Wagner Becomes First Repeat Mazda MX-5 Cup Winner of 2021 at Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (March 19, 2021) – Gresham Wagner (No. 5 Spark Performance) extended his Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires Championship point lead with a win in Round Four at Sebring International Raceway on Friday. Once again, the Mazda MX-5 Cup field put on another fantastic show as Wagner got the better of Michael Carter (No. 08 Carter Racing Enterprises) in the final turn of the final lap to get his second win of the season.

Starting third, Wagner had a great start and was around polesitter Sam Paley (No. 28 McCumbee McAleer Racing) by Turn Three.

Following the first of two full-course cautions, Wagner and Selin Rollan (No. 87 Hixon Motor Sports) worked together to pull away from the rest of the field. Behind them, Paley and Aaron Jeansonne (No. 24 Provision Motorsports) were battling for third at the front of the next six-car faction.

Approximately 10 minutes after the first restart, disaster struck Rollan: damage on his car punctured the right front tire. He fell back into the second pack of cars and got caught up in an incident between Jeansonne and Justin Piscitell (No. 89 McCumbee McAleer Racing) that nearly sent him into the tires. Piscitell didn’t get off as lightly and a second full-course caution was issued to remove his car from Turn 10.

“I had a lot of pressure at the start and was just trying to build a lead and get a little bit of padding to the guys behind,” Wagner said. “The yellows kind of just disrupt that momentum when you are in a groove and have built up a breakaway- it’s a bit disheartening when it all gets packed up again, especially that final caution.”

The second full-course yellow gave Round Three winner Rollan the time to get on pit lane and change the flat tire, but he still returned to the track at the back of the pack.

When the 45-minute race restarted for the second time, Carter was Wagner’s new dance partner out front. The pair had just five minutes to settle who would win.

“I didn’t know what to expect (on the restart) because Michael (Carter) wasn’t up there for most of the race and I knew with the restart he was going to be hungry to get up there and try to get the win,” Wagner said.

Carter waited until the final corner of the last lap to make his move, but Wagner had his number. Carter ran too wide and Wagner was able to hold the inside and speed away to the checkered flag.

“He worked well with me to make it a showdown between just us two at the end and you know, it was going be a good finish, I think regardless of whether it’s him or if I got the win– so I’m a little bit happier that it was me across the line first! But overall it was great race and I’m happy we worked so well together again,” Wagner said.

“I didn’t even try to brake that deep going into Turn 17,” said Carter. “I knew what Gresham (Wagner) was going to do once I passed him. But the rear just got away from me and I just tried not to hit the wall.

“It was a good race but stressful when I got shuffled back,” said Carter. “I got punted in Turn Four, saved it, and brought it back out on track. I think on the restart I was 12th, so before that I was 15th – so 15th to second was still a pretty good result. Gresham drove a great race and I feel like these last two wins could have been mine, but we’ll go to St. Pete and get them there.”

After a disappointing result at Daytona, Bryan Ortiz (No. 4 Copeland Motorsports) was thrilled to complete the podium in third place. The 2019 Champion navigated the perils within the second group of cars with poise and lead them across the finish line.

“I ran the new car for one race last year, and it’s not that it’s different, there are just so many good guys that have been developing and testing with this car,” Ortiz said. “We’re like a year behind on that, but we are trying to get better.

“This weekend we just had bad luck in the first race,” Ortiz said. “Today we just picked off one car at a time and stuck with it. After the yellow flag, I knew where I was stronger and where the guys ahead were stronger, so I tried to make passes as soon as possible. The last lap was a battle. We touched, but it was a clean lap. I’m happy that we were able to bring it to the podium. We were frustrated early in the weekend because we knew that we could be up front, so to have this finish was really great.”

Jeansonne, the current MX-5 Cup Shootout winner, took home his best finish of the season so far in fourth, despite extensive bodywork damage to his car from the action inside that second group of cars.

Todd Buras (No. 95 Irish Mike’s Racing) completed the top five. Buras, who hasn’t raced in the MX-5 Cup series in nearly a decade, came from 17th on the grid and won the Hard Charger Award.

“I’m having a blast in the new generation MX-5 Cup car and I have to thank Irish Mike, Mike Flynn, the Flynn Family and my crew chief Jeff Linfert,” Buras said. “I have never driven one of these new cars and these guys have two or three years on us. After an hour and a half of adjusting, we started to figure it out. Today we started 17th and finished fifth. We ran some pretty good times.

“For a lot of guys this is a great starter series, you learn a lot of race craft here and you need the race craft because the cars are so equal. Mazda put together an amazing package and the BFGs are consistent from the out lap to the finish and the suspension is very adjustable – during the course of the run, the car doesn’t change much. It’s been 10 years since I ran these cars and it’s just the same.”

