TEAM CHEVY NASCAR RACE ADVANCE: Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course

TEAM CHEVY ADVANCE
Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course
October 3-5, 2025

NASCAR will take center stage at “America’s Home For Racing” this weekend with all three national touring series tackling the 2.28-mile road course that lies within Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This marks the first time in the circuit’s history to host a tripleheader weekend as the Craftsman Truck Series is set to make its first-ever appearance on the 17-turn course to kickoff its Round of Eight. For the Cup and Xfinity Series, the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course will once again serve as the elimination race for the Round of 12 for each division. Already the circuit’s winningest manufacturer, Chevrolet will enter the race weekend as the circuit’s defending winners in both of NASCAR’s top-two divisions.

Chevrolet at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course:

The Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a staple piece of NASCAR history – most commonly known as the site for one of the Cup Series’ crown jewel events, the Coca-Cola 600. During the 2018 season, a 17-turn, 2.28-mile configuration within the iconic venue was introduced to NASCAR’s top-two divisions as a pivotal stop on their respective postseason schedules. Throughout the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course’s short seven-race history, Chevrolet has been a force to be reckoned with – entering the weekend with five Cup Series wins and six Xfinity Series wins.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are the only two-time Charlotte ROVAL winners in NASCAR’s top division. Elliott delivered Chevrolet its first checkered-flag at the circuit in 2019, with the 29-year-old Dawsonville, Georgia, native making a return visit to victory lane the following season – a win that provided as a stepping stone to his first career Cup Series championship. For Larson, his first of two Charlotte ROVAL triumphs also came in his championship-earning season (2021), with the 33-year-old Elk Grove, California, native holding the reigns as the circuit’s defending winner. Fellow Team Chevy teammate, AJ Allmendinger, is the only driver in the circuit’s history to earn a victory in both of NASCAR’s top-two divisions – driving a Kaulig Racing-prepared Chevrolet to one Cup Series win (2023), as well as four-straight Xfinity Series wins (2019-2023).

 LOCKED-IN

Heading into the Charlotte race weekend, Chevrolet is the only manufacturer that has already earned an early berth into the Round of Eight in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series.

Last weekend at Kansas Speedway, Chase Elliott turned a 14-point cushion into an automatic ticket to the next round after a dramatic overtime finish that saw the Hendrick Motorsports driver make a final-corner pass to take his second checkered-flag of the 2025 Cup Series season. The Dawsonville, Georgia, native proved to be a contender throughout the day at the Heartland-based oval – driving his No. 9 Chevrolet to a pair of top-four stage finishes en route to the win and a strong 55-point race (second-best). While he can rest easy heading into the second elimination race of the playoffs, this weekend provides for the perfect opportunity to add to his points bank. Elliott is a seven-time road course winner in NASCAR’s top division – the most of all active drivers. In his seven career starts at the Charlotte Road Course, he’s tallied five top-10 finishes, including his two wins and a fifth-place finish last season.

In the Xfinity Series, the JR Motorsports duo of Connor Zilisch and Justin Allgaier are the only drivers to have earned an early berth into the Round of Eight on points. Zilisch added onto an already career season by driving the No. 88 Chevrolet to his 16th-consecutive top-five finish – breaking the record previously set by Sam Ard over four decades ago (1983). Turning in a 49-pont race (second-most of the race), Zilisch was able to reach a triple-digit points cushion ahead of the series’ first elimination race of the postseason. For the reigning champion, a gamble in late-race pit strategy didn’t play into his favor, but a sweep of the stage wins helped lead the No. 7 Chevrolet team to a 68-point cutline cushion and an already guaranteed spot into the next round.

Larson, Byron Bank Strong Points Cushion

Kyle Larson and William Byron are two-for-two in top-10 finishes in the Round of 12 – leading the pair of teammates to a comfortable points position heading into the Charlotte race weekend. Larson currently sits in the top provisional playoff position, third, with a 54-point advantage over the cutline. The Elk Grove, California, native’s two top-five finishes at the Charlotte Road Course have come in the form of a win – one of which came in the series’ most recent appearance at the circuit. Byron and the No. 24 Chevrolet turned a working day into the ultimate rebound at Kansas Speedway – bringing home a ninth-place finish to still maintain a strong 40-point cushion. In his seven career starts at the Charlotte Road Course, the 27-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, native has collected four top-six finishes, including back-to-back podium results the past-two seasons.

