Sheehan and Damon Racing Focus on Charging Brainerd

Bow, NEW HAMPSHIRE – July 13, 2021 – The Round 7 of the 2021 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season takes place at Brainerd International Raceway July 16 to 18 and is the third in a trio of midsummer races across the Midwest that started at Mid Ohio and continued at Road America. On both of those occasions, Tom Sheehan, piloting the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Ford Mustang charged through crowded fields from unpromising positions to maintain his challenge in the top ten of the TA2 Class Drivers’ Championship with 80 Championship points, putting him in P8.

Sunday’s race sees TA2 cars heading to the Minnesota circuit for the second annual Jed Copham Memorial event, held in memory of the late Jed Copham, the former owner of Brainerd and driver, who passed away in a tragic accident in November 2018. This year is the just the second time Trans Am has visited Brainerd since his passing after last year’s Trans Am racing was such a success.

“I’m very happy to be going back to Brainerd on the back of a couple of encouraging results at Mid Ohio and Road America,” said Tom leaving Road America last weekend, “It’s well documented that we didn’t get the best start at either of those events but certainly finished strong. If we can get a good position on the grid this time then who knows. The team is ready, I’m ready and we’ll be giving it our best shot.”

The Trans Am races compete over the 2.5 mile course which was first raced on in 2009 having been completed the previous summer. Turn 1 on the 2.5-mile Competition Road Course is the same as Turn 1 on the three-mile road course. Turn 1 is a narrow but very high-speed banked right-hand 60-degree turn, which is intended to be taken flat out by all vehicles. Turns 1 through 8 of the original 3.1-mile road course are used for the new circuit.

At Turn 8, a 240-degree right-hand Clover Leaf transitions drivers from the old course to the new stretch of asphalt that winds its way back across the infield, eventually tying back into the original circuit just before Turn 1, avoiding the dragstrip. In all, the Competition Road Course features 13 turns and very little elevation change.

The Trans Am series has been very popular at BIR among fans over the years, and attracted racers like actor Paul Newman, who set a lap record in 1977 during the Uncola Nationals, won races in 1978 and 1979, and then won his first race as a professional there in 1982. It’s a 2.5 mile road racing course and dragstrip racing complex northwest of the city of Brainerd, Minnesota.

Tom will get his first taste of track on Friday July 16 at 12:30 p.m. for testing with a second session at 3:25 p.m. the same afternoon. Practice is at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday morning with the all important qualifying session at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with the race itself over 40 laps of the famous old circuit scheduled for 11:25 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Trans Am Set for 30th Race at Brainerd

Drissi beat two-time winner Ruman in 2020 ‘Donnybrooke’

BRAINERD, Minn. (33 July 2021) – The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli returns to historic Brainerd International Raceway for the 30th time in the Ryan Companies US presents the Jed Copham Tribute Weekend on July 16-18.

Last year, Brainerd hosted the Trans Am for the first time since 2017. Two-time TA champ Amy Ruman ran her best race of the season, battling Tomy Drissi for second place behind Ernie Francis Jr., who pulled out nearly a 20-second lead. For lap after lap, Drissi challenged Ruman for the runner-up position before slipping by in the Cloverleaf Corner on the 19th lap. Moments later, Francis went off course twice in three corners and pitted the One South Florida Ford Mustang for the day with a mechanical problem.

Drissi made the most of Francis’ retirement to take his fifth career victory in the No. 8 Lucas Oil Chevrolet Camaro. Ruman held on for second despite losing the power steering in her McNichols Company Corvette in the closing laps, with Simon Gregg rounding out the podium.

Originally known as the Donnybrooke Road Course when it opened in 1968, the very wide 10-turn, 3.1-mile circuit first hosted Trans Am at the height of its Golden Years (1966-1972). Parnelli Jones won the opener in 1969 in Bud Moore’s Mustang. Privateer Milt Minter scored a major upset in 1970, winning in a Camaro, while Roger Penske Javelins won in 1971 (Mark Donohue) and 1972 (George Follmer). After a two-year break, Trans Am returned to the rechristened Brainerd International Raceway in 1975, with Peter Gregg, Bob Tullius and Jerry Hansen among the winners over the next four years.