In the final five-minute dash to the finish, Rollan was able to claw his way back to ninth.

After four rounds, Wagner continues to lead the Championship by 120 points, provisionally, over Michael Carter. Rollan is another 10 points behind in third.

Next up for MX-5 Cup is Rounds Five and Six at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix, April 23 – 25. Both races will be streamed live on IMSA.com.

Rounds Three and Four from Sebring will air on NBCSN on April 1 at 3pm ET.

MARCH 21, 2021

RACE #6 – ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
NASCAR’s three national series head back east this weekend for races on the 1.54-mile, 24-degree banked oval of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Chevrolet will aim for its 41st NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) victory at the track in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. FOX will telecast the 325-lap race at 3:00 p.m. ET Sunday, March 21.

Kurt Busch, No. 1 Monster Energy Camaro ZL1 1LE, is one of two active drivers with three victories (2002, 2009, 2010) at the racetrack that has hosted 113 NCS races since July 1960 and was the site of the season finale from 1987 to 2000. In 29 starts, Busch has collected 15 top-10 finishes and led 803 laps.

AJ Allmendinger, who won the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2020, will seek to take the checkered flag again in the 163-lap Echo Park 250 that will be telecast on FS1 at 5:00 p.m. ET Saturday, March 20. Allmendinger, who will start on the inside of Row 2 in the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Camaro SS, won the NXS race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this month. Brandon Brown, who posted a career-high third place at Phoenix Raceway last weekend, will start fourth in the No. 68 Brandonbilt Motorsports Camaro SS.

Chip Ganassi Racing Cup Series driver, Ross Chastain, will take on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) in the F8Auctions 200, piloting the No. 44 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado. FS1 will telecast the 130-lap race at 2:30 p.m. ET Saturday, March 20.

FOUR IN THE TOP-10
Chevrolet leads all manufacturers with four drivers in the top-10 of the points standings. Kyle Larson and Georgia native, Chase Elliott, both have 179 points, just one point out of fourth place. Their Hendrick Motorsports’ teammate, William Byron, currently sits in the ninth position, while Chip Ganassi Racing’s, Kurt Busch, rounds out the top-10.

Larson, who won at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, is among just three drivers with four top-10 finishes in the five races. He has a career-best finish of second at Atlanta Motors Speedway came in 2017.

LESSON IN RESILIENCY
Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and William Byron, who all had to start from the rear of the field at Phoenix, rallied to claim top-10 finishes. Larson, in particular, was resilient. After racing to eighth, he was sent to the rear of the lead lap because of a pit lane speed violation. He then weaved his way through the field to second, but again was assessed a pit lane speed violation. Larson again rose to second and eventually finished seventh.

ON THE WAY TO THE GREEN
With no practice or qualifying for the race, the starting lineup is determined by NASCAR’s metrics system that was introduced to the series last year and incorporates results from both individual races and season-long results.

Here are Team Chevy’s top-20 starters:
5th Chase Elliott, No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Camaro ZL1 1LE
6th Kyle Larson, No. 5 HendrickCars.com Camaro ZL1 1LE
9th William Byron, No. 24 Liberty University Camaro ZL1 1LE
11th Kurt Busch, No. 1 Monster Energy Camaro ZL1 1LE

QUOTABLE QUOTES
KYLE LARSON, NO. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 5th IN STANDINGS
LARSON ON RACING AT ATLANTA:
“Atlanta is a fun place to race that many of us enjoy. The surface is so worn out that you have to manage your tires. The preferred line is the ‘Harvick’ line – on the bottom – and I’ve worked hard in the past to really get that line working in turns three and four. In turns one and two, you can run the top but it’s really hard on the tires. I’m looking forward to it because I think we’ll have a really fast car there.”

CLIFF DANIELS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM CAMARO ZL1 1LE
DANIELS ON THE CHALLENGES AT ATLANTA:
“Our focus is on setting up the car so that Kyle can run the line he wants to run – whether that is low or high or wherever in the turns. Another challenge there is tire wear and fall off. If you go one lap under green and then the caution comes out, everybody is probably putting on new tires. Hopefully, we don’t have so many cautions that you run out of tires. I don’t believe that will happen.”

DANIELS ON PREPARING FOR LATE-RACE PIT STOPS:
“Calling a race is a little bit difficult under green, especially if the run goes long at the end of the race. Do you try to short pit which will guarantee you gain track position? Late in the run with 10 to go or less, newer tires with fewer laps, even if just a couple, can show speed. While you may leapfrog some early in the run, they can get you back at the end of that run. The challenge is defending against the opposite decision you made.”