CHASTAIN STILL IN THE FIGHT

Ross Chastain holds the first position on the outside looking in, but is still very much within striking distance at a chance to advance into the Round of Eight with the Team Chevy driver heading to “America’s Home for Racing” just 13-points below the cutline. While the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course hasn’t always been nice to the Trackhouse Racing driver, Chastain has proven he knows how to navigate left- and right-hand turns. Chastain became a first-time winner in NASCAR’s top division on a road course, which came behind the wheel of the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet at Circuit of The Americas in 2022. This season, the 33-year-old Alva, Florida, native has earned two top-10 finishes on road courses – one of which came at the series’ most recent road course race (Watkins Glen International). Chastain also carries a little added confidence heading into the weekend as the Team Chevy driver will return to the site of his last Cup Series win, which came on the facility’s oval configuration during one of the sport’s crown jewel events (2025 Coca-Cola 600).

SVG, ALLMENDINGER AMONG PLAYOFF SPOILER HOPEFULS

While they might not be contending for a championship title, two of the sport’s top road course ringers – Shane van Gisbergen and AJ Allmendinger – have a playoff upset within reach.

Coming off his career-best oval finish in NASCAR’s top division, Van Gisbergen will turn his attention to what he knows best – making left- and right-hand turns. The 36-year-old Auckland, New Zealand, native is a five-time Cup Series winner, with each of those triumphs coming on a road course. In five road course events this season, Van Gisbergen has yet to finish outside of the top-six, including four-straight trips to victory lane. The road course king has made just one start at the Charlotte Road Course (2024) – a weekend that started with the Team Chevy driver earning his first career Cup Series pole win and ended with a seventh-place result.

Allmendinger has proved to be a favorite during each visit to the Charlotte Road Course. The 43-year-old Los Gatos, California, native is the only driver to reach victory lane at the circuit in both of NASCAR’s top-two divisions, including one Cup Series win and four-straight Xfinity Series wins. Allmendinger has driven a Kaulig Racing-prepared Chevrolet to top-seven finishes in four of his five career Cup Series starts at the North Carolina-based circuit, including a sixth-place finish one year ago. The veteran is a three-time Cup Series winner, with his most recent coming in the 2023 Charlotte ROVAL event.

HEMRIC LEADS TEAM CHEVY INTO NCTS ROUND OF EIGHT

With the first round of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs in the books, Chevrolet will head into the Round of Eight with a manufacturer-leading four representatives that remain in title contention. McAnally-Hilgemann Racing’s Daniel Hemric will lead the Bowtie brigade into the next round ranked third in the playoff standings. The 34-year-old Kannapolis, North Carolina, native has turned in top-10 results in each of the series’ road course events this season, including a runner-up finish at Watkins Glen International. A veteran in the NASCAR national ranks, Hemric has the advantage of previous experience around the 2.28-mile circuit – making a handful of starts in both the Cup and Xfinity Series. Notably, he’s produced top-10 results in four of his five career Xfinity Series starts at the Charlotte Road Course, including back-to-back podium appearances (2020-2021).

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

What do you need to be able to go to the Round of 8?

“Be on the throttle more. More time on the gas, more speed.”

What is the strategy for the Roval race to get to the next round?

“Phil Surgen and the guys get to figure out how to get stage points and set ourselves up for the end of the race. A lot of it depends on speed. If we’re fast enough to battle with SVG, then we don’t care as much about stage points because we’re fast and we just go win the race.”

Justin Haley, No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

The ROVAL marks the final road course of the season, and you’ve earned top-20 finishes at both COTA and Sonoma. What’s your mindset going into this weekend’s race?

“I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of the ROVAL. It’s exciting for both the drivers and the fans, which brings its importance to a premium. We’ve been working towards getting the road course package more comfortable and I’ve had some of my best races at the ROVAL. I’m looking forward to racing at home this weekend.”

Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

You have three top-five finishes at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. What are some of the keys to success here?

“The key to running well at the ROVAL is just staying out of trouble and trying to keep your momentum rolling all the way around the racetrack. There are some big braking zones where you can really attack and get a lot of slowing down done in a quick period of time but the infield section has such little grip and is so bumpy that you’re just trying to control the slip and not go too fast and crash. It’s about tiptoeing as much as you can with carrying the right amount of roll speed.”

