20-Year Old Californian and Second-Year Xfinity Series Regular To Pilot No. 62 C4 Energy Chevrolet in Upcoming Cup Series Outings

(April 16, 2025) – Beard Motorsports has announced the addition of a pair of NASCAR Cup Series races on its 2025 schedule that will feature 20-year-old NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Jesse Love behind the wheel of its No. 62 Chevrolet for the first time – the May 4 Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, and the iconic Brickyard 400 July 27 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The two races mark the family owned team’s first appearances at Texas and Indianapolis since its Cup Series debut in 2017 under the leadership of the late Mark Beard Sr., and which continues under the ownership of Linda Beard, with her children Amie Beard-Deja and Mark Beard Jr., overseeing daily operations.

Among the Beard Chevrolet’s 30 Cup Series outings to date, 13 have come at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and 13 at its sister track, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, with one apiece at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Roval, the Daytona road course, and the team’s home track, Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The week prior to next month’s Würth 400 at Texas, the No. 62 Beard Chevrolet will compete in the April 27 Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega with driver Anthony Alfredo and primary sponsor Fortify Building Solutions.

Love, a native of Menlo Park, California, is in the midst of his second Xfinity Series season as fulltime driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing (RCR). He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut just three weeks prior to the Texas race when he strapped into RCR’s No. 33 C4 Ultimate Energy Chevrolet for the April 13 Food City 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. He’s a two-time winner and six-time pole qualifier during his young Xfinity Series career, the wins coming last April at Talladega and this year’s season opener at Daytona. He’s also logged one Xfinity Series start each on the 1.5-mile Texas oval, and the 2.5-mile Indianapolis oval, both coming last year.

“We are very excited to be able to expand our racing program and visit tracks that our new to us,” said Beard-Deja, executive vice president of Beard Motorsports. “When my dad started this program we wanted to focus on the superspeedways. Our plan was to make that our niche and to do it well and we feel like we have been able to do that very thing. During the last couple of seasons we had partners that were interested in races outside of those that take place at Daytona and Talladega and that presented a different challenge and we enjoyed it.

“We have been watching Jesse Love in his racing endeavors and have certainly been impressed with what he has been doing so it was a no-brainer for us to take on the challenge of preparing cars for and competing in the races that will take place this season at Texas and Indianapolis.”

In the April 2024 Xfinity Series race at Texas, Love qualified on the pole and finished ninth in his RCR Chevrolet, his fifth of 18 top-10s over the season’s 33 events. He qualified 15th and finished 13th in the July 2024 Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis. Prior to his arrival at RCR, Love was a 12-time winner in 48 career starts in the ARCA Menards Series from 2020 through 2023.

The 2025 JEGS SPEEDweek doubleheader event will head to its new home at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Ga., as the JEGS SPORTSnationals takes place July 9-10. It is the lead-in to the adrenaline-packed JEGS SPEEDweek that also runs July 11-12 and features a Lucas Oil competition doubleheader that spans four action-packed days.

· Next weekend will mark the 112th running of a NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

· A total of 48 different drivers have won the pole at Talladega in the Cup Series, six are active this season – Christopher Bell (two), Chase Elliott (two), Michael McDowell (two), Austin Dillon (one), Denny Hamlin (one) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (one).

· Michael McDowell swept the two Cup Series poles at Talladega last season.

· Rockingham is the last race of the Triple Truck Challenge in 2025.

Historic & Significant Events at Rockingham Speedway:

· Rockingham Speedway, located in Richmond County, North Carolina has a rich history in American Motorsports.

· The track opened under the control of attorney Elsie Webb on Halloween, October 31, 1965 as a 1-mile, flat D-shaped oval and was named North Carolina Motor Speedway.

· The first NASCAR Cup Series race held at Rockingham Speedway was on October 31, 1965, and the race had 43 entrants and Curtis Turner, driving the No. 41 Wood Brothers Racing Ford, won the race by 11-seconds over second-place Cale Yarborough. Turner led 239 laps of 500-lap race.

· In 1969, the track was reconfigured to add banking in the turns. Turns 1 and 2 have 22 degrees of banking and Turns 3 and 4 have 25 degrees of banking.

· Over the years Rockingham Speedway has undergone several name changes and ownership transitions.

· After the passing of Webb in 1972, car owner L.G Dewitt took over operating the facility.

· A 1.5-mile (2.4 km) road course layout consisting of an infield road course combined with parts of the oval was added to the facility in 1977.

· In 1996 it was renamed North Carolina Speedway and has been known as Rockingham Speedway since October 2007.

· In 1997, Roger Penske purchased Rockingham Speedway.