The circuit hosted Trans Am throughout the 1980s. Paul Newman scored his first professional triumph in 1982, winning from the pole and leading every lap in Bob Sharp’s Datsun 280ZX. Willy T. Ribbs won the following three years for Neil DeAtley and Jack Roush. Other winners included Greg Pickett (1986), Elliott Forbes-Robinson (1987) and Hans Stuck (1988). Irv Hoerr drove his Oldsmobile to victory in 1989, in what proved to be the final Trans Am event at Brainerd for 21 seasons. (Video: Trans Am at Brainerd Full Race from 1987 Season)

Copham – a three-time Trans Am competitor at Brainerd – purchased the complex in 2008. A hands-on owner, he made improvements to both the facility and the racing program. Copham was instrumental in the return of Trans Am, which came back to Minnesota in 2010 and ran two events in both 2011 and 2012. Tony Ave won the 2010 race on the refurbished 2.5-mile, 13-turn layout, and followed by winning both 2011 races and the 2012 opener.

Ruman went on to win the second race in 2012, and also triumphed in 2015. Doug Peterson won in both 2013 and 2014, while Cameron Lawrence won the TA2® race in 2013 and scored his lone TA victory in 2017.

Mike Skeen was the TA2® winner last year, followed by Thomas Merrill, Rafa Matos and Scott Lagasse Jr. Ken Thwaits won in XGT and Lee Saunders in SGT. All three winners went on to win their respective titles.

Trans Am drivers will compete in a full test day on Friday (July 16) with practices filling Saturday (July 17) morning before the Trans Am qualifying block starting at 3:15 p.m. Central. Sunday (July 18) closes the three-day event with two 100-mile sprints from Trans Am drivers, the first from TA2® at 11:25 a.m. Central, TA/XGT/SGT/GT goes green at 2:55 p.m. Central.

The weekend will be live streamed on the Trans Am by Pirelli Racing App starting on Saturday.

Alfredo comes home with a familiar partner on his No. 38 Ford Mustang. DUDE Wipes returns to the Rookie-of-the-Year candidate in his first NASCAR Cup Series start at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Interstate Batteries Racing: Kyle Busch New Hampshire Advance

KYLE BUSCH
Model of Consistency

HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (July 13, 2021) – There have been few things that have not changed dramatically in NASCAR’s top series over the past 30 years. However, one thing that has been a model of consistency since 1992 has been the partnership between Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and founding sponsor Interstate Batteries.

It’s that consistency that has helped propel JGR to five NASCAR Cup Series championships and 191 race wins – and counting – as one of NASCAR’s top teams celebrates its 30th anniversary throughout the 2021 season.

The longstanding Interstate Batteries partnership continues today with a driver and team who have been models of consistency on the racetrack during the late spring and summer each year. So, it’s only appropriate that Kyle Busch will strap back into his green lightning scheme this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon as he competes in the third of six races with JGR founding sponsor Interstate Batteries’ Toyota Camry.

Busch, driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota for JGR, heads into Sunday’s Foxwoods Casino Resort 301 looking to continue his hot streak over the last 11 weeks with hopes adding yet another notch to the win column at a place he enjoys.

Busch has posted four consecutive top-three finishes, most recently a strong runner-up finish this past weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In fact, Busch has posted six top-five finishes in his last eight races, including his second win of the season in June at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. Starting with his first win of the season on his birthday, May 2, at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Busch has only two finishes outside the top-10, and nine top-10 finishes during that time.

The New Hampshire track, affectionately dubbed the “Magic Mile,” has certainly lived up to its billing for Busch. In 2015, he and his team used hard work and a little bit of luck to bring home what would be his second of three Cup Series wins in a row during a summer hot streak that would ultimately springboard him to that year’s Cup Series championship.

The 2015 New Hampshire victory was Busch’s second Cup Series win on the flat, 1.058-mile oval, the first coming in just his third start there in July 2006, and in dominating fashion as he led 107 laps. After that 2006 win, the Las Vegas native left with plenty of confidence that he could get multiple New Hampshire wins as his career progressed. As it turned out, he was winless there over the next 17 races, which included a number of near-misses.

