POWEREDGE NAMED PRESENTING SPONSOR OF DENSO NHRA SONOMA NATIONALS AT SONOMA RACEWAY

Brown has five Top Fuel wins at the fan-favorite facility, matching Doug Kalitta for the most in Top Fuel history. John Force’s eight Sonoma victories leads all Funny Car drivers, while reigning Pro Stock world champ Greg Anderson has a class-best six victories at Sonoma Raceway.

Ford Cup Teams Gearing Up For First International Points Race in Mexico City

For the first time in NASCAR history, the Cup Series will be competing in an international points race as Mexico City plays host this weekend at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Before that, however, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will be in action as it returns to the course for the fifth time after conducting events at the facility from 2005-08.

INAUGURAL RACE SUCCESS

Ford has had its share of success in inaugural races recently, especially defending series champion Joey Logano. The three-time titleholder captured the first NASCAR Cup Series dirt race in 50 years when he won the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2021. He followed that up one year later with victories in the first Clash at the Coliseum inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Enjoy Illinois 300 at Worldwide Technology Raceway. Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney is also part of the inaugural win club after taking the first race on the Charlotte Roval in 2018.

FORD ROAD COURSE WINS IN THE MODERN ERA (1972-Present)

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will be the 10th road course the NASCAR Cup Series has competed on in the modern era, joining Riverside International Raceway (1958-88), Watkins Glen International (1957-Present), Sonoma Raceway (1989-Present), Charlotte Motor Speedway (2018-Present), Daytona International Speedway (2020-2021), Road America (2021-2022), Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2021-23), Circuit of The Americas (2021-Present) and the Chicago Street Race (2023-Present). Ford has produced a total of 20 combined wins at those facilities from 1972-Present. Mark Martin leads the way with four victories, including three straight years at Watkins Glen, while Ricky Rudd, Marcos Ambrose and Geoffrey Bodine have two each.

FORD DRIVING 4 A DIFFERENCE STANDINGS

Two more races remain in the Ford Driving 4 A Difference presented by the Gene Haas Foundation with Ford’s five NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers hoping to win as much as $20,000 for their charity of choice. The points each driver earns in races at Charlotte, Nashville, Mexico City, and Pocono will be added together with the winner being the one with the highest total. If a driver wins one of those events, their point total for that race is doubled.

BRAD KESELOWSKI: “It is an interesting event. There are all kinds of different sentiments; positive, negative. I think it is good for the Cup Series in general to see the schedule variability that has really been driven over the last half-dozen years or so. An international race just fitting the bill for everything else we have been doing. I am just really curious to see the reception of our fans. I think the reception from our partners has been pretty strong which is always fun and great for the teams. But I am really curious about the reception from our fans both here and in Mexico. Will they turn out the way we think they will turn out? It is one of those things that when it is all said and done, I think I will be able to answer a lot better than I can now. We will just have to see how it all plays out.”

RYAN PREECE: “I think there are a lot of things that we’re all thinking about, but as a race car driver one of them is gonna be staying hydrated. How the elevation is going to affect us as far as being in the race car and breathing enough, so I’m not entirely sure but I am excited to go there because after talking with Daniel (Suarez), he obviously grew up over there and had a lot of great things to say. I’m looking at it as a glass half full. I’ve never been out of the country, so this is gonna be my first experience and I’m really hoping it’s a great one.”

CHRIS BUESCHER: “As drivers, we’ve gotten spoiled a little bit too much and get to kind of come and go as we please. If it gets within an hour or hour-and-a-half of practice you show up, but I think this is gonna be different. You’re just gonna try and maximize your time spent at the facility, if not on track studying what is on track and if not with your group trying to figure out what it is you need to be good there, or to be better if we’ve been on track yet. It’s definitely gonna be a different race weekend from all of those standpoints. I’m not one of the few drivers that have been down there to race in year’s past. I’ve heard stories from people on how it goes and the logistics of it and I’m getting ready to find out first hand.”

JOSH BERRY: “It is definitely a pretty cool layout. It is going to be interesting. I think there are some passing zones. There’s definitely going to be issues with track limits in the esses, right? It’s just tight. You can just tell. To me, it is probably just a little bit worse than COTA. It doesn’t feel like there is going to be grass on both sides so it is just a little bit different. Overall, I think it should probably be a good race. That is what we want to see.”

