Coca-Cola 6 Pack Athlete, Olympic Medalist and 200m World Champion Noah Lyles to Serve as Grand Marshal for Coke Zero Sugar 400

Rick Cardenas of Darden Restaurants Will Waive the Green Flag as Honorary Starter of “Last-Chance” Race at Daytona International Speedway That Will Determine the 16-Driver NASCAR Playoff Field

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 26, 2021) – Noah Lyles, a Coca-Cola 6-pack Athlete and Tokyo 2020 Olympic medalist, will serve as the Grand Marshal for Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400, the last-chance race for drivers to make the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs at Daytona International Speedway.

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 (7:30 p.m. ET start) is the final race of NASCAR’s premier series’ regular season, and with only one spot remaining to be filled in the 16-driver playoff field, a total of 15 competitors has a shot to punch their ticket to the championship run. While Lyles will give the famous “Drivers Start Your Engines” command, Rick Cardenas, President and Chief Operating Officer of Darden Restaurants, will be high atop the flagstand and be the race’s Honorary Starter.

“I’m very excited to be Grand Marshal of the Coke Zero Sugar 400,” said track and field athlete Lyles, who won the bronze in 200m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. “My whole life is built around speed, and it is great to see these drivers doing the same. I’m looking forward to this year’s race.”

Lyles is the current world champion and fourth fastest man ever in the 200m race. He won two gold medals at the 2019 World Championships in the 200m and 4x100m relay. In 2018 he joined Usain Bolt as the only two men in history to run four sub-19.70 times in the 200m in one year. Born in Alexandria, VA, he currently resides in Clermont, FL.

Cardenas was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Darden Restaurants in January 2021. In this role, he is responsible for all restaurant operations as well as supply chain, development, franchising & international and consumer insights. Darden owns and operates more than 1,800 Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Yard House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s restaurants in North America.

Entering the summer classic Coke Zero Sugar 400, 15 drivers have secured their position in NASCAR’s Playoffs, but on the outside looking in, are another 15 drivers, who, with a win, can automatically punch their ticket towards a championship run in NASCAR’s premier series. Last year, William Byron pulled off the feat, capturing his first Cup Series win and a spot in the NASCAR Playoffs.

Parker Retzlaff returns to ARCA Menards Series East competition at Milwaukee Mile

WEST ALLIS, Wisc.: Set to compete four hours or 250 miles from his hometown of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, teenager Parker Retzlaff returns to the ARCA Menards Series East scene eyeing his first career victory in Sunday afternoon’s Sprecher 150 at the famed Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile.

Circumstances out of Retzlaff’s controls sidelined him in the series’ most recent race at Iowa Speedway last month, but rejuvenated and ready to the No. 42 Paul Senft & Sons Trenching Toyota for Cook Racing Technologies for battle, Retzlaff is hoping to pick up right where he left off at Southern National Motorsports Park (SNMP) in June.

Starting a career-best third in the Southern National 200, Retzlaff maintained pace throughout the 200-lap and finished third earning his first career ARCA Menards Series East top-five finish in 11 career starts.

“I’m stoked about getting back in the No. 42 Paul Senft & Sons Trenching | Ponsse Toyota this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile,” added Retzlaff. “Having to sit out Iowa was probably the hardest thing in my career so far, but I realize that there is going to be some challenges and bump along the way and I’m focused on getting back behind the wheel and continuing our pace from Southern National.”

While the ARCA Menards Series hasn’t visited the famed one-mile oval in 14 years, Retzlaff is hoping for the decade and a half sabbatical will put the field on a level playing field for Sunday’s 150-lap race.

“Even though most of the field doesn’t have experience at the Milwaukee Mile, I think it is going to be a very competitive race where there is going to be little to no room for error. I’m taking all the steps I can to prepare myself for the race on Sunday.

“I know Bruce (Cook, owner) and my crew chief Amber (Slagle) are bringing me a fast and competitive car and hopefully it will lead us to Victory Lane. That would certainly put an exclamation point on everything that we’ve had to encounter in 2021.”

An accomplished iRacer, Retzlaff has turned to the popular motorsports simulation program to turn thousands of laps at the one-mile oval not only in private testing but actual race simulations to aid him ahead of his 12th career ARCA Menards Series East start.

“I am really hoping that the hours that I have spent on iRacing at the Milwaukee Mile will help on Sunday,” added Retzlaff. “iRacing without a doubt has made me a better race car driver and I’m hoping that my weeks of preparation will help ease the real-life transition on Sunday.”

Franksville, Wisc. based Paul Senft & Sons Trenching will serve as the co-primary partner of Retzlaff’s No. 42 Ponsse Toyota.