Since the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL is a cutoff race in the Playoffs, do you expect more contact and more chaos late in the race? What is the best way to stay out of that mess?

“I think you expect more contact, more chaos, and more desperation moves at times. I also think there are some payback opportunities where guys will dump guys if they know they’re in a make it or break it situation and they’re on the bubble. That is always kind of on the table as well at the ROVAL. It would be nice to just stay out of that.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet

“The Charlotte ROVAL is always one of my favorite races. Our team has so many great memories there and we hope to go make some more. I’ve struggled a little bit this year when it comes to our road course program, but we have put a lot of effort in to have good speed and be competitive. Obviously, the ultimate goal is to compete for the win, but for how the year’s gone on the road course side of it, running top five, avoiding mistakes, and giving ourselves an opportunity to be there at the end will be a successful day for us.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 47 Hyak Motorsports Chevrolet

“The Roval is one of the most unique challenges of the year, and our team has worked hard to prepare. With Real American Beer back on the car and the opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, it’s a weekend that means a lot to all of us. We’ll give it everything we’ve got.”

Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

Talk about the ROVAL from the point of view of a road course ace?

“The ROVAL is unique, it’s one of a kind in the sense that it’s not like any other road courses we see. It’s not a typical or standard road course. But the oval part of it isn’t really a thing anymore. I think in the old car you had to choose whether you wanted your car to go through the banking or go through the infield, whereas now in the Next-Gen car it’s not really a hybrid, as much. So, set up wise you’re thinking about it from a road-course standpoint, but it’s very unique.”

Carson Hocevar, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

How has your approach to road course races changed over the last year?

“Last year, in general, our focus was to finish races. We’ve changed that approach to going for wins and going as hard as we can so I think that’s allowed me to learn more about racing up front and challenging for position. I think there’s a lot of opportunity on road courses and we’ve run decent this year, it’s just finishing it out.”

Have you adjusted your driving style throughout the playoffs as you race around guys that are trying to advance to Phoenix?

“Not really. I’m not going to intentionally put anyone in a bad spot, but we’re still here to win races. I appreciate what they are fighting for and don’t want to be the driver that ruins someone’s playoff run. I just rely on the team to keep me updated on what is going on and I focus on my goal, which is getting to the front.”

Shane van Gisbergen, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Your first top-10 on an oval last weekend at Kansas, how does it feel?

“It feels great, it was an awesome day! It was good to get our first top-10 in Kansas. Wasn’t ideal that we had to go a lap down at the start but just continued to work our way forward. Took me some time to get confident, but the car was really good and it allowed me to have confidence in myself as the race progressed. Really stoked for that finish and proud of all my guys on the 88 team. We are getting a lot better at these (ovals).”

Heading into the Roval, how excited are you to get back on a road course?

“I’m excited. I always enjoy turning right (laughs). It’s a track I’ve been too before, and I did decent there last year in both Cup and Xfinity. It’s definitely a little different than your average road course, but it’s a lot of fun. Hopefully it will be a great weekend!”

Daniel Suarez, No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

You have a win and a pole position at the Cup level on road courses. How much do you like road racing?

“I really like road course racing and I think we will be competitive this weekend at the ROVAL. I want to thank everyone at Choice Privileges for their support this season. We have been consistent at the ROVAL over the last few races and I think we can be even more competitive this weekend.”

Connor Zilisch, No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet

“The road courses have been really good for the WeatherTech team this year so I’m excited to have one in the playoffs. I’ve been to the Roval before in a Trans Am car but never in a Xfinity car. I’ve got a little bit of experience but I’m excited to go there again and get the feel of the new layout. It looks really cool and it’s always great to race in my hometown.”

Does that little bit of experience give you an edge to get ready for the Roval?

“It’s always good to have laps at a track before you go there but it’s obviously going to be different. It is helpful but it’s not going to be a huge advantage for me, especially with those guys that I’m racing against raced there last year.”

The Roval is a cutoff race leading into the Round of 8. How intense do you think that race will be?

“It’s going to be a little bit more chaotic than most given that it’s a cutoff race but that doesn’t change our goals and our mindset. We go to the track every week, especially with the speed that we’ve had at the road courses, just go and execute. I feel like we’ve done a really good job of that at most of the road courses this year. If we go and do our job, I know we’ll have a really good shot at it. I feel like with the speed of our JRM cars we shouldn’t have too much trouble around there.”