Still, the driver of the Interstate Batteries Toyota posted five top-five finishes in those 17 starts between New Hampshire wins, including three runner-up finishes in a row in 2013 and 2014 before breaking through for the aforementioned 2015 win. He added his first playoff victory at the track in September 2017 after leading 187 of the 300 laps in an impressive performance. In all, Busch has 11 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s in 29 starts at New Hampshire.

Now in the dog days of summer, this part of the season happens to be the hottest for Cup Series competitors with many race venues seeing higher July temperatures, which is also the case for race fans heading out on their vacation road trips. The summer months can be taxing on both man and machine, whether it’s on the highway or at the track. Caring for the latter is one of the ways JGR founding partner Interstate Batteries leverages its NASCAR program, reminding consumers to have their batteries checked during the hot summer months at a local dealer prior to their summer road trips. Typically, Busch and his team elevate their game even more during the grueling summer stretch thanks to Interstate Batteries.

So, as NASCAR’s top series heads to the Northeast for Sunday’s 301-mile race, Busch will bring back the familiar – and consistent – colors of Interstate Batteries, aiming for yet another victory together.

KYLE BUSCH, Driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing:

Going into New Hampshire, how do you feel about your program there?

“New Hampshire has been a pretty decent place for us over the years, so we are looking forward to taking our green lightning Interstate Batteries Camry back there and go for another win. The last few years, it’s been really hard to pass there. Last year, I think I ran three laps and, boom, went home. I had a tire failure. It’s been two years since I’ve run a full race there. Typically, we do run well there. We’ve got a strong package for there. It’s a 750-horsepower package race. It’s a mile race. It’s kind of what Phoenix is, so we need to kind of get a good baseline for what we need at the end of the year.”

In 2019, Joe Gibbs Racing was the dominant team, and now it seems this year so far Hendrick has been the best team. What does that say about the balance of the sport?

“It’s just a big cycle of who can take over the top. It’s more like a Ferris wheel. You are always wondering when you are going to get to the top and you want to stay at the top the longest. You are going to go down at some point, but how slowly can you get down and then how quickly can you make that climb back to the top. Two years ago, we were at the top of that, we were certainly hot. We fell really fast, and last year was just terrible at the bottom, but it feels like we are slowly creeping our way back toward the top. We are working on it. I feel like we are pretty good as an organization. We are definitely a little behind the Hendrick bunch, that’s pretty obvious because everyone is behind them. I feel like, us a team, that we are the closest to them. We would like to continue to run up front each week with those guys, but more importantly we want to beat those guys. Hopefully we can do that in the coming weeks and continue to build our way back up the points ladder to get more playoff points and set us up well for the final 10 races.”

What does it take to be successful at New Hampshire?

“Loudon is a Martinsville-like short track, but it’s just over a mile. It’s a little more spread out, but there’s some rooting and gouging going on because it’s a one-lane track and everybody fights for that particular groove. To be fast at Loudon, you have to have good brakes and you have to roll the center really well and get that good forward bite off the corners and make sure it sticks. The biggest thing about Loudon is, you keep losing front turn-in and that’s why the brakes go away, just because the corners are longer and more sweeping than you need to keep those front tires around you.”

The New Hampshire race is one of the shortest on the circuit. How do you approach that race knowing you might have a little less time to get to the front at the end?

“Essentially, at Loudon, you’re looking at how good your fuel mileage is and you have to look at when you have to make your last pit stop since that’s what everyone looks at. You end up running it almost like a road-course race because you do want to be the first guy on the last round of pit stops to pit. You want to get in there, get your tires and fuel, and then stay out the rest of the race and keep your track position since it’s so important there. It’s just a challenging race because it’s so hard to pass there. You can be two-tenths faster than a guy and not be able to pass him because everyone typically runs the same speed. You’ll have it where the leader might be a tenth better than the second-place guy, but everyone is separated by so little that it takes a mistake on someone’s part in order to pass them there.”

When you make a mistake at Loudon, does it cost you a little bit more because you have less time to recover?

“You don’t because you’re always on edge there. You’re trying to go as fast as you can into the corners, as deep as you can into the corners while rolling as much speed, or just a bit higher than everyone else so you are able to get back to the gas sooner. You’re going harder than everyone else in order to make the straightaway a little bit longer and get your momentum built back up. It’s definitely a challenging racetrack.”