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 6th IN STANDINGS
ELLIOTT ON THE CHALLENGING ATLANTA TRACK:
“Atlanta is definitely a tough place. The racetrack has a lot of wear to it – the surface is one of the oldest that we go to – so finding grip is a challenge. The track has a lot of character and is very line sensitive to where you can and can’t run to find that. You really have to hit your marks well in Atlanta to have success. I think the track conditions this weekend will be pretty similar to last year in a lot of ways. The No. 9 team and I have talked a lot about last year’s event. That’s how we are going about the set up for Sunday is from last year and taking things away from how we did, what we did good and what we can improve on.”

ELLIOTT ON RETURNING TO ATLANTA:
“It’s always nice to race in Atlanta. I’ve been racing here for a long time, raced a lot of legend cars and bandolero races here, so it’s a special place to me. Atlanta is just a fun track to come to. I think anywhere that you run three or four laps and the lap times have fallen off significantly like they are here all the time, I think that makes it fun. It makes it fun from a strategy standpoint.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE
GUSTAFSON ON WHAT THE TEAM HAS LEARNED AT INTERMEDIATE TRACKS IN 2021:
“As we head to another 1.5-mile track, we learned some deficiencies we had at Homestead and are certainly going to improve on that. At Las Vegas our NAPA Chevy was really fast, but we just had some execution issues so we need to clean those up. I really like Atlanta; it has always been a fun track and super difficult to get a hold of. I think we can take some things from those first two intermediate tracks and some of our past experience at Atlanta and try to put our best foot forward on Sunday.”

GUSTAFSON ON RACING AT ATLANTA:
“We were at Atlanta in June last year and it was fairly sunny, it wasn’t a terribly hot day so I think that the hotter it is the less grip the track is going to have. I still think it will be a place that is difficult even though it is projected to be in the 60s when we are there. I think the truth is that it’s never the same no matter what you do. We could go race there a week later and it’s just never the same. You just have to piece together all the little experiences you have and ultimately try to hit on it.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 9th IN STANDINGS
BYRON ON HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO RACE AT ATLANTA:
“Atlanta is just a tough track. It’s a little bit easier at this time of the year because it’s a bit cooler, but it’s not easy to run there ever by any means. You’re going to need to have a car that can do all the right things throughout the entire race. Luckily, I feel like this Sunday’s race will be similar to Homestead, and it gives us a good idea of what we need in our car. We can use past Atlanta notes and pair them with our Homestead notes from this year to, hopefully, continue this stretch of good runs we have going.”

BYRON ON THE TIRE FALL-OFF AT ALTANTA:
“You notice the tire fall-off really every corner at Atlanta. You may have a couple laps that the tires feel good, but after that with every corner you can feel the tires fall off and lose grip. It’s a challenge to keep the car straight at times. Add to that that you’re racing against other guys and if they take your lane away it becomes really hard to find another lane to be as fast in. It’s all really difficult to manage for that long of a period of time consistently.”

RUDY FUGLE, CREW CHIEF, NO. 24 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY CAMARO ZL1 1LE
FUGLE ON THE NO. 24 TEAM’S START TO 2021:
“I’m proud of what this team has accomplished so far this year. While we started off with a couple of hard races, we still had small victories along the way. This group never got down and worked on righting the ship to put together good solid races. Phoenix last week was a good example of that. It was just a solid mistake-free day all the way around. We need to continue to have more of those races and keep our foot on the gas.”

FUGLE ON RACING ATLANTA:
“Atlanta is a track that I have a lot of laps at. It’s a track that we use to test at with rookie drivers in the truck series, which has been the majority of my career. I feel like I have a really good idea of what we can expect the track to do, not only at this time of year, but also throughout the entirety of the race. With Atlanta having such an old, worn out surface, consistency will be key Sunday. We need to make sure not to abuse the tires early on and maintain track position at the same time. If you can manage the track and your tires throughout the run, you’ll pick up positions when other cars begin to struggle. We were able to do that at Homestead, so hopefully that carries over to this weekend’s race as well.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 BASS PRO SHOPS/TRACKER OFF ROAD CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 12th IN STANDINGS
ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY IS ANOTHER TRACK WHERE THE ASPHALT THERE IS AMONG THE FAVORITE OF THE DRIVERS, AM I RIGHT?
“It’s old, but I’m glad they’ve kept it the same. It’s a place that drivers love because you know it’s going to be slick and over time you might be able to find some grip by moving around or changing your line and being disciplined with the throttle.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 17th IN STANDINGS
BOWMAN ON RACING AT ATLANTA:
“Atlanta is a fun track. We haven’t had the results there that we should have, but it is a track where I think we can be really strong. The track is one that you can move around a lot and tire management is going to be key on Sunday. Our intermediate program at Hendrick Motorsports is definitely a strong one and I think we have a good notebook going into this weekend’s race.”