Does having a home track in the Playoffs give you a little bit of a break?

“I always love getting to drive from my house to the track and Charlotte is a place that we can do that. It’s going to be nice to get a weekend where we can race at our home track and not have to fly somewhere. I almost won at the oval earlier this year and hopefully I can win in my hometown.”

Layne Riggs Notes

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will start the Round of 8 for the series’ playoffs this Friday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. Not only will this be the first time the Truck Series has visited the 2.28-mile road course, but Layne Riggs will also make his debut at the track. Riggs has three previous road course starts—COTA in 2024, along with Lime Rock and Watkins Glen earlier this season.

CLEW Nicotine Pouches will return to Riggs’ No. 34 Ford F-150 for the 67-lap event. Crafted by Nevcore Innovations, CLEW delivers lasting satisfaction with an ultra-smooth mouthfeel that sets a new standard in the industry. Each can contains 20 pouches, offering a convenient and discreet way to enjoy your nicotine wherever, whenever. Learn more about CLEW at www.clewpouches.com.

“The Round of 8 is going to be a challenge, but the team and I are ready for it,” said Riggs. “My approach hasn’t changed—I take it race by race and focus on maximizing our performance at every track. The Roval and Talladega are going to be critical, and our goal is to leave those races with a strong enough points buffer to carry us into Phoenix. Martinsville has always been a good track for me—I’ve run in the top-five there—but the key across all three races is being consistent and putting together solid days. Hopefully, we can build a big enough points buffer or even grab a win to carry us into Phoenix.”

Chandler Smith Notes

While this will be the Truck Series’ debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, it won’t be Chandler Smith’s first time at the track. In two NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Smith has a 12th place finish from the 2023 event and a fifth place finish in 2024.

The No. 38 team will sport a returning brand on their Ford F-150 as the Pete Store joins Smith at the Roval. The Pete Store offers sales, services, leasing, parts, and financing of Peterbilt trucks. Fans can learn more at www.ThePeteStore.com.

“We’re out of the Playoffs, but there is still a lot left on the table to race for,” said Smith. “There are four races left in the season, and I want to win all four. I consider myself a pretty good road course racer, but this is a new track for the Truck Series so it will be interesting to see how everyone stacks up. We’ve got The Pete Store on the truck this weekend, and their paint scheme is one of my favorites. We ran it at Richmond and brought home a top-10, so hopefully we can do it again and finish even stronger with them on board.”

Toyota GAZOO Racing Weekly Preview 10.01.25

This Week in Motorsports: Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2025

NCS/NXS/NCTS: Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL – Oct. 3-5
ARCA: Toledo Speedway – Oct. 4

PLANO, Texas (Oct. 1, 2025) – NASCAR returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend to take on the 2.32-mile ROVAL course where all three national series are competing. The Truck Series begins its Round of 8 on Friday, while the Xfinity and Cup Series complete their Round of 12 on Saturday and Sunday. The ARCA Menards Series concludes its 2025 season on Saturday at Toledo Speedway.

NASCAR National Series – NCS/NXS/NCTS

Toyota drivers look to advance to Round of 8 … With Sunday’s race on the ROVAL marking the Round of 12 cutoff, the five remaining Toyota drivers look to fill the six remaining spots for the next round of the Cup Series Playoffs. Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) drivers Denny Hamlin (fourth), Christopher Bell (fifth) and Chase Briscoe(seventh) are the three Toyota Camry XSEs above the cutline currently – sitting 48, 44 and 21 points to the good, respectively. 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick are 10th and 11th in the standings, 26 and 29 points below the cutline entering this weekend.

Bell, Briscoe look to continue top-10 streaks … After both posted top-five results last weekend in Kansas – finishing third and fourth – Bell and Briscoe head to the Charlotte ROVAL on a run of top-10-or-better finishes. Bell comes to Charlotte with four straight top-10s, dating back to World Wide Technology Raceway to begin September. Briscoe, meanwhile, is riding a five-race top-10 streak, now at five, began with his Southern 500 victory at Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend.