KESELOWSKI IN MEXICO

The only active Ford driver who raced in Mexico City during NASCAR’s four-year Xfinity Series run is Brad Keselowski. The Michigan native made his ninth career series start when the circuit ran at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 2007, but he never got a chance to compete as an engine issue on the opening lap ended his day. The results were better one year later when he finished eighth while driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

FROM DRIVER TO PRESIDENT

The one person who has had the most experience driving the course at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is now making a lot of key decisions as president of Wood Brothers Racing. Jon Wood made 85 career starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2002-07 with three of those races taking place in Mexico City. Wood, who drove Tad Geschickter’s Ford for three seasons, had his best finish in 2007 (10th). Prior to that, he was 16th in the inaugural event in 2005 and 27th the following year.

FOUR FORDS IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION

There are still 12 races remaining in the NASCAR Xfinity Series regular season and four Ford drivers currently find themselves in the 12-driver field. Sam Mayer is the highest-ranked Mustang Dark Horse driver as he sits third in the overall point standings. Haas Factory Team teammate Sheldon Creed is sixth while Ryan Sieg is 10th and Harrison Burton 11th. Even though he’s 11th in the standings, Burton is squarely on the bubble and holds the final berth because Sammy Smith, who is below him in points, has one win. The field will be set after September’s race at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Nearly 60 Mustangs will take to the track this weekend around the world with Ford Performance. Two Mustang GT3’s are set to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second year in a row, with 35+ Mustang Dark Horse R’s sharing the track for two sprint races of Mustang Challenge. Corvette Z06 GT3.R program hopes to extend global success at Le Mans

LE MANS, France (June 10, 2025) – With the racing world’s attention this week turning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R program has another opportunity to add to its list of successes in global motorsport.

In its second year of competition, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R already has raced to victory six times and recorded at least one podium finish in each of the six different championships in which customer teams are competing.

“Our program goal in 2025 was to continue the development and fine-tuning of the Corvette in order to provide our teams with a fast and reliable car that would enable them to compete for race wins and championships,” said Mark Stielow, Director, GM Motorsports Competition Programs. “It’s gratifying for us all to see so far that we are hitting that metric across all our full-time series on different continents.”

MADISON, Ill. (June 9, 2025) – The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline at World Wide Technology Raceway will showcase the NTT INDYCAR SERIES during Sunday night prime-time television on FOX on Father’s Day.

FOX and INDYCAR announced the shift from a Sunday afternoon time slot last month as the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 becomes the first-ever scheduled primetime NTT INDYCAR SERIES race to be held on a Sunday night. It also marks the first scheduled night race at World Wide Technology Raceway since 2019.

The FOX race broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. CT with the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 scheduled for a 7:20 p.m. green flag start.

The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 also will be the first oval race since Alex Palou won the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 25. It is the second of six oval events on the 17-race schedule.

The two-day show opens Saturday with NTT INDYCAR SERIES practice sessions and pole qualifying to set the field. The series begins with a one-hour practice at 10:30 a.m. and follows with qualifying at 2 p.m. The on-track activities close out with a 30-minute practice at 4:45 p.m. and a final one-hour session at 5:30 p.m.

Here are “Five Things To Watch” at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline:

1- Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward is second in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship standings, but he is still chasing his first win of the season.
O’Ward may not have a victory at World Wide Technology Raceway in six career starts, but he has been outstanding with the exception of last season when a mechanical issue relegated him to a 26th-place finish.

Prior to that, he had reeled off five consecutive top-four finishes, including four visits to the podium. Those podium appearances include three runner-up performances: finishing second to Josef Newgarden in the second race of the 2020 doubleheader and again in ‘21, and then to Scott Dixon in ‘23.

Over O’Ward’s career in the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, he has started among the top five four times and never outside the top eight. He has led in five of the races for a total of 159 laps, including a best of 94 in his first start at WWT Raceway during the 2020 doubleheader.

O’Ward is also coming off a strong oval finish at the Indianapolis 500, where he qualified on the front row (third) and finished third.

2- Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin has developed quite an affinity for this 1.25-mile track since arriving to the series in 2021 from New Zealand with no oval experience.

He has recorded a top-five finish in each of his four visits, with his best overall performance coming in last season’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500. McLaughlin earned the pole position and led 67 laps en route to a runner-up finish.

Previously, he was fourth in his WWT Raceway debut in 2021, landed a podium with a third-place finish in ’22 and followed with a fifth in ’23. He has compiled an impressive 3.5 finishing average.

McLaughlin also has been strong on the qualifying side as well with the exception of starting 11th in 2021. He qualified fourth the next season and then qualified on the pole the last two seasons. In 2024, he actually started 10th due to an engine change penalty of grid positions.

3- Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden has been mired in a first-half slump, but a return to World Wide Technology Raceway could ignite a strong second half.