GREG IVES, CREW CHIEF, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1 1LE
IVES ON BOUNCING BACK AFTER A DIFFICULT RACE:
“You always wish there was something that would invert the field or something like that following a tough week. Ultimately, it is up to us to perform and to get those finishes and move up in the points. It is a gift that you definitely don’t want to open every week if it is on the bad side. You look at Daytona and getting wrecked while running second, having a flat left-rear at Vegas and then getting wrecked on whatever lap last week (at Phoenix). Some of those things are in our control and some of them aren’t. We have to stay focused on the positives, work on the negatives and move forward.”

ERIK JONES, NO. 43 PETTY’S GARAGE CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 23rd IN STANDINGS
THOUGHTS LOOKING AHEAD AT ATLANTA WITH YOUR PAST EXPERIENCE AT THE TRACK.
“Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of my favorite tracks with the way it wears out, how slick it is and how it wears out tires. I really enjoy that style of racing. It lends its hand to save some tire on the front side of a run and trying to be good on the second half of it. As a driver, that is fun. You want the options; you want the chance to go out and be better on old tires, be better than the guy in front of you and just manage your stuff better. That’s kind of the old-school feel of NASCAR for me, and how you grow up racing is managing that run and managing your tires to try and be there at the end of the race. I always look forward to the Atlanta race. It’s a really technical place for a 1.5-mile track and that’s what makes it fun.”

DANIEL SUAREZ, NO. 99 COMMSCOPE CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 24th IN STANDINGS
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON RACING AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY THIS WEEKEND?
“Atlanta is a lot of fun. I can’t even remember exactly what happened the last time we were there, but I love that place. It has a lot of character. It’s very difficult. It has a lot of bumps. It’s very rough on tires. Every driver is going to be screaming for grip and for downforce. But it’s a fun place. I really enjoy it a lot and I’m looking forward to going back.”

TYLER REDDICK, NO. 8 ALSCO UNIFORMS CAMARO ZL1 1LE – 27th IN STANDINGS
“Tires will be very important to having a successful race at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Even with the downforce package we have, tires still remain as a key to this track due to the extremely worn-out surface. Last year, I was still getting a feel for a Cup car when we raced at Atlanta and thought I had a tire going down during the first Stage, so now that I know what that feels like I know what to watch out for. We had some handling issues during last year’s race too where our Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE would swing from being way too loose to way too tight, so my team has looked back at last year’s notes a lot this week to prepare and have a better handling No. 8 Alsco Uniforms Chevrolet this time around. I enjoy racing at Atlanta with its old track surface, so I’m excited for this weekend.”

COREY LAJOIE, NO. 7 NFL ALUMNI/FOLDS OF HONOR CAMARO ZL1 1LE- 29th IN STANDINGS
“Atlanta is the most worn-out track on the schedule, so it’s important the car is dialed in for the long runs. Our Crew Chief, Ryan Sparks, has a solid game plan together to get our NFL Alumni/Folds of Honor Camaro ZL1 1LE towards the front from a 30th starting position. The NFL Alumni does incredible work within their community. To have them integrate the Folds of Honor to support scholarship opportunities for veterans and their families is incredibly admirable. I’m proud to represent both organizations this weekend in the QuikTrip Folds of Honor 500.”

Fr8Auctions Gets Ready for “Gr8 Weekend” in Atlanta; McDowell Ready to Race and Use Daytona 500 Championship for Bigger Platform

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 19, 2021) – Fr8Auctions, the Atlanta-based Asset Liquidation Firm that auctions excess freight inventory, is preparing for their premier weekend on the NASCAR schedule. Fr8 Auctions will welcome the NASCAR Camping World, XFINITY and Cup Series to its home state. They will be the title sponsor of Saturday’s truck series race and Michael McDowell will take Fr8 Auctions center stage during Sunday’s Cup race, driving the No. 34 Fr8 Auctions/#BraveLikeWyatt Ford Mustang.

Fr8 Auctions has found success during these difficult times. The company partners with freight lines, distribution companies, and consumer product-based businesses to help sell excess, discontinued or damaged inventory outside of traditional distribution channels. Utilizing industry leading merchandising techniques, product presentations, and a competitive bidding environment, Fr8Auctions offers both their partners and buyers opportunities to maximize returns on their investments.

With over 1 million total square feet of space at their corporate headquarters, Fr8Auctions can support even the most robust demands of their customers. With COVID challenges in the market, buyers across the nation can now access online (sealed bid) auctions to bid on thousands of pallets of merchandise, which can range from gas grills, to ceiling fans, to cleaning products. Merchandise for each auction can also be previewed at its website.

Fr8 Auctions also found success in the NASCAR Cup Series when McDowell won the Daytona 500 to begin the season. Fr8 Auctions is a premier partner of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports (FRM) program and has been a loyal partner to the organization. Bigger than that, Fr8 Auctions, FRM and McDowell also support the Be Your Own Hero Foundation with the hashtag #BraveLikeWyatt.