Toyota seeks to continue Xfinity Series win streak … The start of the 2025 Xfinity Series Playoffs has been advantageous for Team Toyota with two consecutive victories from JGR’s Aric Almirola in Bristol and Brandon Jones last weekend in Kansas. These triumphs have also locked the No. 19 team into the owners’ championship Round of 8 and Jones and his No. 20 team into the drivers’ and owners’ Round of 8. Another GR Supra victory this weekend would mark the first for Toyota in the Xfinity Series on the Charlotte ROVAL.

Grala back in No. 24 GR Supra … For the first time since Watkins Glen in August, and for the third time this season, Kaz Grala will pilot the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra for Sam Hunt Racing (SHR). Grala has found success on the Charlotte ROVAL in the past, posting two top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish his last time on the 2.32-mile course with SHR in 2023.

Heim seeks Truck Series record … After his victory two weekends ago in New Hampshire, Corey Heim tied the Truck Series single-season wins record with nine in 2025. Another victory by the Toyota Development Driver would etch himself into series history as he chases his first career title. This weekend could be the race to break the record for Heim, who has won both road courses the Truck Series has run this season in Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen International. Additionally, Heim’s 20 career Truck Series victories have come at 18 different race tracks, which would make a victory in the Truck Series’ debut at the Charlotte ROVAL on Friday 21 wins at 19 circuits.

NASCAR Regional Series – ARCA Menards Series National

Reimer coming off top-five run … Last weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway was the first intermediate ARCA Menards Series race for Taylor Reimer, who drove her Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry to a fifth-place finish – her second top-five and fifth top-10 result in just five career ARCA starts. Reimer will pilot a Venturini Motorsports Camry this weekend at Toledo Speedway in search of another solid day.

Last year’s Roval race was Mosack’s second start with JRM in 2024. The young driver made a splash at his debut in the annual street race in downtown Chicago, starting third and finishing sixth in the Windy City.

Mosack has 11 NXS road-course starts in his career, tallying one top-five and two top-10 finishes.

CLT Wholesale joins Mosack and JRM this weekend on the No. 9 Chevrolet. Connor Zilisch

“The road courses have been really good for the WeatherTech team this year so I’m excited to have one in the playoffs. I’ve been to the Roval before in a Trans Am car, but never in an Xfinity car. Chevrolet Becomes Presenting Sponsor of IROC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 1, 2025) – IROC Holdings LLC and General Motors announced today that Chevrolet is now the presenting sponsor of IROC. This renewed relationship builds on a storied history between the two brands that has seen Chevrolet front and center for countless moments in IROC’s history.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chevrolet as our presenting sponsor for IROC,” said Ray Evernham, Co-Principal of IROC Holdings. “Chevrolet has not only played a key role in my own personal career, but they’ve been a vital part of IROC’s history, too. Rob [Kauffman, co-principal] and I have had a lot of fun bringing the IROC brand back to life, and to now have our friends at Chevrolet and General Motors involved makes it even more exciting.”

“Chevrolet is proud of our long and rich history with IROC, which dates back more than half a century, and honored to be the presenting sponsor,” said Todd Christensen, Director of Chevrolet Motorsports Marketing. “We look forward to seeing the stars and cars back on track in a revitalized IROC.”

The partnership debuted at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, August 13-16, where IROC Presented by Chevrolet was a featured run group at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. An impressive 27 authentic IROC race cars participated in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion’s IROC Unser Family Cup class, with many being original Chevrolet Camaros that were campaigned in IROC competition between 1974-1989. An equally impressive lineup of drivers—including names like Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte, Scott Pruett, Danny Sullivan and Ken Schrader—reunited with the original machines they raced during IROC’s prime making the IROC Unser Family Cup one of the most-anticipated classes of the weekend.

The history between General Motors and IROC dates back to 1974 when 12 identically-prepared Chevrolet Camaros took to the track with motorsports legends like Richard Petty, A.J. Foyt, Emerson Fittipaldi and Graham Hill behind the wheel. While Chevrolet’s Camaro was the designated car for the IROC Series from 1974 until 1989, General Motors returned to IROC once again in 1996 with the Pontiac Firebird, which would be utilized through the final year of series competition in 2006.

“The excitement from fans and drivers around the revival of the IROC brand has been incredible, and Chevrolet’s commitment only reinforces that we’re building something truly special,” said Evernham.

● Welcome Back: The 2025 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series season stretch driver continues this weekend, with Young’s Motorsports proud to welcome back rookie Ben Maier to the team’s lineup to steer the team’s flagship No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST for Friday afternoon’s EcoSave 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™.