Absolute Realtors, Eco-Tracks, Global Fabrication Inc., GrilleAdz, Iron Horse Loggers, Klinner Insurance, MMI and Sunwest Construction and Zamp Racing Products will all join as associate partners for the 150-lap race on Aug. 29.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to have a stack of companies that believe in me and our Cook Racing Technologies team,” added Retzlaff. “We earned them some time in the spotlight this season, it’s important to keep that going this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile.”

Despite missing the most recent ARCA Menards Series East race at Iowa Speedway, Retzlaff secures seventh in the championship standings, 36 points from fifth with two ARCA Menards Series East races remaining.

Sunday’s Sprecher 150 will be ARCA’s sixth-race overall in West Allis, Wisconsin since 1982. The 150-mile race is also a combined ARCA Menards Series premier, ARCA Menards Series East and Sioux Chief Showdown event.

Outside of the cockpit, Retzlaff is an accomplished racer with 1,262 poles, 1,605 wins, 3,155 top-five and more than 67,000 laps led.

Jack Wood Returns to GMS Racing for Full-Time 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Campaign

Statesville, NC – GMS Racing is proud to announce that Jack Wood has been re-signed for the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Wood will compete full-time in the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado with primary backing from Chevrolet.

Wood, who is just twenty-one years of age, initially joined GMS Racing to run the entire ARCA Menards Series schedule for 2021. However in May, it was announced that those plans would change, as the rookie found himself presented with an opportunity to compete in thirteen truck starts throughout the remainder of the season.

Coming off his first-career Top 10 finish in truck series competition, Jack was elated with the news that he would be returning for a full-time effort next season. “I feel extremely honored to be asked to drive for GMS Racing again next year, we have built a lot of momentum over the last few months and I feel strongly that next season will be a very successful one. There has been plenty of learning and ground work built in order to do just that. I would like to thank everyone at GMS Racing and Chevrolet for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to chase my dream. I hope to finish the rest of this year out strong and then take the off season preparing to hit the ground running in 2022 starting at Daytona!”

So far, the California-native has competed in a total of seven NCWTS starts, with highlights including an eleventh place finish at Nashville Superspeedway and a tenth place finish at Worldwide Technology Raceway, his best-career finish in his most recent start. In seven ARCA starts, Wood has four Top 10 finishes with a career-best of fourth place at Kansas Speedway.

Having never raced at any of the facilities on the truck schedule, Wood has learned to overcome the challenge of not having any practice or qualifying by regularly training with the Chevrolet simulator in Huntersville, NC.

GMS Racing President Mike Beam looks forward to seeing the continued growth of Jack Wood’s career as he returns to the organization, saying “We are really excited to welcome Jack Wood back to our truck series program. I feel like this year was a solid learning year for Jack and he progressed a lot in a short amount of time. I am looking forward to him being able to return to tracks and apply what he has learned in 2021.”

In January, Wood was selected to join the Drivers Edge Development class of 2021, a co-op effort between accomplished Chevrolet developmental teams GMS Racing and JR Motorsports. During the week, as part of a strict fitness regimen, Wood trains with Josh Wise and fellow Team Chevy athletes to strengthen his stamina during races, showcasing his dedication to improving overall performance as a driver.

Additional sponsorship and partnership opportunities with Jack Wood and the No. 24 team are available for the 2022 NCWTS season. To inquire about these opportunities, please reach out via email to sara@gmsracing.net.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:
What is your confidence level knowing that Daytona is the final race in the regular season and your last chance to get into the NASCAR Playoffs?
“Yeah, that gives the confidence to you as being the last race of the year. And the situation I am in right now, I think I’ve been in other situations down the road, it would probably be more stressful. But for me, we’re in a little bit of a nothing to lose attitude right now because we’ve got to gain on our teammate, and if not, we’ve got to win somehow. So, Daytona is that place and it gives us an opportunity with our ECR horsepower. I don’t know. We’ve just had the ability to keep that No. 3 at the front when we go to Daytona. I like it. It’s a magical place and I’ve had some great runs there. I’m pumped that it’s the last race of our regular season.”

Last year, Daytona was the regular season finale, you didn’t have to worry about the points situation because you were already locked into the NASCAR Playoffs. Did you notice the racing was much different?
“For some reason, I can’t really recall that particular race. Usually, I’m pretty good at that. But I think we were kind of coasting in because we knew we were in the Playoffs. But Daytona and Talladega always provide a chance for excitement, and with it being the final race of the regular season, there are some that will go about it and say ‘hey, I’ve got to get to the checkered flag to have a chance to have a chance to win,’ and there are some that think they’ve got to lead every lap. I’ll definitely be re-watching the race, and seeing how people played it, and who was aggressive in those moments. It’s so easy to get aggressive and wipe out half the field at Daytona. So many things happen at the speedways with an errant move or an aggressive move and take a lot of people out early. You don’t want to be in that situation. We’ve been successful at the speedways by keeping ourselves up front, but I’ve seen guys get wrecked leading so anything can happen at these places. You’ve got to have a good strategy, a fast car that keeps you out of the way, and a bit of luck.”