Notes of Interest:

● 30th Anniversary Celebration: This season, JGR and Interstate Batteries are celebrating quite the milestone in their 30th year together in NASCAR’s top series. No other sponsor has been with the same team for as long of a run as this strong partnership. In fact, Interstate Batteries has brought home 32 all-time Cup Series wins as a primary sponsor and countless others as associate sponsor on JGR cars. Interstate Batteries and JGR brought home their first win together in the 1993 Daytona 500 with Dale Jarrett behind the wheel. Jarrett won twice in Interstate Batteries colors, Kyle Busch nine times, and Bobby Labonte leads the way for the Dallas-based company with 21 all-time Cup Series wins in its colors.

● 30-Year Giveaway: In celebration of the 30-year partnership with JGR, Interstate Batteries is hosting a Twitter giveaway on the 30th day of each month. Fans can follow Interstate on Twitter (@interstatebatts), Facebook (@interstatebatteries), Instagram (@interstatebatteries), and YouTube (@interstatebatteries) for giveaways, how-to tips, NASCAR updates, and even more car-related content most people never knew they needed.

● Green Machine: In addition to Busch’s nine victories in Interstate Batteries colors over the years for JGR, Busch brought home two Xfinity Series victories for Interstate Batteries. Both came at Phoenix Raceway, in 2008 and 2011.

● New Hampshire Stats: Busch has three wins, 11 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s and has led a total of 1,128 laps in 29 career Cup Series starts at New Hampshire. Busch’s average New Hampshire finish is 13.5.

● Playoff Points: Busch has accumulated 14 important playoff points he can take with him through each round. Busch also currently sits third in the point standings with 10 top-five finishes and 14 top-10s with just five regular-season races remaining before the playoffs begin.

● Alone in Ninth: With his win last month at Pocono, Busch sits at 59 career wins in NASCAR’s top series as he moved past Kevin Harvick into sole possession of ninth on the all-time win list. Next up on the win list is Dale Earnhardt, the seven-time Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer who won 76 races during his storied career.

● 222 and Counting: Busch will be aiming to add to his record 222 overall wins among NASCAR’s top three series this weekend at New Hampshire after adding another Xfinity Series win to the list last weekend at Atlanta. In addition to his 59 Cup Series wins and 102 in the Xfinity Series, Busch has 61 wins in the Camping World Truck Series.

CORVETTE RACING AT LIME ROCK: C8.R Goes Short-Track Racing

· First race for mid-engine Corvette at scenic but tough 1.5-mile layout
· Garcia, Taylor enter on two-race win streak
· Milner revisits site of 100th Corvette Racing win

DETROIT (July 13, 2021) – With the wide-open spaces of Road America and Le Mans on the horizon, Corvette Racing will get a taste of short-track racing – sports car style – when it returns to Lime Rock Park this weekend.

Saturday’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock is a GT-only event for Corvette Racing’s pair of mid-engine Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.Rs and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT competitors. The seven-turn, 1.474-mile circuit in the northwestern corner of Connecticut gives Corvette Racing, a five-time winner at Lime Rock, a shot at an overall race victory during one of the busiest races on the calendar.

Race laps for GT Le Mans (GTLM) cars will be around 50 seconds during the two-hour, 40-minute race. If all goes according to plan, that means the pair of racing Corvettes will start to overtake slower GT Daytona (GTD) cars within 20 minutes of the green flag.

Like Watkins Glen within the last month, Lime Rock Park was a venue at which the Corvette C8.R didn’t compete during its debut season. That didn’t impact the team during the back-to-back weekends at Watkins Glen, however, when Corvette Racing took the race win, pole position and fastest race lap in both the six-hour enduro and two-hour, 40-minute sprint race.

Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor, co-drivers in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette C8.R, swept the Watkins Glen weekends to extend their lead in the GTLM Drivers Championship as well as Chevrolet’s in the Manufacturers standings. They are ahead of No. 4 Corvette drivers Tommy Milner and Nick Tandy, who narrowly missing out on victories at The Glen.

Taylor (2013 GRAND-AM DP) and Milner (2016 GTLM) each have previous victories at Lime Rock. Garcia (2018 GTLM) and Taylor (2010 GRAND-AM GT) have won pole positions at the track in the past. Garcia also set the fastest race lap in 2017, followed by Tandy doing the same in 2018 and 2019.