The Truck Series returns from its penultimate off-weekend, which coincided with the Kansas Speedway fall event weekend, ready to fire up the stretch run of the season.

Friday’s race at the ROVAL™ kicks off the first of four events in the next five weeks, a sprint that will carry the 25-race tour to its season finale and Championship 4 event at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway on October 31, 2025.

● About Ben: Maier, a rising star in the Motorsports world, has spent years honing his skills in various racing series like Stadium Super Trucks with Robby Gordon, Trans Am, Cars Tour and Travis Pastrana’s NitroCross and now, with the support of Young’s Motorsports, he is ready to take on the competition in the highly competitive Truck Series for the second time in his young career.

His youthful enthusiasm and passion for racing have already garnered attention and fans can expect an exhilarating performance as he takes to the track.

● All Board: For the 22nd of 25 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series races this season, TOP LINER will serve as the primary marketing partner for Friday afternoon’s 67-lap showdown.

● Ben Maier Truck Series Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ Stats: Friday afternoon’s EcoSave 250 will mark Ben Maier’s inaugural NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series track start at the iconic 2.28-mile ROVAL™.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series shifts from the flat, tricky corners of New Hampshire Motor Speedway to uncharted territory this weekend, as the series makes its highly anticipated debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™.

Friday afternoon’s event marks the inaugural NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series race on the 2.28-mile, 17-turn layout that combines the high banks of Charlotte’s oval with its demanding infield road course.

Precision and adaptability will be the name of the game.

Unlike New Hampshire’s rhythm of braking and throttle control on a flat oval, the ROVAL™ requires technical road-course craft, patience through tight sections and the ability to capitalize on restarts.

Teams that manage track position and strategy — including pit calls and potential fuel mileage gambles — are expected to have the upper hand.

Saturday’s showdown opens the Round of 8 in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series Playoffs, raising the stakes with just three races left to determine the Championship 4.

Every stage point will matter as contenders look to build momentum and secure a ticket to Phoenix, while non-Playoff entries such as Young’s Motorsports aim to play spoiler and steal the spotlight just outside the Queen City.

It’s also a triple-header weekend of NASCAR action at Charlotte.

Following Friday afternoon’s Truck Series debut, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will take center stage with the Blue Cross NC 250 — an elimination race in its own Playoff battle on Saturday, October 4.

The weekend culminates on Sunday with the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 for the NASCAR Cup Series, serving as the Round of 12 cutoff race.

A victory at the ROVAL™ would be historic, etching the winner’s name as the first Truck Series driver and team to conquer the hybrid road course.

With 67 laps on tap, strategy and survival will collide in a high-pressure setting that promises drama at every corner.

● Ben Maier Truck Series Career Stats: Entering the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™, Maier is set to make just the second NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series start of his career.

Earlier this season, the Connecticut native debuted at Lime Rock Park, where he turned heads with a 20th-place qualifying effort and showed consistent pace throughout the 100-lap event.

Maier ultimately delivered a respectable 18th-place finish in his inaugural outing, building confidence and experience that he now carries into his first appearance at the ROVAL™.

● Calling the Shots: Guiding Maier as crew chief of the No. 02 TOP LINER Chevrolet Silverado RST is veteran Jason Miller.

On Friday afternoon, Miller will make his 155th NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series start atop the pit box. In his previous 154 races, he has collected one win, eight top-five finishes and 28 top-10 efforts.

This weekend’s 22nd race of the season will mark Miller’s first Truck Series appearance as a crew chief at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™. It also represents his 12th start in that leadership role this year.

While new to the ROVAL in the Truck Series, Miller does bring valuable road course experience from the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

He has called six races as crew chief at Charlotte’s ROVAL™, highlighted by an eighth-place finish during the 2020 rain-soaked Drive for the Cure 250 with road course specialist Jade Buford.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ Stats: This weekend will mark Young’s Motorsports’ first and second NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series track starts at the Concord, N.C.-based track.

While the team has not yet competed at the ROVAL™ in the Truck Series, the team did participate in last year’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, delivering a 28th-place finish after starting 33rd with rookie driver Leland Honeyman Jr in the Drive for the Cure 250 Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series History: Since entering the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series in 2012, the Mooresville, N.C., – based organization has logged 535 starts from 75 drivers, resulting in solid performances that include two victories (Talladega Superspeedway 2019 and 2021), seven top-five finishes and 33 top-10 finishes, with an average starting position of 23.4 and an average finishing position of 22.3.