Rockingham – NASCAR Weekend Schedule and Highlights

The NASCAR Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and the ARCA Menards Series East will compete at Rockingham Speedway this weekend.

Grandstand tickets for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series East races at Rockingham have sold out. Tickets are currently available for Friday’s Craftsman Truck Series race.

There are 40 cars on the Xfinity Series entry list, but only 38 open spots that will be determined during Saturday’s qualifying session. Former Cup Series driver Kasey Kahne will attempt to qualify in the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. And while he has no concrete plans to run any additional races in the series, he has not ruled it out.

“This has been a lot of fun to prepare and work on this one particular race,” Kahne said. “I think a lot of that goes to RCR, the 33 team, Andy Street and that whole group. The timing of it has been perfect. I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I want to put together the best effort that we possibly can and look at it after that and decide if there’s another one that we would like to do or something like that,” he continued. “Putting it all into Rockingham right now. The situation that I’m in is very good. Really enjoying the whole process.”

Katherine Legge will also make a qualifying attempt in the No. 32 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet.

The NASCAR Cup Series has a week off, but returns to competition on April 10th at Talladega Superspeedway, along with the Xfinity Series, as the Craftsman Truck Series enjoys a week off from competition

Sprint Car Racer McKenna Haase is Going Pavement Late Model Racing in California

DALLAS (April 16, 2025) – McKenna Haase has always blazed her own trail en route to becoming a professional sprint car racer. But after more than a decade of traversing a dirt-covered career path, the 28-year-old has decided to pave that path with asphalt. Haase is making a career change from 900-horsepower sprint cars to pavement-pounding late model stock cars.

It is a vastly different discipline in a vastly different environment, and Haase is going all in. Just as the allure of westward expansion in the 19th century was rooted in opportunity, ambition and reinvention, Haase is of the same mindset here in the 21st century. She isn’t going late model racing at her hometown track. Instead, the Iowa native is heading west to compete in the 602 Late Model division of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California, with backing from Interstate Batteries. Her first race is this Saturday.

“I got connected with Charlie Wilson, who is based out in California,” Haase said. “Charlie has a long and extensive background in asphalt racing. He’s got a reputation for having good equipment that’s fast, but also for being a really good person who is genuine, fair and ethical, and those are all values that matter to me. There’s mutual respect and we just clicked.”

Wilson is a veteran crew chief who once turned wrenches for Harvick, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Ron Hornaday Jr., and Steve Park, among others, in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, before transitioning to late model team ownership where he focuses on driver development.

“Charlie’s the main reason to answer the, ‘Why California?’ question,” Haase said. “Charlie was willing to work with me and help make this happen. I don’t have endless funding to go race. I need to maximize this opportunity. Charlie understands that.”

Racing is a relationship business, and just as Haase has developed a good rapport with her new car owner, Haase has fostered a strong partnership with Interstate Batteries. The leading replacement battery brand in the United States continues its support of Haase after signing on last year as a primary partner of her 410 winged sprint car.

“Having the support of Interstate Batteries has been incredible. I’m super thankful for their flexibility and their loyalty,” Haase said. “Last year wasn’t as successful of a season as we were all hoping for – just had a lot of unfortunate events that were outside of our control. But Interstate Batteries was really good at pivoting when needed and being supportive, and I’m very thankful for that. And now they’re on board with this stock car opportunity. It wouldn’t be possible without them.”

Haase endured two massive, highlight-reel accidents in 2024. The first was in May at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, when Haase cart-wheeled through turns three and four of the 3/8-mile dirt oval. She emerged unscathed, but the same could not be said three months later when Haase endured an even heavier crash on the first lap of the first heat on Friday night of the Knoxville Nationals at famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. Haase flipped into the turn one wall at the ultra-fast, half-mile dirt oval, spun high in the air and then landed hard on the clay surface.

“I had a collapsed lung and was pretty bruised up” said Haase, recounting the accident that ended her season. “I had a decent amount of whiplash too, lots of strains in my neck and back muscles. I didn’t have any kind of head injury, which I’m thankful for, because when I flipped into the wall, something metal went through the top of my carbon-fiber helmet. If I had been two inches taller, things would’ve been a lot worse. The lung injury was the main, lasting injury.

“It’s kind of wild because I hadn’t really crashed hard in a sprint car in, like, five seasons. So it’d been a long time since we’d tore up equipment, and it was really frustrating to have that happen twice in one year.