Corvette Racing will contest the Northeast Grand Prix from Lime Rock Park on July 16-17. The race will air at 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 17 with live streaming coverage on TrackPass and NBC Sports Gold at 3:05 p.m. ET. Live audio coverage from IMSA Radio will be available on IMSA.com, Sirius 216, XM 202 and SiriusXM Online 992.
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Lime Rock should be good for us. I don’t see any track where the C8.R shouldn’t be good. I’m looking forward to going back there. In a lot of ways it feels like the longest race of the year. You’re running three hours with 50-second laps so it’s very challenging. The 10 laps before you get into traffic are pretty calm. After that, it’s very tough. There is no rest there. In a good qualifying run if you run all session, could be a 20-lap attempt. That’s half-a-stint at most tracks we go to. Mentally it’s demanding because of that.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Lime Rock. The last time I raced there was 2013 in GRAND-AM when we won the race and the championship that weekend, so there are good memories. It’s a tough place and usually an intense race. I think every year I’ve watched the GT race, there have always been crazy battles with the different classes and how tough it is to pass. It’s one that’s been on the list that looks difficult so it will be a good experience. Pit stop execution will be huge. It’s a short lap and Lime Rock will be a track position race. Driver changes, tire changes and fueling will have to be the best of the year.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “I have really great memories from Lime Rock in 2016 and getting the 100th win for Corvette Racing with Oliver Gavin. It obviously was a special day for me and the team. Lime Rock will be a good challenge to go there with the C8.R for the first time. It’s a pretty unique racetrack all things considered. In a lot of ways, it’s an oval so you set the car up to pretty much only turn right. We’ll have our work cut out to figure that out with a new car. Based on all the work we’ve done so far and all the results we’ve had, I don’t see there any real major hurdles to getting to a good spot.”

NICK TANDY, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “I really like Lime Rock. The track is quick but it’s so intense. It reminds me a little bit of my short-oval background in that you’re always in the corners, you’re always in traffic. The car, the tire and the driver never get a break. You’re in traffic pretty much all the time. A stint at Le Mans is around 14 laps, and you get time to relax. A stint at Lime Rock is like 60 laps and there is constantly something going on. You feel it physically as a driver because it’s usually super-hot. It’s intense on the physical and mental sides. The GTLM cars being as fast as they are, it’s a good workout and good fun.”

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

What do you like about going to New Hampshire Motor Speedway?

“It kind of takes you back to Saturday-night, short-track racing. It’s a mile track but it races like a short track. You go there and see the Modified division there and it makes you feel like when you were a kid and racing Late Models. It’s a fun track to race at and I’ve had some success there and I’ve run well there in the past.”

Are you looking forward to getting to another track that fits the No. 10 team’s strengths this season?

“I have had New Hampshire circled on the calendar for a while now. It’s somewhere that I have had a lot of success at since joining SHR. We were even in position to win there my first year with the team. This package has been our strong suit this year, as we saw at Nashville, Richmond and Phoenix, which gives us even more confidence and excitement heading there this weekend.”

TRADITIONS RETURN TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY AT THIS SATURDAY’S USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR RACE

Veteran driver Verne Sweeney takes time to meet a couple young fans at a candy giveaway at The PAS in 2019. Charles Fawcett photo.

(Perris, CA, July 12, 2021)  When the popular USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and PAS Senior Sprint Cars return to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, July 17th, fans will not only be greeted by the best in short track racing, but by one old and one relatively new tradition that will return to the track located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds.  Camping will return to the grassy area outside of turn four and there will be an on-track autograph and photo session where drivers will be passing out free candy to children in attendance.  Spectator gates for the night of racing and clean family fun will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00.

The candy giveaway started at the track on Halloween four or five years ago and it proved to be an immediate success.  It was made a regular part of the PASSCAR Stock Car and IMCA Modified events at intermissions and LKQ Pick Your Part Night of Destructions in 2018.  In 2019, promoter Don Kazarian then introduced the candy giveaway at the USAC/CRA Sprint Car programs.  Needless to say it was a hit with the open wheel fans as well.

