SONOMA, California (March 26, 2025) – TPC Racing and the Driven Artists Racing Team (DART Car) debut the No. 44 DART Car/TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4 this weekend at Sonoma Raceway with team co-drivers Zoë Barry and Aurora Straus in the Am class of the SRO Pirelli GT4 America series.
The debuting DART Car project is a female-led, mission-driven motorsports program with the purpose of elevating the achievements of women in the traditionally male-dominated fields of motorsports and fine art.
DART Car launches this weekend with an inaugural commission by acclaimed contemporary artist Mickalene Thomas, who has created a custom livery for the team’s McLaren as well as one-of-a-kind driving suits and hand-painted helmets for Straus and Barry, who is making her professional racing debut this season.
Both the DART Car McLaren and accompanying helmets and driver suits by Thomas will be auctioned later in the season to raise funds for the next aspiring artist and driving duo to continue the team’s mission in a planned rotation to bolster the number of under-represented artists and drivers in both motorsports and fine arts.
DART Car has partnered in its initial program with race and championship winning sports car racing team TPC Racing. Starting last in the 44-car field after early mechanical issues, Straus and her co-drivers charged to a sixth-place finish at the checkered flag.
Pirelli GT4 America teams have two days of testing Wednesday and Thursday at Sonoma to start the race weekend. Official competition begins with Friday practice with qualifying Saturday morning setting the stage for the first of two 60-minute sprint races that afternoon at 5 p.m. PDT. Sunday’s final race is set to go green at 11:35 a.m. PDT.

Toyota hits 500th Truck Series appearance … Friday night at Martinsville Speedway marks the 500th Truck Series race for Toyota in its series tenure. Now in its 22nd Truck Series season, Toyota has 236 wins, the first by Travis Kvapil at Michigan in 2004, and 179 pole positions to-date, along with nine driver’s championships and 13 manufacturer’s championships. This weekend specifically, Toyota also goes for its 19th Truck Series victory at Martinsville.
Camry XSE drivers remain near top of the points … After six races into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, six Toyota Camry XSE drivers find themselves inside the top-20 of the series points standings. Tyler Reddick leads the group in fourth position, with Christopher Bell in fifth on the strength of three victories this season. The Florida native, who was the 2013 PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge winner, has made multiple starts across the ARCA Menards Series and has one previous start in the Truck Series in 2016. He recently ran the ARCA Menards Series race at Phoenix Raceway earlier this month with Venturini Motorsports, finishing in eighth.
Heim leads Truck Series points … With his third top-five finish in the first four races of the 2025 Truck Series season, including two race wins at Daytona and Las Vegas, Corey Heim leads the series points standings heading to Martinsville Speedway this weekend. The Toyota Development Driver currently holds an eight-point advantage over second position. Heim is joined inside the top-five of the points by Toyota teammate, Stewart Friesen, who collected points in both stages last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway and sits in the fifth spot of the standings.

Toyota seeks to continue winning ways … After Shawn Langdon’s victory in Phoenix last weekend, Toyota looks for its fourth consecutive NHRA Top Fuel victory. Antron Brown’s wins at Pomona last November to end 2024 and at Gainesville Raceway to begin 2025, are now joined by Langdon’s Phoenix triumph. Toyota also seeks to continue its hold on the category at In-N-out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, coming into the weekend going for five straight victories at the California track after season sweeps the last two years – with Justin Ashley and Doug Kalitta in 2023; and Ashley and Brown in 2024.
Postponed Top Fuel callout to commence this weekend … After a rainout in Gainesville a few weeks ago, the NHRA All-Star Top Fuel callout will take place this weekend in Pomona. The Toyota Top Fuel Dragsters taking part in the event are Brown, Ashley, Langdon, Kalitta and Steve Torrence. The callout, where competing drivers call out foes they’d like to race, offers a chance to earn additional prize money during the race weekend. Brown captured the challenge win in 2024.

Third GR Cup season begins … After two stellar opening seasons, the Toyota GAZOO Racing North America’s GR Cup is back for season three, beginning at Sonoma Raceway with two races on the schedule this weekend. Of the 31 entries for this weekend’s event, includes Toyota Development Driver Westin Workman who makes his move to BSI Racing this season. The 2024 Toyota GR Cup Rookie of the Year is eager to transform his multiple podiums from a season ago into victories.