“After the Knoxville crash in August, I was laying in the hospital bed thinking ‘OK, we’ll be fine in a few weeks and we’ll make it to Eldora.’ Apparently, my math was a little off because the doctor told me that I couldn’t even fly for six weeks, never mind race. But for some reason, I thought I could be back in a racecar in four (weeks). I don’t know why I thought that, but it took me a minute to realize I wasn’t going to be racing any sprint cars for the rest of the season.”

As Haase recovered, she was also in the midst of wedding planning. She married NFL player Zavier Scott on March 17 in Indianapolis.

“We got engaged in July and then a few weeks later I went to Knoxville and he went to training camp with the Indianapolis Colts,” Haase said. “Zavier was actually watching the race and saw my wreck as it happened. It was a hectic time but, thankfully, my parents were able to keep him up to date on my condition. He stayed at camp and I stayed at my parents’ house in Des Moines to heal.

“I actually went wedding dress shopping in Des Moines while I was still healing. I probably wasn’t well enough to do that. I still wasn’t feeling very good. I remember the dresses were pretty painful to wear, and I couldn’t even turn my head left or right to look in the different mirrors, but it was still a really cool experience because I never thought I’d be married, anyway. And then to go from a hospital gown to a wedding gown, it just made me all the more grateful knowing that you don’t take life for granted.

“Zavier went to the Minnesota Vikings after training camp with the Colts, which was nice because it’s closer to my family in Des Moines, and then we got married in March. It was an incredible wedding and a super cool experience. Like I said, it was never something I thought I’d do, and planning the wedding was more of a gift than an expectation, and it was pretty awesome.”

Throughout recovery and planning for her wedding, Haase continued to pursue racing.

“I’ve always wanted to race stock cars and, you know, I’m not getting any younger. I just wanted to give it a chance,” Haase said. “I’m not saying that I’m going to try and be a Cup driver, but I’ve always loved NASCAR. I want to be successful at it and I’m coming at it from a humble approach. The door was open for this opportunity with Charlie Wilson and Interstate Batteries, so why not take it?”

Saturday’s race at Kern Raceway will be the first of six races for Haase in the No. 55 Interstate Batteries 602 Late Model for Charlie Wilson Motorsports.

“I expect it to be a challenge because it is so new,” Haase said. “I don’t 100 percent know what to expect, but being a racecar driver, I still have high expectations. But to get to where I eventually want to be this year –winning – I’ve got to be consistent, keep things clean, and just get laps in, get experience.”

Tackling this new racing discipline is a full-circle moment for Haase.

“As silly as this might sound, this actually reminds me of my first season ever, when I started out in Outlaw carts when I was 13,” Haase said. “I can remember, even though it was an entry-level Outlaw cart, I was still taking a risk. It was a big deal for me at the time, and I had to overcome a lot of challenges just trying to figure things out. That’s kind of how I feel now, especially coming off a tough season in sprint cars. I’ve had to really refocus and tell myself, ‘OK, we can’t go back to last season, a lot of that was outside of your control, you’ve got to focus on the here and now.’

“In sprint car racing, there’s not a lot of track time. You show up, you get some hot laps, you qualify, you’re in a heat race, and then you run the race. I’ve had to learn as quickly as I can, and that’s just been the nature of my career.

“I know I’ll be up against drivers with a lot more laps, but it’s OK because I’m used to having to figure it out, so that’s what we’ll do.”

Kaulig Racing Drivers Reminisce about Rockingham Memories:

When the ARCA Menards Series raced at Rockingham Speedway in 2010, Kaulig Racing drivers Ty Dillon and Josh Williams were in the field.

Williams, a 17-year-old rookie making the fifth start of his AMS career, qualified 17th out of 43 entries for his family team, eventually finishing the day in 24th.

Dillon took the checkered flag, winning his second-career AMS race in his third-ever start. As NASCAR returns to “The Rock” for the first time since the 2013 Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) season, he has fond memories of winning in his first of three trips to the one-mile track in NASCAR-based competition.

“Being able to win there in the ARCA Series was such an awesome memory for me,” Dillon said. “It’s a place that, obviously being from North Carolina, means a lot to me, and it means a lot to the sport, too. The fact that we’re going back and they are revitalizing ‘The Rock,’ it’s so cool and I’m glad that I have a little bit of its history. I’ll be watching this Easter weekend and cheering on our Kaulig Racing teammates.”

Kaulig Racing’s Rockingham roots don’t stop outside of the car; Trent Owens, crew chief of the No. 16 Camaro ZL1 driven by AJ Allmendinger in the NASCAR Cup Series, earned a win at the track in the 2013 NCTS race at the track with Kyle Larson. Coincidentally, Larson would eventually pilot a Kaulig Racing Chevy to victory lane 10 years later at Darlington Raceway.