“When we were allowed to reopen in April, we still did not have the giveaways due to social distancing,” Kazarian said.  “One thing we have noticed since reopening is the age of the fans in the grandstands. In particular our sprint car crowd.  A lot more younger adults are coming to the races and many of them are bringing children. With all the young faces in the stands it is important that they get to meet their heroes.  Hopefully meeting them will make them fans for life.  I think it is incredibly special that a kid can walk up to a driver, get an autograph, take a photo, get a piece of candy, shake hands with the driver and then 10 minutes later watch him race in a main event.  The value of that interaction is priceless for our sport.”

“It goes both ways,” Kazarian continued. “The drivers enjoy meeting the fans, especially the children, just as much as the kids enjoy meeting them.  We are going to keep making these personal interactions possible so the fans can become more familiar with the drivers and the drivers with the fans.  It can also help with sponsorships. Current sponsors enjoy the increased exposure they get from the interactions.  Over the decades, many sponsorships have been born when people came down to meet drivers in the pits after the races.  This may increase that possibility as some people leave the races as soon as the event is over.  This way they can meet the teams and still leave at their normal time.”

Fans coming to the races and camping on the fairgrounds began over 20-years ago.  For the most part, they were on the grassy area outside of turn four, but that changed a couple of years ago when they were moved to another part of the fairgrounds that was paved.  This weekend, they return to the popular grassy area for the first time.

“Big thank you to the fair board for allowing our campers to go back to the spot they like the best,” Kazarian stated.  “Many of our campers come out on Friday and stay through Sunday.  It is a tradition for them.  Like always, the campgrounds will open at noon on Friday.  Trash cans will be placed in the area, and we ask all the campers to please put all their refuse in them.  All of the campers have to leave by noon on Sunday.”

The cost to camp is $25.00 per night.  The fairgrounds asks that no one park under the agricultural structures as they have vehicles parked there.  The fairgrounds also reminds that there is no tailgating in the spectator parking lot before the races.

Saturday’s race will be the fourth for the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series at The PAS in 2021.  The first three races have been won by archrivals Damion Gardner of Concord, California, and Brody Roa of Garden Grove.  Gardner won the first race in April and Roa followed that up by winning the prestigious “Salute to Indy” on May 22nd.  Last month, Gardner, who currently leads the series championship point standings, returned to victory circle again.  The two drivers are ranked first and second in points.  Gardner carries a two-race win streak into Saturday’s show.  Roa has finished second and third in those events.  In victory circle after the race at Santa Maria two weeks ago, tensions between the two teams nearly reached the boiling point.  That makes things a little more interesting coming into Saturday’s showdown at The PAS.

In addition to the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, The PAS Senior Sprints, for drivers 40 and over, will also be in action.  El Segundo’s Tyler Hatzikian, who drives a car that is a tribute to the famous Morales Brothers Tamale Wagon, is the current Senior point leader.  Ed Schwarz of Santa Fe Springs is second and trails Hatzikian by 18-points.  Anaheim’s Dale Gamer is third with restaurateur Greg Badgwell of Orange fourth.  Ageless Hall of Famer Wally Pankratz of Orange rounds out the top five.

There will be plenty of tickets for everyone at the track ticket window on Saturday.  For those who wish, online tickets for this Saturday night and all other 2021 Perris Auto Speedway races are on sale at tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7.  Adult tickets are $30.00.  Seniors 65 and over get in for $25.00.  Kids aged 6-12 get in for $5.00 and children 5 and under are free.  The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking.

How to check and improve your internet speed

Is your internet laggy or slow at times, and you can’t determine if it’s your internet provider or your computer? First, you must determine your speed and then pick a plan that fits your needs and price range if you need to switch plans.

How to check and improve your internet speed

The internet speed will most likely also be driven by price.  It’s important to pick the right speed for your online needs but also stay within a budget that is affordable to you.  You can easily check the rates for Frontier internet, and the other providers who operate in your area, to compare and contrast them to ensure you get the best deal for your needs.  But, do you know what is a good speed or what you will need if you have multiple devices and users at once? Browsing all of the new internet plans, Spectrum internet prices, internet providers, and internet speeds can be tricky, confusing, and time-consuming if you don’t know what you are looking for.

How Much Speed Do You Need?