Tyler Reddick and the No. 8 Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE at Daytona International Speedway… Reddick has four NASCAR Cup Series starts under his belt at Daytona International Speedway as he enters the final weekend of the regular 2021 season. Reddick, who will have one last chance to make the NASCAR Playoffs this weekend, has won in both the NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Truck Series at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender also has two top-10 finishes and two pole awards in the Xfinity Series at the track.

About Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen… Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is the homestyle casual dining restaurant where guests always Get a lot. For not a lot™. The restaurant offers a variety of scratch-made meals and generous portions served up in a warm, welcoming atmosphere – all at an unbelievable price. After being welcomed with a signature Honey Butter Croissant on the house, guests can enjoy signature entrées like hand-breaded Chicken Tenders, Homemade Chicken Pot Pie and Fall-off-the-Plate Baby Back Ribs. Offer is valid both dine-in and To Go. See cheddars.com/offer/race-day for full details.

TYLER REDDICK QUOTES:
How crazy and wild do you think Daytona will be with drivers having their last shot to make the NASCAR Playoffs?
“I played a big part in that excitement in the last Daytona cutoff race. I think you’ll expect to see drivers that were as desperate as I was in that race to try and get up front and get control of the race and win for their team and all their partners. It’s just going to be a matter of trying to have an understanding in the back of your head or have a point that you kind of have within yourself. Like okay, this is my fun meter. If we can stay within, we’re good. If we go over here, etc. We’re trying to make the Playoffs, right? But we’re also trying to get tenth and get that extra point if we can, too. So, there are a lot of things around. We’re going to try and control what we can. Someone going in and winning that race in Daytona is something that we can’t really control unless we win that race. While it’s a tough spot to be in, I’m excited to be back behind the wheel of the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevrolet and hopefully at the end of the night, we are the ones in Playoffs.”

What does getting into the Playoffs mean to you?
“It’s extremely important. For me, last year it was a goal for our team. We had the trends, and the positives were there for us to get there but some of the mistakes in that rookie season really took us just far enough behind that it was really difficult to overcome. Other drivers were surging late in the season, and it was a difficult time to make up points and we were losing them. This year, it’s even more important considering we were one of the first drivers to miss the Playoffs last year. And then also, for us, we’re sitting 11th in points and have a shot at getting to 10th. We’ve had a really good turnaround from five or six races in. We’ve overcome a big points deficit and we’ve passed a lot of other teams and drivers in points. We’ve run really well for many months now in the season. Making the Playoffs is important, for sure. I think we’re running good enough to make it through the first round and have a really good shot at making it through the second round to round three, honestly. We’re right in that window. So that’s really important to make it into the Playoffs because we are going to have some Playoff points from the Stage wins if things go right, we’ll get some more from where we’re at in the regular season standings. So, a lot is on the line for us in that regard because it’s not a matter of just making the Playoffs. I think where we’re running right now and where our RCR team is going, and Austin Dillon as well. We are good enough to make it go deeper into the Playoffs than just make it a one and done.”

MYATT SNIDER QUOTE:
Has earning a victory so early in the season impacted your driving strategy?
“Absolutely, it takes a lot of stress off our team at this current moment, versus someone who may not have a win and would be in a similar position as me points wise. We know our No. 2 Crosley Brands Chevrolet Camaro is locked in to the Playoffs and we can focus on racing hard each week. Our team has been working hard to determine what is needed to go faster as a group. Part of that is me learning and part of that is us getting the balance of the cars right. Andy Street (crew chief) and I have worked together really well and I think we are starting to hit our stride. Our goal is to shock a few people when it comes to the Playoffs.”

Max Gutiérrez and Rette Jones Racing set for penultimate ARCA East race of 2021

WEST ALLIS, Wisc.: Max Gutiérrez’s rookie ARCA Menards Series East season is approaching the finish line, but with two races remaining in the 2021 season, Rette Jones Racing (RJR) is determined to put the freshman driver back in Victory Lane in Sunday afternoon’s Sprecher 150 at the famed Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile.

In the series’ most recent race at Iowa Speedway, Gutiérrez and his Mark Rette-led team had a solid showing at the 0.875-mile oval, but a tight field and close competition left Gutiérrez with a 12th place finish in the ARCA combined event and definitely more to be desired.

Luckily this weekend at the iconic Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile, most of the ARCA field will be on the same page.

The series returns to the short track after a 14-year hiatus with only one driver entered in the next-to-last ARCA Menards Series East race of the season with previous experience at the track.