The Foundation was established in 2019 to honor the memory of Wyatt Hatcher, who loved life and superheroes. He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and had a heart transplant right before his second birthday. His heart transplant allowed him to enjoy life for nine more years. He fought cancer and won in 2019. Shortly after he was declared cancer free, it was found that the chemotherapy medication had damaged his donor heart. Wyatt lost his fight in January of 2020 and is loved and missed every single day. Brave Like Wyatt’s mission is to help ease the burden of families dealing with similar life circumstances by contributing to community resources, providing financial assistance for household bills, travel assistance and, when needed, funeral expenses.

With the success of the early season, McDowell wants to use his platform to continue to help others, especially the #BraveLikeWyatt cause.

“One advantage of winning the Daytona 500 is getting this bigger platform or reaching more people,” said McDowell. “Now, how do we take advantage of that? And it’s things like asking NASCAR fans to learn more about the Be Your Own Hero Foundation and learn more about Wyatt’s story. Fr8 Auctions is a great company, and the car looks ‘gr8’, but the efforts they put in to help families in hospital’s means more than all of that.

“I think it’s an honor and a blessing to be able to be in this position to help spread the news about the great works our partners are doing,” continued McDowell. “That’s where I see Fr8 Auctions taking the lead with their partnership. They use a lot of their car to promote #BraveLikeWyatt. I think that’s a big deal. So, the more we can get the car out in front of the fans, the better. The more people will go to the site and think about making a donation.

“Yeah, I want to win more races and I really want to win another Daytona 500,” concluded McDowell. All that is great, but when you can change lives and help others, that’s pretty special. So, hopefully we can get a lot of TV time this weekend or some more people can post about #BraveLikeWyatt on their social media pages. We can all come together and make a difference.”

CR7 Motorsports; Codie Rohrbaugh hope to keep the momentum rolling at Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga: After allowing Grant Enfinger to pinch-hit in the most recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, CR7 Motorsports primary driver Codie Rohrbaugh returns to the seat for Saturday afternoon’s FR8 Auctions 200 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway.

Rohrbaugh returns to the cockpit determined to keep the steady start to the 2021 Truck Series alive after Enfinger delivered the team’s second top-10 finish of the year in just three races overall.

In order to keep his team positioned nicely inside the top-10 in the Truck Series owner standings, Rohrbaugh knows he’ll need a much cleaner race at Atlanta’s 1.5-mile track Saturday than he experienced last summer in Hampton.

Rohrbaugh started 16th in last June’s Vet Tix | Camping World 200 but throughout the race, his No. 9 Grant County Mulch | CR7 Motorsports Garage Chevrolet Silverado suffered a series of flat tires and with little attrition during the race, they finished a disappointing 33rd.

This year, Rohrbaugh is hoping for a vast rebound.

“I’m looking forward to Atlanta this weekend, simply because of the good start to the season for everyone at CR7 Motorsports,” said Rohrbaugh. “Grant did a great job at Las Vegas and was able to deliver us another top-10 finish and give us some feedback that we feel should be beneficial in helping us strengthen our program throughout the year.

“Atlanta wasn’t too kind to us last year, but it’s a new year which means a new opportunity and I think we are capable of delivering another top-10 finish on Saturday afternoon.”

Despite missing Las Vegas, the 27-year-old Rohrbaugh remains comfortably inside the top-20 in the championship standings with 19 races remaining in 2021.

“The start to this season is much like it was last were the first couple of races were real good for our CR7 Motorsports team,” offered Rohrbaugh. “But the most important thing no matter who is behind the wheel is keeping the momentum on our side and keep learning and growing as a team.

“We’ll see where the cards are stacked at the end of the season. The championship may be out of reach because of the eligibility requirement, but surely top-fives, top-10s and maybe even a win aren’t out of the question and that will be our focus as the season moves along.”
With an average team finish of 10th in the first three races of 2021 with finishes of eighth, 16th and seventh in the first three races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course and Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway respectively – Rohrbaugh said the team’s performances come from the hard work and dedication of his CR7 Motorsports brothers.

“I’m proud of everyone’s hard work so far this season,” added Rohrbaugh. “Whether it’s me or Grant behind the wheel, the team has been at it working hard to make sure our CR7 Motorsports trucks go to the track competitive and prepared to do battle.

“It would be great to earn another top-10 finish on Friday night and keep the momentum on our side ahead of the upcoming races.”

CR7 Motorsports has 30 NGOTS starts to their credit with a career-best finish of third at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2020). Additionally, the team owns five other top-10 finishes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway (fifth) in October 2020, Richmond (Va.) Raceway (sixth) in September 2020, Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway (seventh | Grant Enfinger) in March 2021, Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (eighth) in February 2021 and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway (10th) in October 2019. An 11th place qualifying effort at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway (Oct. 2019) is the team’s best time trials effort to date.