Ben Maier Pre-Race Quotes:

On the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: “I’m really looking forward to making my debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ on Friday afternoon. It’s a unique track that mixes the oval and road course, and there’s a lot for me to learn, but I’m excited to take on the challenge.

“We had a solid run at Lime Rock earlier this year that gave me confidence, and now I want to build on that with Young’s Motorsports. This team works so hard to bring competitive trucks to the track, and my goal is to represent them well and keep us in the mix all day.”

On Making Second Truck Series Start of 2025: “Having a solid debut at Lime Rock was huge for me. It gave me confidence that I could qualify well, stay competitive, and bring the truck home in one piece.

“That experience is something I can lean on heading into the ROVAL™, because even though it’s a completely different track, it’s still about adapting quickly and running a smart race.

“My focus is to take what I learned at Lime Rock, keep building on it, and give Young’s Motorsports another performance they can be proud of.”

Rodgers is also a graduate of the NASCAR Next initiative, having been a member of the program during the 2018 and 2019 race seasons, respectively.

● Year Two, Full Throttle: In January, Young’s Motorsports announced that NASCAR Xfinity Series veteran Anthony Alfredo would compete full-time for the team in its second year of Xfinity Series competition.

Alfredo is driving the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the entire 33-race schedule, which continues with this Saturday’s Blue Cross NC 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™.

● About Anthony: A popular driver, Alfredo, a native of Ridgefield, Connecticut, joins Young’s Motorsports with an array of Motorsports experience, including starts in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series, respectively.

The 2025 season will mark Alfredo’s fourth full-time Xfinity Series campaign, and he joins the Mooresville, N.C.-based team after spending the 2024 season with Our Motorsports.

The 25-year-old finished 15th in the 2024 Xfinity Series driver standings, highlighted by a Dash 4 Cash victory at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway. He added two more top-five finishes and seven top-10s to his career totals, further strengthening his résumé across 146 Xfinity Series starts.

● All-Aboard!: For the 29th of 33 Xfinity Series races this season, Young’s Motorsports welcomes back The Roth ID Tag™ as the primary marketing partner on the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for the 67-lap race this weekend.

The Roth ID Tag™ Identification System is an information tag that can be affixed to any car seat or product used by an infant, young child, or person under the care of a parent or guardian.

The Roth ID Tag™ partnered with Alfredo and the Young’s Motorsports team earlier this year at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway in March.

● Anthony Alfredo Xfinity Series Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ Stats: Saturday’s Blue Cross NC 250 will mark Alfredo’s fourth career start at the at the iconic 2.28-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™, nestled just outside the Queen City.

Alfredo earned a track-best of 12th after starting 18th in the 2022 edition of the Drive for the Cure 250 for Our Motorsports.

The Xfinity Series veteran driver will look to improve his overall ROVAL™ average finish of 193.

Additionally, Alfredo has one NASCAR Cup Series start at the ROVAL™ with a best effort of 26th after starting 20th in the 2021 Bank of America ROVAL™ 400, driving for Front Row Motorsports.

Twenty-eight races into the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season — and with the regular season now in the rearview mirror, Anthony Alfredo and the Young’s Motorsports No. 42 team still plan to make some noise in the Playoffs.

While they won’t compete for a championship, they still have the chance to contend for victories and shake up the Playoff grid in the final stretch of the year.

This weekend, the series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ for the Blue Cross NC 250, the 28th race of the season and the third and elimination stop in the opening round of the Xfinity Series Playoffs.

The unique 2.28-mile combined road course and oval layout is notorious for producing unpredictable racing, aggressive strategy calls and dramatic late-race moments that often decide who advances — and who sees their championship hopes end.

For Alfredo and the No. 42 Chevrolet team, the approach remains simple: go all out for a strong performance or perhaps contend for a win.

A breakthrough victory at the ROVAL™ would serve as the ultimate payoff for the resilience they’ve shown all season, while also rewriting the Playoff storyline by denying a postseason contender an all-important win and momentum boost.

Saturday afternoon’s race isn’t just another event — it’s a high-stakes Playoff showdown, where contenders fight to keep their title hopes alive and underdogs like Alfredo and Young’s Motorsports have every opportunity to steal the spotlight.

