MBM Motorsports to run Trump 2020 Scheme at Talladega Superspeedway

MBM Motorsports, Team Owner Carl Long, and Driver Timmy Hill will run the patriotic scheme NASCAR fans have become familiar with this season this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. MBM Motorsports will be working in a partnership with Go Fas Racing this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway and will switch from Toyota’s and enter a Ford Mustang for their NASCAR Cup Series #66 for this weekend’s YellaWood 500.

In an effort to assist the reelection efforts of President Trump, MBM Motorsports has hopped aboard the “Trump Train” with driver Timmy Hill.

“There are 75 million NASCAR fans out there and when we first started this partnership, I was surprised that about 15 million of those fans are not registered voters,” said Archie St. Hilaire, owner of Go Fas Racing. “We want every American citizen to know that their vote can and will make a difference just one month from now. I’m very happy that Timmy, Carl, and everyone at MBM Motorsports realizes how important this election is for everyone and we hope that we can assist President Trump with his reelection campaign.”

This partnership is also with the Patriots of America, a political action committee calling for the reelection of Donald Trump. Now under 35 days until Election Day, both GFR and MBM Motorsports are hoping to help get NASCAR fans to the polls in November.

Sweet Home Alabama, Talladega On Deck

· The final Superspeedway race of the 2020 season is on tap for this weekend, as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Talladega for a Sunday afternoon event. It marks the second race in the Round of 12, with the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway next weekend as the cutoff race.
· The starting lineup will continue to be set by three competition-based metrics, rewarding both season-long and single-race performance. Buescher will line up 15th for Sunday’s race, while Newman will fire off 19th.
· Four weeks of NASCAR action were completed prior to the COVID-19 hiatus with races at Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, Dover and Martinsville postponed before the schedule later picked back up in mid-May.

Vegas Recap, Talladega Preview

· Newman found himself in the thick of the action late in Sunday’s race in Vegas, before being shuffled back on a final restart to finish 15th.
· Buescher also was well inside the top-five for a series of late restarts in Vegas, and went on to finish ninth in the SunnyD Ford.
· Guaranteed Rate returns to Newman’s machine for the Sunday afternoon race, where he finished second in a photo finish a year ago in the fall.
· SunnyD is back on Buescher’s No. 17 Ford Mustang in Talladega for the second leg of the #SUNNYDouble. Photo Finish at the Line Last Fall

It came down to the final few inches for Newman at Talladega last fall, as he finished second behind Ryan Blaney by .007 seconds, the sixth-closest finish in NASCAR history. Newman lined up fifth on the inside line for the final restart with three laps to go. After a four-car group went single-file coming to the white flag, Newman took the lead and led coming out of turn four and through the tri-oval before Blaney snuck to his inside just before the start/finish line. It was a long 188 laps for the entire field as rain set in after 57 laps were completed, postponing the finish to Monday afternoon.

Running Clear Across Alabama

Roush Fenway has seen its fair share of success at the Alabama track, amassing 271 starts, eight wins, 44 top-fives and 93 top-10s across NASCAR’s three major touring series. Roush machines have also tallied seven poles, including three in cup action, and have led more than 1500 laps.

Winning in Greenbow

Roush Fenway has won in all three of NASCAR’s major series at Talladega. The team won its first race at Talladega in the NCS event in the spring of 1995. Former Roush Fenway driver Mark Martin won for the organization in all three series at the 2.66-mile oval.

Most recently, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. piloted his Fifth Third Bank Ford to victory lane three years ago when the NCS rolled through Talladega for the organization’s eighth win at the historic track.

Fastest Chicken in the South

Former Roush Fenway driver Mark Martin won the fastest Cup race ever recorded on May 10, 1997 at Talladega piloting the No. 6 Ford. Martin, who held off NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt, started from the 18th position and led 47 laps en route to the victory. The race saw 26 lead changes and had an average speed of 188.354 mph.

Roush Fenway has started 212 NCS races at Talladega with 76 top-10 and 37 top-five finishes along with three poles. (Sept. 30, 2020) – Race fans will have an experience like no other when the NASCAR Cup Series visits Austin, Texas and the Circuit of the Americas for the first-time, courtesy of Speedway Motorsports. The inaugural running of the NASCAR Cup Series at COTA will take place on May 23, 2021.

As Speedway Motorsports celebrates its 25th season next year at Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas/Fort Worth, adding a NASCAR Cup Series point race in the state capitol of Austin will make 2021 the biggest year ever for NASCAR in the Lone Star State.

“Everything is bigger in Texas, including our passion for NASCAR, and NASCAR will be even bigger and better in Texas in 2021 with the addition of this race in Austin,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “Along with the races at Texas Motor Speedway, this will be a great experience for NASCAR fans in Texas, while also boosting the Texas economy.

Designed to challenge the world’s most talented drivers, Circuit of the Americas includes a 3.41-mile, 20-turn counterclockwise circuit and a newly reconfigured 2.2-mile, 15-turn short course. COTA is America’s only facility that annually hosts both Formula 1 and MotoGP races, and is also the only FIA-certified Grade 1 track in the United States. The 1,500-acre entertainment complex has also hosted ESPN’s X Games as well as some of the biggest names in music including Taylor Swift, Metallica, Kenny Chesney and Justin Timberlake on the COTA Super Stage.

Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart made a demonstration run in a No. 14 Haas Automation Ford Mustang last October at COTA. After driving the course in the 3,200-pound stock car, Stewart was intrigued about the possibility of NASCAR coming to Austin, and now that it’s official, he’s already looking forward to next May.

“The track was a lot of fun to drive. It’s very technical and there will be a lot of ways for the Cup Series drivers to attack it,” said Stewart, a 2020 inductee to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “The corners get tighter, tighter, tighter and it’s going to be hard on braking. There are several potential passing zones.

“This will be a challenge for the drivers, a heck of a show for the fans, and Austin will be a great place for teams to entertain sponsors. This is a big-time addition to the 2021 NASCAR schedule.”