In 20 career ARCA starts, Rohrbaugh has a best finish of seventh twice at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (July 2018 and Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2019). He has qualified a career-best fourth on four different occasions, most recently at Kansas Speedway (Oct. 2018).

Marketing partnership(s) opportunities are available for the No. 97 A.L.L. Construction | Grant County Mulch Chevrolet and No. 9 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series seasons and beyond. Interested inquiries are encouraged to contact at tonya@gcmulch.com or 304.257.8783.

The FR8 Auctions 200 (130 laps | 200.02 miles) is the fourth of 22 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races on the 2021 schedule. The 40-truck field will take the green flag on Sat., Mar. 20, 2021, shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 90.

Team Hardpoint EBM Earns Porsche Carrera Cup Podium North America in Pro-Am With Efrin Castro, Riley Dickinson Sixth in Pro Class

The Debut of Porsche Carrera Cup North America is also the First Podium for Team Hardpoint EBM

SEBRING, Florida (March 18, 2021) – Team Hardpoint EBM’s Efrin Castro scored a Pro-Am class podium with a Porsche Carrera Cup North America runner-up finish and teammate Riley Dickinson held on for sixth place in a competitive Pro Class at Sebring International Raceway on Thursday.

The podium finish was the first for Team Hardpoint EBM as an organization following the merging of Team Hardpoint and Earl Bamber Motorsport last November, and came in the debut for the IMSA-sanctioned Porsche Carrera Cup North America.

Castro started his No. 65 Fine Fare Supermarkets/GoDominicanRepublic.com Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on the class pole but had to take evasive action on the opening lap to miss a Pro class car that spun near the front of the field. That maneuver dropped Castro back to second place behind eventual winner Alan Metni and put him in chase mode through the 45-minute race.

His opportunity came with five minutes remaining following a late full-course caution period. Now directly behind the class leader, Castro took the lead momentarily on the final lap. The pair rand side-by-side through several corners before Castro ultimately finished second.

“I have to give thanks to my team here at Team Hardpoint EBM,” Castro said. “They’re getting me up to speed very quickly. This is just the beginning; I feel like I can improve a lot more. I couldn’t be happier with the result that we got today. I’m really proud of the team and myself for accomplishing it. I have to give credit to Metni. He fought and fought clean. We fought to the end. I thought I could get a good run on him through 17 on the last lap and get a photo finish, it was that close.”

Dickinson’s No. 53 Porsche Austin/Team Hardpoint EBM Porsche 911 GT3 Cup started the race in fourth position overall and in the Pro class and chased the leaders until the full-course caution with 15-minutes remaining. On the restart, a tire issue slowed Dickinson and cost him two positions.

“The end result doesn’t tell the whole story,” Dickinson said. “I’m happy with my performance and happy with what I did. Ultimately outside factors, what I call ‘B Factors,’ just got in the way. I’m happy for the team. They did a great job with Efrin and with me, we just didn’t quite put it together with the Porsche Austin car. But I’m very confident we’ll be able to put it back together and make a run at it tomorrow.”

The debut of Porsche Carrera Cup North America was the first IMSA podium for Team Hardpoint EBM. The team is a venture between Rob Ferriol’s Team Hardpoint and Earl Bamber and Will Bamber’s Earl Bamber Motorsport, which has and continues to field teams in Australia and Asia, among others. In addition to Carrera Cup North America, the team has a pair of Porsches in the GT Daytona class of the top-level IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“It’s really cool,” Earl Bamber said. “Everyone has put a lot of hard work in. Efrin did an amazing job and almost got our first win as a team. That would have been a great accolade. We’re improving week by week, it’s a bit rushed to get everything together in a short period of time. Considering where we are operational and performance-wise already and we’ve got a lot way to go, it’s quite exciting for the future.”

Castro, Dickinson and Team Hardpoint EBM’s Carrera Cup effort return to action with a second 45-minute race from Sebring on Friday morning at 10:10 a.m. ET. Dickinson will start fourth overall and in the Pro Class, with Castro once again on the Pro-Am pole based on their second-fastest lap times in Thursday’s qualifying session. The race can be seen live at IMSA.tv.

Selin Rollan wins Mazda MX-5 Cup at Sebring in Three-Wide Photo Finish

The 0.001-second margin of victory is the second-closest finish in series history

SEBRING, Fla. (March 18, 2021) – The Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires put on another jaw-dropping show for its Round Three race on Thursday at Sebring International Raceway. The top three drivers, who ran nose-to-tail for the entire 45-minute race, crossed the finish line three-wide in a textbook photo finish.