The first thing you need to know is how the internet speed is measured, what is considered slow or fast internet, and what is considered a good speed that fits your specific needs.  So, how much internet speed do I need? Do a quick internet speed test at Speedcheck to quickly determine your speeds.  For the best speed results, connect your laptop or computer directly to your router with an ethernet cable instead of using the WiFi connection.

The speed is determined by how much data the internet connection can upload and or download per second.  The speed will be shown as bits per second (bps).  While researching for plans or checking your internet speed, you will most likely see Mbps more than kbps (K=1,000) or Gbps (G=1,000M) since Mbps (M=1,000k) speeds are better suited to what the internet is used for.

What’s Your Current Speed

To make a better decision, you must know what the uploading and downloading speeds mean.  Fast download speed is essential for downloading or streaming music, streaming TV, watching videos, and using social media.  Upload speeds are most important if you do things such as video conferencing, online classes, and uploading large files.

Once you have done your internet speed test, review the test results. You should see Latency, the number of milliseconds your connection needs to respond to a command in a search, query, or page load. You should also see a Mbps upload, which is the number of megabits per second your connection uploads and downloads. The number of megabits per second your connection is downloading.

If you have slow WiFi internet speeds, try moving the device on which you are running the speed test closer to the router or access point.  It is best to have your router in a centralized location where the walls and floors do not obstruct the wireless signal.  Some routers will have two signals, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi.  Connecting to the 5 GHz will make a huge difference, but note that older devices may not connect to 5G.

For a baseline speed, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) says that a broadband internet connection has a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and a minimum upload speed of 3 Mbps to determine a fast and a slow internet speed.

You also need to keep in mind that the internet speed will also be slower when you add more connected devices, and the usage of more demanding tasks such as streaming a movie or downloading large files can slow the internet speed and make a “fast” speed seem slow.

Consider Your Options

There are lots of carriers to choose from, but availability and speeds will depend on your area.  Some popular internet providers include Verizon Fios, AT&T, CenturyLink, Cox, Spectrum, Suddenlink, and Xfinity.  With these providers, you can find speeds up to 1,000 Mbps in select areas.

If your speed test has slow results, shop around to find a faster internet speed if your current provider or plan does not offer the needed speeds.

Fans Welcome Back Exciting F1 Racing

(Image from planetf1.com)

Enthusiastic fans have often been disappointed with how much of a one-horse race each season had become as 2020 saw Mercedes secure their seventh constructor’s championship in a row and defining the current turbo-hybrid era. This year has already started to shape up very differently, however, with Max Verstappen leading Red Bull to the top of the constructors and securing the top podium spot for the last five races. As Lewis Hamilton has also committed to a further two years at the silver arrows too, it seems there’s a lot of excitement to come – it provides a unique wagering opportunity too as promo codes by Unibet are allowing more options than ever, particularly as the season can change on a dime and provide a very different outcome to what’s expected.

The excitement in the midfield – One thing that has become more apparent this year is just how much racing is being done in the middle of the pack, with some even standing out more. Pierre Gasly has been pushing the Alpha Tauri which continues to help the Red Bull sister team perform well. With Lando Norris in full control of his McLaren scoring a couple of podiums himself too, Austria had shown that it may even be able to compete at the top. With a big set of changes set to come in 2022, the gap may close further, and the opportunities for the middle pack teams could see closer racing options against the two front runners.

Big team changes have shown their value – There has been a lot of focus on Danny Ricc and his current struggles at McLaren, other big moves have seemed to pan out very well. Perez has settled into the second Red Bull seat extremely quickly and seems to be just what the team needed to break the Mercedes dominance at the front. Sainz has been showing his own talent and putting in a great effort for Ferrari. The next big question mark is for Mercedes and whether or not they’ll secure Bottas for next season, but with calls that George Russell may be very close in line to take the seat, some change at the front of the grid seems inevitable.

It hasn’t just been the front though that has contributed, the return of seasoned veterans like Alonso has helped bring a lot of excitement as Alonso has even stated to himself just how much fun he’s having as well as inspiring the younger drivers like Norris and Russell, but also with new drivers on the grid-like Tsunoda showing how much they’re improving too – whilst we’re only halfway through the current season and there are many exciting races to come, next year could certainly lend itself to some more close-knit racing, and a lot more excitement for perhaps the first time in the turbo-hybrid era.