Gutiérrez hopes the lack of inexperience for his competitors will put the field on a level playing field.

“I’m excited about getting back in an ARCA car with these Rette Jones Racing guys,” said Gutiérrez. “It’s hard to believe that the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East season is almost over with, but we still have time to get ourselves another win and make our presence known not only on Sunday but next month at Bristol too.”

Not exactly thrilled with his most recent performance at Iowa Speedway, Gutiérrez has hunkered down and focused on trying to better prepare himself for the 150 laps that await him on Aug. 29.

“I take every race seriously, but Milwaukee is an opportunity for our Rette Jones Racing team,” added Gutiérrez. “While there have been some teams and just one driver that has prior experience at The Milwaukee Mile – I’ve been doing what I can looking at photos, watching old races and just doing everything I can to make sure that when the track opens for practice, we can take advantage of the time allotted.

“The track is going to be green for a lot of us, so we just have to focus on making sure we get our No. 30 TOUGHBUILT Ford Fusion dialed in during practice and then make the right adjustments for qualifying and the race that keep us in the hunt.”

With two races remaining in 2021, Gutiérrez remains mathematically in the fight for the championship sitting fourth in the series standings, 30 points behind leader Sammy Smith and 11 markers behind current runner-up Mason Diaz.

The 18-year-old Gutiérrez knows his Rette Jones Racing team will have to be nearly flawless over the next four weeks and contend wins and top-five finishes.

“We’re not out of the championship battle yet and we will do everything we can to remain in that hunt,” he said. “These next two races aren’t going to be easy, but nothing is when it comes to auto racing, but if we can stay focused and out of trouble, hopefully, we’ll find ourselves exactly where we need to be when that checkered flag falls on the season.”

In addition to TOUGHBUILT. TekNekk and Jimmy Morales Escuderia TELMEX | TELCEL, BolsaDX.mx, Distributed Ledger Inc. (DLI), GoGig, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as partners this weekend.

Championship or not, Rette is happy with the efforts of his driver and team.

“We are going to Milwaukee this weekend with the same mentality that we’ve had all season long,” Rette sounded. “We’re here to win. But if for whatever reason we can’t, we will do what we can to bring home the best finish possible for all of our partners and everyone who supports Rette Jones Racing.

“Milwaukee is going to be tough. It’s another new track, but I think Max will adapt well. He has proven time and time again this season that he is a quick learner. Hopefully, the homework that he gave himself will pay off and we bring home our second win of the season.”

In eight career ARCA Menards Series East starts, Gutiérrez has one win, two top-five and five top-10 finishes and hoists a series’ average finish of 8.8 over two years.

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

The Sprecher 150 (150 laps | 150 miles) is the seventh of eight races on the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East schedule. Practice begins Sun., Aug. 29 with a forty-five-minute practice session from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. A timed General Tire pole qualifying session is set for a short time later at 11:30 a.m. The race is set to take the green flag shortly after 2:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on MAVTV and NBC Sports Gold Pass. ARCARacing.com will also stream live timing and scoring throughout the day’s festivities. All times are local (CT).

Notes of Interest

● Almirola is officially locked into the 2021 NASCAR playoffs. This is the fourth consecutive playoff appearance in Almirola’s four years at Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) and fifth playoff appearance of his 12-year career.

● Not only will Almirola be in pursuit of his first Cup Series championship when the playoffs begin Sept. 5 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, he hopes to continue Tampa Bay’s recent sports successes by capping off the regular season with another Cup Series win at Daytona, adding to the accomplishments of his hometown teams – back-to-back Stanley Cup championships are held by the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, last year’s World Series appearance by Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays, and this year’s Super Bowl championship by the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

● History at Daytona: Almirola scored his first career Cup Series win in the rain-shortened July 2014 race at Daytona, when he led 14 laps. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he started on the pole in his first outing in July 2007, and he captured a win there while piloting the No. 98 Biagi-Den Beste Ford Mustang in July 2016. Almirola also has three Daytona starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with a best finish of 12th. This marks Almirola’s 20th points-paying Cup Series start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

● Almirola’s 2020 season proved successful when he earned a career-high 18 top-10 finishes, six top-fives and led 305 laps. During the season, Almirola went on a five-race streak of top-five finishes and earned nine consecutive top-10s.

● Career Stats: Almirola has career totals of three wins, two poles, 26 top-five finishes, 82 top-10s and 893 laps led in 377 NASCAR Cup Series starts.