Polesitter Gresham Wagner (No. 5 Spark Performance) led a three-car train that included Selin Rollan (No. 87 Hixon Motor Sports) and Michael Carter (No. 08 Carter Racing Enterprises) for most of the race. Wagner and Rollan traded spots in the early laps, but Wagner eventually took control of the lead.

The lead trio lost their advantage on the rest of the field when a full-course yellow came out for a crash in Turn One. Luca Mars (No. 41 Copeland Motorsports) went wide on the exit of the corner then made contact with Jenson Altzman (No. 13 McCumbee McAleer Racing).

The field followed the safety car around the circuit for 12 minutes while the two cars were cleared from Turn One.

When the green came back out, the lead trio resumed their three-car breakaway, but were a bit scrappier and Carter took his turn at the front.

“We were fortunate enough to get a breakaway,” Carter said. “And, you know, that’s how I like to race these races. Get out front in a smaller group and then duke it out for the finish. Fortunately, we were able to do that early in the race and then again after the restart.”

On the final lap, Carter, Wagner and Rollan were pushing each other hard for the top spot. The order had already changed three times as the pack exited the final turn for one last drag race. A fourth and final lead change came as the three cars crossed the finish line door-to-door. The timing screens showed Rollan as the winner by 0.001-second over Carter, making it the second closest finish in Mazda MX-5 Cup history.

“To start things off, I had no radio,” Rollan said. “We [Michael Carter and Gresham Wagner] made a gap and we were all on board to make a gap and then we got the double yellow. I thought it was all going to be over and that it was going to be a crazy race to the finish. But luckily, we were able to bring that gap back after the restart.

“Once the white flag came out we were racing hard and I was able to get by Gresham (Wagner). I got by (Michael) Carter on the back straightaway. We all went deep into (Turn) 17 and I got a run on Gresham. Then, passing the start finish line I had no idea that Michael was even there or that we even won the race. So I went through that whole cool down lap not knowing where we finished. Thanks to Hixon Motorsports for putting me in this car this year. We worked hard at it, and it wasn’t the best the whole week, but it was the best it’s been during the race. I’m excited for the team and ready to get racing tomorrow.”

Carter was the leader as the pack exited Turn One on the final lap, but a mistake in Turn Seven cost him.

“Selin and Gresham, tried to race each other into 17 on the white flag lap,” Carter said. “I was in the lead and I made a mistake in the hotel turn, so coming down the back straightaway to 17, I kind of thought, well maybe they’ll out-brake each other. So I didn’t lift or anything, but they had a run there to the finish. No one blocked, and I was able to cross over them, but I was one spot short at the end.

“But that was a lot of fun, you know. I was glad, we were three-wide across the finish line clean and we don’t have much work to do for tomorrow, so it should be a good one. It was a really good race.”

Wagner lead the most laps of the race and will score 10 bonus points as a result, but he drew the short stick when it came to the finish.

“It’s a tradeoff to run in the lead; you have the clean air, but you have to run hard and keep the pace up at the front,” Wagner said. “So my water temp was down and my tire temp was up I guess. I like to lead, generally, if I can. The guys behind me were having to pull out of line at every straightaway to get clean air while I could just run my laps.

“I made a mistake going into Turn One which gave up the lead. I wasn’t too worried once I regrouped because I knew that the draft is so important here. I knew they were going to drive in pretty hard going into the last corner, so I just waited for them to push out a little bit. I cut under, and took the lead for a second there, but Turn 17 is a basically a triple apex corner so they did the over under and had a little bit more momentum coming to the line. I wasn’t sure if I got second or third, but it was a good race regardless.”

Rollan is the third different winner of the season so far. The two racers that flanked him on the podium were each winners at Daytona.

Justin Piscitell (No. 89 McCumbee McAleer Racing) led the second pack of cars across the line in fourth ahead of Drake Kemper (No. 99 Provision Motorsports) and Aaron Jeansonne (No. 24 Provision Motorsports). Before the full-course caution, this was the battle to watch when the lead pack was playing it conservative, and they didn’t let up until the checkered flag.

Rookie John Jodoin (No. 31 McCumbee McAleer Racing) earned the Hard Charger Award for advancing 14 positions in the race, from 24th on the grid to 10th at the finish. He and his crew chief each received $1,000 from Mazda for the impressive feat.

Two spots behind him was Chris Nunes (No. 32 JTR Engineering) who had a rough restart from yellow, making slight contact with the Turn One tires. Despite this, Nunes managed to turn the fastest lap of the race on the second-to-last lap, a 2:27.322.

Sam Paley (No. 28 McCumbee McAleer Racing), who finished seventh in Thursday’s race, will start from the pole in Friday’s Round Four race. He’ll share the front row with Piscitell.

Friday’s race is set to start at 9:00am ET and will be streamed live on IMSA.com.