Then on Sunday, the spotlight shifts to the NASCAR Cup Series with the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400, the third and elimination race of the Round of 12.

With just one last chance to secure a ticket to the Round of 8, fans can expect high drama, bold moves, and season-defining moments on Charlotte’s treacherous infield road course and high-speed oval corners.

● Anthony Alfredo Xfinity Series Career Stats: Entering Charlotte, Alfredo has 146 NASCAR Xfinity Series races to his credit, earning a career-best third-place finish twice, most recently at Talladega Superspeedway after starting 11th in the 2024 edition of the Ag-Pro 300 for Our Motorsports.

Since 2020, he has earned one pole, five top-five, and 23 top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 20.2.

● Kansas Speedway | Kansas Lottery 300 Race Recap: The NASCAR Xfinity Series journeyed to Kansas Speedway for their solo stop in the Midwest, often referred to as “the land of Oz.”

After a respectable outing in the most recent Xfinity Series race in the Food City 300 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, the Mooresville, N.C.-based team carried confidence into the weekend, hoping to deliver its second top-10 finish of the season.

Despite their best efforts, the team faced balance issues with their No. 42 Dude Wipes Chevrolet.

Even though Alfredo qualified a solid 22nd, he worked his way inside the top 20 throughout the race and appeared poised for another strong performance with Young’s Motorsports.

However, the team found itself trapped a lap down when the caution flag waved during a round of green-flag pit stops.

From there, despite their determination, Alfredo and the No. 42 team were unable to recover to the lead lap and ultimately settled for a frustrating 25th-place finish at the checkered flag.

With the arrival of the homestretch, Young’s Motorsports will lean on their experience and never-give-up attitude to propel them forward through the remainder of the season.

This closing stretch features a road course, an intermediate, a superspeedway and two short tracks to close out the year.

● Calling the Shots: Guiding Alfredo as crew chief of the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro is longtime crew chief Andrew Abbott.

On Saturday afternoon, he will be crew chief in his 158th NASCAR Xfinity Series race. In his previous 157 races, he has four top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

The season’s 29th race will be his fifth tango at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™ as crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

In his track debut, he led Jeremy Clements to an impressive 11th-place finish after starting eighth in 2019.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: This weekend will mark Young’s Motorsports’ second appearance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the Concord, N.C.-based race track.

Last October, rookie driver Leland Honeyman Jr. started in the 33rd position but was collected in a late-race accident that relegated the team to a 28th-place finish, seven laps short of the full distance in the Drive for the Cure 250 Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

On tracks featuring a road course layout, the family-owned organization has logged nine Xfinity Series starts, with an average result of 24.0.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series History: Since entering the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, the family-owned organization has logged 61 starts and maintains an average starting position of 25.5 and an average finish of 23.8.

Anthony Alfredo Pre-Race Quotes:

On the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: “The ROVAL™ is a really fun circuit to race on. It presents quite a few challenges, but I’ve always seemed to be competitive there and look forward to capitalizing on that this weekend.”

On Biggest Challenges at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: “The ROVAL™ doesn’t have very much runoff and is surrounded by walls and most places, so you have to be very precise and can’t afford to go off track, unlike a lot of other road courses.”

On Comparing the ROVAL™ to a Street Course: “Honestly, the ROVAL is a lot like a street course because of the narrow racing surface and lack of runoff.”

On the Keys to Success at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: “Qualifying well to get track position early and put ourselves in position for stage points and ultimately the end of the race will be important.”

On Goals for the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™: “My goal is to finish inside the top 10 this weekend. I’ve been close on many road courses before and I feel good about my chances this weekend.”

On Goals for the Remainder of 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season: “We need to continue performing at a high level and finishing well throughout the rest of the season.

“Our team has fought a lot of adversity this year, but we need to remain focused on running our own race each week and controlling what we can control through the end of the season.

“Our main goal for the final few weeks of racing should be to execute at a high level and control what is in our control. That’s really all we can do and hopefully that allows us to finish the year on a high note.

“I have faith we can make the top 20 in points, even though it seems like a far reach.”

On the Most Recent NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Kansas Speedway: “I was pleased with our performance at Kansas Speedway this past weekend, but unfortunately, an untimely caution during the green flag pit cycle ruined what was shaping up to be a great finish.”