● Smithfield Foods celebrates 10 years of partnership with Almirola this season with a special campaign called Taste Victory. As one of the most active partners in NASCAR, Smithfield engages fans all year long by hosting a microsite that provides the opportunity to win when Almirola wins or finishes inside the top-10. When Almirola wins, one fan wins $10,000, and 10 fans win a gift card for each top-10 finish. The microsite also doubles as an Aric Almirola fan page and entertainment source where fans can get behind the wheel of the No. 10 Smithfield Ford with a custom racing game, and learn more about Almirola with fast facts, favorite recipes and custom content about his life on and off the track. Visit www.tastevictory.com to learn more. Thanks to Almirola’s Feb. 11 win in his Duel qualifying race for the Daytona 500 and his July 18 win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, two lucky fans have already won $10,000 each.

● On July 18 at New Hampshire, Almirola claimed the victory after leading 46 laps on the flat, 1.058-mile oval to earn his third career NASCAR Cup Series win. After a year full of adversity and bad luck, the victory put the No. 10 team, which was 27th in the standings and facing a must-win situation if it was going to compete for this year’s Cup Series championship, in prime position to earn one of the 16 coveted berths in the 10-race playoffs that begin Labor Day weekend. Almirola’s award-winning YouTube series “Beyond the 10” captured his entire race day here.

● Beyond the 10 YouTube Series: In 2021, Almirola continues to share his life beyond the No. 10 Ford with season three of his award-winning YouTube series. Fans and media can subscribe on YouTube to see Almirola’s personality on and off the track. Episodes have already featured life as a dad, a husband and an athlete, and it gives fans a unique perspective on what goes on in the life of a professional NASCAR driver. Fans can also follow Almirola’s social media channels: @Aric_Almirola on Twitter and Instagram, and @AricAlmirola on Facebook. Almirola’s latest Beyond the 10 episode addresses the question “are NASCAR drivers athletes” in honor of the Olympic break.

● After the season’s first 25 points-paying events, Almirola and the Smithfield Ford team sit 14th in the playoff standings with 436 points, 568 behind leader Kyle Larson.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

Daytona is such an iconic track. What does it mean to go back there every year as a race fan and a competitor?

“Going back to Daytona is always emotional and brings me a lot of joy because I remember going there as a kid and dreaming of being a racecar driver. Then, seeing my life come full circle from being a kid that sat in the grandstands hoping, wishing and praying and actually getting to do that. I realize I’m super blessed and to have the success I’ve had there winning in Cup, Xfinity and the Duels. I always show up to Daytona with a lot of joy.”

What does it take to win at Daytona?

“Survival. When you go to Daytona, that’s really it. We will have fast racecars – there is no doubt about that. Surviving the wrecks. There will be accidents. There are a lot of people in do-or-die situations to where they have to win to get in (the playoffs), so there is going to be a lot of desperation on the track and it will create a lot of intensity and drama. Just making sure you’re in the right place at the right time, which you can’t always predict, is the key – being there at the end.”

You’ve made the playoffs four years in a row. Are you proud of this feat and what does it mean to you to never miss the playoffs at Stewart-Haas Racing?

“Of course, that’s what every driver wants, a shot to win a championship. That’s on my radar. I want to be a champion. I want to be at the top of the top and, in order to do that, you have to make the playoffs and we’ve done that now four years in a row. I’m extremely proud of that in itself because making the playoffs is hard enough, but making it every year I’ve been with Stewart-Haas is something I’m really proud of. I just hope we can go and execute. My expectations are that we can go far in the playoffs if we can do that. We have great people. When you first make the playoffs, it’s new and exciting, but now that I’ve made the playoffs so many years, my eyes are set on going as far as we possibly can.”

4 Reasons to Get Behind the Bars of an ATV

Credit: Cameron Yartz Via Pexels

In common parlance, “behind bars” means something completely different. But to an avid ATVer, getting behind the bars means trekking into the backcountry with mud rushing up the sides of the vehicle and cool wind in your face.

Racecar enthusiasts looking for a substitute thrill when they aren’t burning around a track would do well to try ATVing. There are a few differences between the two pastimes, but they share similarities – namely, the exhilaration of controlling a roaring beast of a vehicle.

In this post, let’s count down the advantages of ATVing. If you’re interested in taking your vehicle off the road this summer, consider these four reasons to take the plunge.

Get into It Easily and Inexpensively

Firstly, ATVing doesn’t have the same cost barrier to entry as other automotive hobbies. You don’t need an expensive race car or a costly private plane to get started. You just need an ATV (which you can easily find for under $10,000) and access to a full range of ATV parts from a local ATV dealer.

Once you’ve secured your vehicle, the learning curve is short and steep. The first couple of times you try it, you may get stuck, you might falter, and you could even tip over. But once you learn to balance and adjust your stance as you ride, you’ll go from learner to pro in no time. Check out this short primer video on how to ride.