Atlanta Speedwerks’ Brian Henderson Scores IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Pole at Sebring

Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 - IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge - Sebring International Raceway - 84 Atlanta Speedwerks Honda Civic TCR, Brian Henderson

Henderson Earned His First Career Motul Pole Award on His Final Flying Lap of the Session in the No. 84 Sabelt/Pagid Honda Civic TCR

SEBRING, Florida (March 18, 2021) – Brian Henderson earned his first career Motul Pole Award in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition, landing the No. 84 Sabelt/Pagid Honda Civic TCR on the top spot Thursday at Sebring International Raceway.

Henderson completed his final flying lap around the 17-turn Sebring International Raceway after the checkered flag had flown, improving to a time of 2:14.806 (99.876 mph) to claim the point for Friday’s Alan Jay 120 by just 0.146-second. Atlanta Speedwerks is now two for two on the season. Though the pole is the first for Henderson, co-driver Robert Noaker matched the effort in the opening round at Daytona.

Henderson was actually second, less than two-tenths behind the provisional polesitting car, but on a flying lap when the checkered flag came out. He was the last of 15 TCR-class cars on the track when his lap completed.

“We had high hopes coming into the race and we just checked something off the list so we’re feeling really good about that,” Henderson said. “Everything is really good, the team meshes well, the car is good, Honda has given us great support. Everything is going as good as it could be and we’re in a really good spot for this race. I know we’ll have some speed and be competitive. Now we have to pull this off and maybe have both cars on the podium.”

Noaker and Henderson led the most laps at Daytona’s four-hour season opener before contact ended their day with a disappointing finish.

The No. 94 Dinner With Racers/Lemons of Love Honda Civic TCR will start on the inside of the eighth row after Greg Strelzoff qualified with a best time of 2:19.740 (96.350 mph). Strelzoff and co-driver Ryan Eversley finished second in the season opener at Daytona.

The two-hour Alan Jay 120 is round two of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge calendar, available to watch live through TrackPass on the NBCSN app on Friday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Noteworthy: Atlanta Speedwerks is utilizing Daniel Benjamin’s Pit Crews to help vet and select crew members for the two-car program this week at Sebring. The UK-based program uses their more than 18 years of experience in motorsports to match potential crew members with team needs. More information can be found at pitcrews.co.uk.

Stoner Car Care Racing Takes Eighth on Grid at Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (18 March 2021) – With a steady effort in brutally hot conditions, Stoner Car Care Racing fielded by Automatic Racing secured a top-10 starting position for Friday’s Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 (2:35 p.m. Eastern, TRACKPASS) at Sebring International Raceway, race two of the 2021 Michelin Pilot Challenge season.

With only two practice sessions ahead of the qualifying session, drivers Rob Ecklin, Jr. (Lancaster, Pa.) and Brandon Kidd (Syracuse, NY) focused on finding the optimal setup for their No. 09 Stoner Car Care Aston Martin Vantage GT4 as quickly as possible. Ecklin, a Sebring veteran, worked closely with Kidd throughout the practice sessions, as Kidd was making his Sebring debut.

With ambient temperatures of 90 degrees and track temps over 100 degrees, grip was at a premium as Kidd took the wheel for the 15-minute qualifying session. Making steady progress with his lap times, managing traffic as well as the heat and resulting lack of grip over Sebring’s 3.74-mile combination of concrete and asphalt, Kidd posted his quickest time on his final lap. Setting a lap time of 2:13.102, he placed the Aston Martin in the 8th position for tomorrow’s two-hour race.

Kidd was both happy and disappointed with his effort – pleased with his best IMPC qualifying effort in his first time at the legendary road course, but ruing time lost in traffic on that final lap.

“It was a very tough session with the track conditions changing quickly and the extreme heat,” said Kidd. “There was less grip out there this afternoon than there had been during the morning practice and I really feel as though there was more in the car, but we were able to get ourselves an eighth-place start for the race tomorrow. There is always a perfect lap out there, but the Stoner Car Care/Automatic Racing team did a great job and we’re happy with these results.

“This is the first time that I have raced here at Sebring, and it is always difficult to show up to a new track with the competition that we have in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series. I prepared a lot before I got here, on iRacing and on the simulator. Even though we did not have a great deal of seat time, I knew what to do as soon as I got into the car because I prepared so much. Sebring is such a fun track that does separate the good drivers from the rest. It is quickly becoming a favorite track of mine! To win tomorrow, we will need to maintain track position as well as keeping the car clean. Putting that all together with quick pit stops will keep us in contention at the end of the race.”

The Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 takes the green flag Friday, March 19 at 2:35 p.m. Eastern. The race will be broadcast live in the U.S. on NBC Sports Gold’s TRACKPASS, while international viewers can watch via IMSA.tv. IMSA Radio will also be available at IMSA.com. NBCSN will broadcast a two-hour race recap on Friday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern (check local listings).
