had now moved into contention with a shot at the number 1 spot. The yellow flew again on lap 80 when Scott Tomasik spun, setting up the sensational final 20 laps.

Kyle dove under Carson on the lap 80 restart, as that duo swapped paint and fenders lap after lap. 2 laps later, Crump took the top spot, using the high groove as Hocevar came right back to get side by side with Kyle. On lap 96, the pair flipped lanes, sending Crump to the bottom. The next lap, the pair banged wheels going into turn 1, with Hocevar sliding up the track and coming to a stop, bringing out the yellow and Carson to the tail of the pack.

On the lap 97 restart, Dalton Armstrong was now on the high side of Crump, but fell back at the green flag. Rowe, who had reeled in the leaders, now was in the mix as he dove under Kyle. At the white, Rowe nosed by Kyle, took the lead and the crowd rose to its feet as Crump again darted low coming out of turn 4, getting to the front tires of Rowe’s #57, just inches short as Blake Rowe scored the huge upset win over Crump, Hocevar, Jack Smith, Armstrong, Rick Turner, Cody Coughlin, Scott Tomasik, Albert Francis and Bill Burba. This was Rowe’s first race at the Glass City oval. Campbell, Hunter Jack, Brandon Varney, Evan Varney and Tanner Jack were next in line at the finish.

As a note, this story will never be able to do justice to the incredible and exiting final 20 laps of the ARCA/CRA race…Glass City history, to be sure!

The CRA Jr. Late Models ran a 25-lap contest on the short track for their championship event for the 2021 season. Kaden White topped Keegan Sobilo and Carson Lucas in the feature event, with Lucas notching the Season title. Carson took the heat race win.

In pre-race ceremonies, 2000 Glass City 200 winner Tim Ice was introduced as the Grand Marshal of the event. Tim was presented with a Lifetime ARCA Gold Card membership from Toledo Owner and Promoter Ron Drager. Larry Varney of LV Alliance presented trophies to the Fast Qualifiers Steve Needles for the Outlaws (15:014) and Hocevar (15:593). Both drivers also collected a $300 bonus from Varney for their quick times.

Frank Jiovani, George Rangel, Mike Root, Nick Bailey and Dennis Rederstorf won the DTS Drive Train Specialists $100 product certificates in a random draw held at the drivers meeting. Lapcevich also won the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts $200 Hard Charger award and the $100 Dee and Dennis Figley Half-Way bonus. All in, Lapcevich and car owner Blount collected $6050 on the night.

Clean Harbors and Safety-Kleen conducted a drawing on race day for fans for a NASCAR Driving Experience and an item autographed by Richard Petty. The company also posted bonus money for the Outlaw Super Late Model portion of the event.

Additional sponsors include Bazell Race Fuels, LV Alliance, Penske Shocks, R & M Recycling, Fastime Racing Engines and Parts, Silverback Supply, A & M Transmissions of Flat Rock, Penske Shocks, Innovative Fluids, LLC, ABC Plumbing and Jim’s Butcher Shop of Flat Rock.