Fill Your Thrill Quota

As mentioned, ATVing is a fantastic substitute for thrill-seeking racing fans. It offers the same exhilaration and fun – just on a slightly different axis. Rather than racing around a level track at lightning speeds, you launch yourself down gnarled trails and around tight switchbacks. An ATV’s pace is obviously slower, but the unpredictability of the terrain more than makes up for it.

For your first ATV trip, bring a friend – preferably one with ATV experience. It’s always best practice to ride with others, just in case you get stuck on an unfamiliar trail.

See Off-the-Beaten-Path Nature

Speaking of unfamiliar trails, one of the finest things about ATVing is that it allows you to access off-the-beaten-path locales you’d never see in a car.

Hikers spend the better part of a day reaching remote natural destinations (all the power to them), but an ATV gets you into the wilderness in a fraction of the time.

Get Some Exercise

Riding an ATV is surprisingly good exercise. All that maneuvering with your body, all of that locking your grip on the bar, and that constant rebalancing – it adds up. ATV riding winds up being a great core and arm workout. It doesn’t quite compare to a long stint at the gym, but then again, a long stint at the gym is nowhere near as fun!

If you’re looking for an easy, inexpensive way to chase thrills, see nature and get your heart pumping, ATV riding is the way to go. Talk to your local ATV dealer and find a nearby ATV club to get started.

Toledo Speedway: All Set to Host Central Transport Glass City 200 and USAC Silver Crown This Year

Toledo in Ohio is a bustling city that is well known for its glass industry and auto assembly. The area is sought after for its blend of culture, opportunity, accessibility, and tourist spots. There’s everything here for tourists from restaurants, indoor and outdoor malls, movie theaters, and sports arenas.

Speaking of sports arenas, Toledo is known for its local racing track called Toledo Speedway. The racetrack is jointly owned by Roy Mott and ARCA President Ron Drager. The track plays host to multiple exciting races across the calendar year and is one of the city’s most exciting attractions.

The racetrack recently hosted the Central Avenue Truck Parts School Bus Figure 8 race and the RCA Menards Series Herr’s Potato Chips 200, both of which are marquee events.

Now, it’s gearing up to host two more exciting races called Central Transport Glass City 200 and USAC Silver Crown. The former will kickstart in September, whereas the latter is scheduled in October. Here’s what you need to know about both these events.

Event Dates and Tickets

Toledo Speedway has opened the bookings for the remaining two events for 2021 recently, starting August 25th. These two events are the Glass City 200 and Hemelgarn/Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic 100 as part of the USAC Silver Crown series.

Besides opening the ticketing for these events, the race track has also confirmed the dates for these events. The Glass City 200 will take place on September 18th. However, the Toledo radar is known for predicting heavy rains on the major race days; therefore, the organizers have set September 19th as a rain date if the race has to be postponed due to rains.

On the other hand, the Hemelgarn/Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic 100 for the USAC Silver Crown Series will be hosted on October 10th, but there is no backup rain date for this race as the weather is favorable that time of the year.

The online ticket bookings are now open on the official website of the Toledo Speedway – www.toledospeedway.com. Racing fans can also call the racetrack on 419-727-1100 to book tickets in advance.

The pricing of tickets for each race is $25 for adults. As for children, those above six years of age and under 12 will be charged $5 for the entry. Additionally, an extra $1 will be charged to those booking the tickets online.

The Toledo Speedway will continue selling tickets up until 5 pm till the Friday before each race date. Bear in mind that seatings will be through general admission for both races.

Central Transport Glass City 200

As mentioned before, the Glass City 200 event will be held on September 18th, with September 19th being a backup date in case of rains. This year is the 33rd installment of the Glass City 200 event.

For the event, Central Transport has been signed up again as the title sponsor. Additionally, Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott, and DTS Drive Train Specialist are the presenting sponsors for the signature race at the event.

The Central Transport Glass City 200 will host two 100-lap contests. The first will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series. This one will witness Jeg’s stock-bodied late models and the outlaw-bodied super late models competing in 100-lap feature races.

The second event will be CRA’s Junior Late Models, which will feature up-and-coming race drivers competing for the championship. Notably, the Toledo event is also the season championship for this particular race.

The Toledo Speedway will open the spectator gates at 12.30 pm on race day, while the race will commence at 5 pm.

USAC Silver Crown Series

Coming to the year’s last major event, the USAC Silver Crown Series 100-lap race will be hosted in October, more specifically on October 10th. There’s no backup date for this particular event since Toledo doesn’t experience much rain in that time period.

Notably, this race is the only open-wheel event scheduled at the Toledo Speedway this season. It holds extra significance since the winner of the race will be the 2021 National Silver Crown champion.

The ticket office will open at 11.30 am on race day, along with the spectator gates. The practice session starts at 11.30 am, while the actual race will kick off at 2 pm.