Newgarden arrives as the defending race winner and the most dominant driver of World Wide Technology Raceway since the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returned in 2017. He won that inaugural race and then captured four of the last five dating to the second race of the 2020 doubleheader. He has led 599 career laps, including 17 or more laps in seven of his nine starts.

The two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion is attempting to rebound from a start that finds him 12th in the championship, 185 back of leader Alex Palou. After finishing third in the season opener at St. Petersburg, Newgarden has only been able to manage a top finish of ninth (Detroit) and has not led a lap during that six-race span.

4- Three-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing brilliantly took care of the slight imperfection on his illustrious resume by securing his first career oval victory in the Indianapolis 500 over Memorial Day weekend.

Given the strides he has made in his last three visits to WWT Raceway, Palou could suddenly be eyeing back-to-back oval victories. He has improved his finishing position each time, finishing ninth in 2022, seventh in ’24 and fourth last season. Interestingly, he has yet to lead a lap at WWT Raceway in six career starts, but that could come to an end very soon as well.

5- World Wide Technology Raceway and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES are hopeful of replicating last season’s thrilling, record-breaking action with a prime-time Sunday night network audience tuning in to FOX.

The 2024 edition of the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 established track records with 21 lead changes and 676 passes by the field in the 260-lap event. The 21 lead changes among 11 drivers easily topped the previous-best mark of 13 (2019 and ’22). Five of the 11 drivers led double-digit laps.

Of the total passes, 254 were for position with 115 coming inside the top 10 and 44 inside the top five.

NATAAS SCORES FIRST ROUND WIN, BUILDS CONFIDENCE IN FUNNY CAR DEBUT AT BRISTOL

BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 8, 2025) — Rookie Funny Car driver Julie Nataas made quite the first impression this weekend at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, advancing to the second round of eliminations and earning her first professional round win in her Airmine Toyota GR Supra Funny Car.

Nataas, a former Top Alcohol Dragster world champion, became the 11th woman in NHRA history to qualify for a Funny Car field — an achievement made even sweeter by turning on her first win light against John Force Racing’s Jack Beckman.

“It wasn’t a perfect weekend by any means, but I wanted to come here and be competitive — get down the track, go rounds, and learn,” said Nataas. “Getting that first round win in my first race was huge for us, and I know there’s more to come.”

After a tricky opening pass on Friday, where the Airmine Toyota hazed the tires early against former teammate Hunter Green, the team rebounded quickly in session two. Nataas laid down a clean 4.03-second run at 317 mph alongside Chad Green — her first full pull in competition trim and a confidence boost heading into Saturday.

Saturday, she remained consistent with another 4.04-second pass at 314 mph to start the day alongside Ron Capps. The final qualifying session delivered a bit of history as Nataas and Alexis DeJoria staged for the first side-by-side all-female Funny Car run since 2018. Both cars struggled for traction, cementing Nataas’ round-one match up with Beckman.

Sunday brought another milestone as Nataas scored her first professional round win in NHRA Funny Car competition, defeating veteran Jack Beckman. Beckman, who wins an impressive 77% of first-round matchups when starting from the top half of the field, was out first but lost traction early. Nataas kept her car straight down the groove with a 4.053-second pass, lighting her first funny car win bulb.

In round two, Nataas faced Daniel Wilkerson, but an early tire smoker ended her day. “The right lane is very challenging to tune for. Del and the team gave it all they could in those conditions. She said, “I learned a lot this weekend, and I know the team did too. Every lap we make, we get better.”

While still in the lower .100s, Nataas’s reaction times were consistent throughout the weekend — leaving the rookie confident that with more laps, her well-known starting line prowess will soon translate fully to the Funny Car seat.

The weekend also brought special recognition for Nataas’s crew chief and team owner Del Worsham, who was named the 2025 Legend of Thunder Valley by Bristol Dragway. Worsham — who has seen success as both a driver and tuner at Bristol — was joined by friends and family, bringing an extra layer of excitement and energy to the pit.

“To me, Del and Connie are racing royalty. I am so lucky to have them alongside me at the start of this journey as mentors, coaches, and partners. When Del mentioned he was getting this recognition I knew it was the perfect race for us to start with” said Nataas.

The team also announced that Airmine will continue its support, backing Nataas’s entry at the upcoming NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, June 27–29.

“This was the first step for us,” Nataas said. “Now I want to keep improving — both in the car and on the sponsorship hunt. The goal is to come out even stronger in Norwalk with hopes of attracting sponsors that will get our GR Supra on track more often this season.