It’s pretty clear that Toledo has some exciting prospects for the racing fans in the country. With a season championship and national championship lined up during the next couple of months, the city will be buzzing with racers and racing enthusiasts for a while.

NARI JOINS SPIRE MOTORSPORTS AT FOUR RACES, BEGINNING WITH BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

CONCORD, N.C. (August 25, 2021) – Spire Motorsports and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) announced a partnership today that will feature NARI branding aboard the team’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE with driver Corey LaJoie in four races in 2021, beginning with the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The NARI logo will also be prominently displayed on the rear quarter panels of LaJoie’s machine later this season at Talladega Superspeedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

NARI connects homeowners with its professional members, providing validated and reliable information, so consumers have a positive remodeling experience with a professional, qualified remodeler. The organization is made up of high-quality remodeling professionals, whose members are committed to integrity, high standards, professional education, ethics and market recognition.

“NARI members embody professionalism in all that they do, and so does Corey LaJoie,” said Dennis Gehman, MCR, MCKBR, CRPM, CLC, and President of NARI. “Naturally, we are pleased to partner with him and Spire Motorsports in spreading the word about NARI member remodelers to NASCAR race fans everywhere.”

LaJoie has logged nine total Cup Series starts at Bristol Motor Speedway and calls a pair of 24th-place finishes a series’ best at the famed half-mile. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has one NASCAR Xfinity and one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at BMS, where he finished 10th in both races.

“I’m really proud NARI has chosen to partner with Spire Motorsports and showcase its membership network aboard our No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro,” said LaJoie. “Given our longstanding relationship with Schluter Systems, this partnership with NARI has a natural synergy. NASCAR fans are always looking for ways to engage with the sponsors that support both teams and the sport. Many times, reputable remodelers are in short supply so to be able to partner with NARI and offer our fans a direct channel to trustworthy remodeling professionals is a win before we even get to the track. I’d encourage anyone who is considering a home remodel to visit remodelingdoneright.com and get connected to a NARI member.”

The partnership between Spire Motorsports and NARI was facilitated in cooperation with Fritz Sports & Event Enterprises (FSE).

“Fritz Sports & Event Enterprises is honored to help usher a new sponsor into NASCAR and we are very excited to see NARI partnering with Spire Motorsports and Corey LaJoie,” said FSE Chief Executive Officer Doug Fritz. “The remodeling industry is a perfect fit for the loyal fans who support NASCAR and I’m looking forward to seeing NARI grow within the sport.”

The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race from Bristol Motor Speedway will be televised live on NBCSN Saturday, September 18 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The 29th of 36 races on the 2021 NCS schedule will be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

About NARI …
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry, or NARI, provides residential remodelers with tools that enable them to perform at a higher level. NARI members’ annual sales are nearly three times the industry average because of the knowledge, network and support that they receive as members. In addition, NARI connects homeowners with its professional members so consumers have a positive remodeling experience with a professional, qualified remodeler. NARI members pledge to follow the nation’s strictest code of ethics for remodelers so homeowners can feel confident that their remodeling job will be done right when they hire a NARI member. NARI’s website, remodelingdoneright.com, contains a searchable list of NARI members that homeowners can use to find a NARI remodeler near them.

About Spire Motorsports …
Spire Motorsports was established in 2018 and is co-owned by longtime NASCAR industry executives Jeff Dickerson and Thaddeus “T.J.” Puchyr. Spire Motorsports earned an upset victory for the ages in its first full season when Justin Haley took the checkered flag in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway on July 7, 2019. The team fields the Nos. 7 and 77 Chevrolet Camaros in 2021 with drivers Corey LaJoie and Justin Haley.

Unibet Racing: Kevin Harvick Daytona Advance

KEVIN HARVICK
Daytona Advance
No. 4 Unibet Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing

Event Overview

● Event: Coke Zero Sugar 400 (Round 26 of 36)
● Time/Date: 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Aug. 28
● Location: Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway
● Layout: 2.5-mile oval
● Laps/Miles: 160 laps / 400 miles
● Stage Lengths: Stage 1: 50 laps / Stage 2: 50 laps / Final Stage: 60 laps
● TV/Radio: NBC / MRN Radio / SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

Notes of Interest

● Unibet is the primary sponsor for driver Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 team of Stewart-Haas Racing in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 Saturday night at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Unibet is a part of the Kindred Group, one of the top online gambling operators with business across Europe, the U.S. and Australia. The Unibet brand is building on its years of European experience in the responsible gambling and player sustainability field and extending that mindset to its U.S. operations, with motorsports being a key platform. Unibet will return to the No. 4 car as a primary partner Oct. 31 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

● Harvick is always a good bet for the NASCAR Playoffs and thanks to an insurmountable 104-point margin over the playoff cutoff line, Harvick clinched his spot in the 16-driver NASCAR Playoffs with one race still remaining in the regular season. This will be Harvick’s 12th consecutive playoff appearance and his 15th overall. He won the championship in 2014.

● Being locked into the NASCAR Playoffs has a distinct advantage when the cutoff race to make the 16-driver playoffs is Daytona. The only predictable thing about the vast, 2.5-mile oval is its unpredictability. Pack racing is prominent at Daytona, making the Coke Zero 400 a 200 mph chess match. Properly positioning oneself can mean the difference between winning and triggering a massive accident. For Harvick and the 14 other drivers already locked into the playoffs, a victory or a DNF (Did Not Finish) has minimal impact on their championship aspirations. For everyone else, however, a win can secure their spot in the playoffs. There’s only one open position remaining, and it’s essentially available for three entities – 16th-place Tyler Reddick, who comes into Daytona with a 25-point cushion over his teammate, 17th-place Austin Dillon. If Reddick holds that margin over Dillon, Reddick is in the playoffs. If Reddick falters and Dillon overcomes that 25-point deficit, Dillon is in the playoffs. But if any of these other drivers win the Coke Zero Sugar 400 – Matt DiBenedetto, Chris Buescher, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ross Chastain, Bubba Wallace, Chase Briscoe, Erik Jones, Daniel Suárez, Ryan Newman, Ryan Preece, Cole Custer, Anthony Alfredo or Corey LaJoie – then Reddick and Dillon are out of the playoffs and the winning driver is in. Get your popcorn.

● The Coke Zero 400 will mark Harvick’s 41st career NASCAR Cup Series start at Daytona. Harvick made his Cup Series debut at the track on July 7, 2001, starting 10th and finishing 25th, one spot ahead of his car owner at Stewart-Haas Racing, Tony Stewart. In his 39 starts since, Harvick has won twice – the 2010 Coke Zero 400 and the 2017 Daytona 500 – and scored 11 top-fives and 16 top-10s while leading 279 laps. In his most recent drive on the 2.5-mile oval in this year’s Daytona 500, Harvick finished fourth.

● Harvick has proven prolific in the non-points NASCAR Cup Series races at Daytona. He is a three-time winner of the Busch Clash when it was held on the 2.5-mile oval (2009, 2010 and 2013) and he is a two-time winner of the Duel (2013 and 2019), twin 150-mile qualifying races that set the field for the Daytona 500.

● Outside of the NASCAR Cup Series, Harvick has made 19 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Daytona and three IROC starts. Of Harvick’s 47 Xfinity Series wins, only one is at Daytona – the 2007 season opener. And Harvick’s best IROC finish at Daytona is seventh, earned twice (2003 and 2004). Harvick is a two-time Xfinity Series champion (2001 and 2006) and the 2002 IROC champion.

Kevin Harvick, Driver of the No. 4 Unibet Ford Mustang

Pack racing at Daytona is always dicey, but what is it like when it’s a cutoff race to make the NASCAR Playoffs?

“It’s a way different vibe. They’ve tinkered with the cutoff race a lot and there’s not a better spot for it to be than Daytona because it is the ultimate saying – and you say it with an exclamation point – anyone can win, and that is never more true than at Daytona. Everyone knows going in that it’s their last-ditch effort to either make the playoffs or put yourself in position to score more points for the playoffs. Everybody kind of has that, ‘Screw it, I’m going for it,’ mentality in that particular race because they know whatever the scenario is, it’s the last chance to score points, it’s the last chance to put you in, and I think the Daytona 500 showed you that anybody can do it.”

Describe the intensity of racing at Daytona.

“You have to be aggressive just for the fact that if you’re not aggressive, it always seems like you’re not going to be where you need to be. Nine times out of 10, the aggressor is going to be the guy who comes out on the good side of things just for the fact that you’re making things happen and you’re not waiting for something else to happen. When you wait for something else to happen, that’s usually when you get in trouble because it’s usually someone else’s mess. You can still get in trouble if you’re aggressive, but with this rules package and the way things are, it’s best to stay aggressive and try to stay up front.”

Blocking seems to be a necessary evil at Daytona. What’s your take?

“I don’t like blocking, but it’s a necessity. Blocking is something that has evolved over the years as people have figured out trying to time the runs, and people have figured out when you can block and when you can’t. It’s just a matter of putting yourself in a position where you think you’re making the right move, and sometimes you make the wrong move. It’s just a game of inches. It just really is a high-speed chess match that you have at 200 mph – and Saturday night will be absolutely no different. There will be a big crash. There will be mistakes made. There will be pit errors made. There will be strategy played. But I can promise you we’re all going to race in a pack – and that’s the way Daytona should be.”