The fan-favorite Porsche 911 GT3 R will return to the GTD class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, competing in the thrilling April 11-12 street race. Fresh off his Twelve Hours of Sebring victory, Rexy will be driven by Porsche driver Laurens Vanthoor and rising talent Jonny Edgar.
“Long Beach is a very special event, and it’s unfortunate that it’s not on the GTD PRO calendar,” said Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette. “A lot of Rexy & AO Fans expressed their desire to see Rexy racing around the famous streets, and ‘Life Found a Way!’ With our full-season drivers off at a GT World Challenge race, we’ve been able to draft in some fantastic guys to fill their shoes in Laurens and Jonny. Originally slated to race next at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the site of AO Racing and Rexy’s first victory in 2024, the team couldn’t resist adding Long Beach to its 2025 calendar. First run in 1975, the Grand Prix of Long Beach is North America’s longest-running major street race, and for AO Racing, a can’t-miss event. To compete in the GTD class, the team adjusted its driver lineup, enlisting Porsche ace Laurens Vanthoor as the PRO driver and pairing him with Jonny Edgar as the AM, who has been piloting AO’s Spike the Dragon LMP2 entry.
“I’m really looking forward to driving the famous Rexy car,” said Vanthoor. “The Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of my favorite events on the IMSA calendar. It’s always a great atmosphere and the whole event just feels special. I know some of the AO Racing guys from the Porsche RSR program, and I can’t wait to get to know the rest of the team. Hopefully, we have a strong weekend.”
For Edgar, Long Beach marks his first official race in the Porsche 911 GT3 R, though the young Brit has already completed private testing in preparation for the event.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at Long Beach with Rexy,” said Edgar. “I’m really excited to race a Porsche for the first time and for my first time at Long Beach. It’s a very exciting event, and I think it’d be really cool to share the car with Laurens as well. I think we have a really good chance at winning the race.”
The excitement begins before the race even starts, with Rexy making an early appearance at Thunder Thursday, Long Beach’s official kick-off party. Held at the Pike Outlets in downtown Long Beach, this free event (April 10, 6:30–10:00 PM) features live music, race car displays, food vendors, autograph sessions, and pit stop demonstrations. And, if the rumors are true, there may even be a certain inflatable dinosaur making a guest appearance. The Grand Prix of Long Beach will be the first sprint race of the season, running for 100 minutes starting on Saturday, April 12, at 2:05 PM PT. SONOMA, Calif. (March 26, 2025) – Flying Lizard Motorsports is set to kick off an exciting 2025 racing season this weekend at Sonoma Raceway, fielding entries in both the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and the new McLaren Trophy America series. The team returns to its former home track, Sonoma Raceway, with a packed lineup of drivers, cars, and championship ambitions.
“We are ready for the start of this season and have been busy in the off-season preparing with both our GT3 program and the new Mclaren Trophy program,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “Last year was a building year for Elias and Andy in GT3. We have the new EVO GT3 BMW and have been hard at work. There are a lot of good teams with good driver combinations, and we can’t wait to get on track for the first official test. For McLaren Trophy America, this series is new to the US and has a lot of potential. We have two new drivers teaming up with two young pros and we see much potential for success this year.”
Returning for their fourth season with the Lizards, Elias Sabo and Andy Lee will once again team up in the No. 8 5.11 Tactical BMW M4 GT3 in GT World Challenge America. The experienced pairing will continue their pursuit of Pro-Am class success, having made the step to GT3 competition last year. Building on valuable experience gained in 2024, the duo enters the new season ready to take on a competitive field of multi-class GT racing across North America’s most iconic circuits. The GT World Challenge series will again consist of Sabo and Lee sharing the BMW in a pair of 90-minute races against other GT3 racing machinery. Sabo will also contest in the GT America series solo, racing the car in a pair of 40-minute races against GT2 and GT4 machinery. These races will air live on the GT World YouTube channel.
In addition to its GTWC program, Flying Lizard is expanding its presence in SRO America with a two-car entry in the inaugural season of the McLaren Trophy America series. The team will campaign a pair of Artura Trophy Evos in the PRO/AM class: George Lawrence III and 2023 TC America champion Spencer Bucknum will share the No. 3 machine, while Brandon Kreutz and Caanan O’Connell team up in the No. 18 entry.

Carson Kvapil will return to Martinsville Speedway this weekend where he made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at this event one year ago.
In his debut, the 21-year-old Mooresville native qualified 12th and drove his way to a fourth-place finish, his first in the top-five.
Kvapil has had great success at Martinsville in Late Model competition. In three starts, the young driver has finished first (2024), second (2022) and third (2023), all for JR Motorsports.
Roto-Rooter, the largest provider of plumbing, drain cleaning and water clean up services in North America, will ride along with the No. 1 car this weekend in their first of two primaries this season.

Justin Allgaier heads to Martinsville this weekend on a streak of two consecutive wins in the NXS, having scored victories at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway in the last two weeks.
Allgaier is a previous NXS winner at the Virginia short track, having brought home the checkered flag in the fall of 2023.
In nine NXS starts at Martinsville, Allgaier has recorded six top-fives and eight top-10s to accompany the 2023 win.

Sammy Smith will make his sixth NXS start this weekend on the Martinsville paperclip.
In Smith’s five starts on the 0.526-mile short-track, he has an impressive record of three top-fives, four top-10s and an average finish of 6.4.
The Iowa native has led 196 laps at Martinsville, the most of any track that he has competed on in the NXS.
Smith has twice finished in the runner-up position at Martinsville, including in the most recent event at the Virginia track last fall.
NASCAR’s Loop Details Statistics states that 91.7 percent of the laps Smith has run at Martinsville in the NXS have been within the top-15, and the young driver leads the series in fastest laps run with 118.

Connor Zilisch will be making his first NXS start on Saturday at Martinsville. Zilisch competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville in November 2024, posting a 12th-place finish despite starting outside the top 25.
The driver of the Carolina Carports Chevrolet enters Martinsville following a 12th-place finish, last weekend at Homestead. Zilisch overcame a pit-road penalty with 46 laps to go, picking up seven positions during the final run to the checkered flag.
Zilisch started second at Homestead, his best qualifying effort on an oval this season. His average starting position this season is 6.7 and he has started fourth or better in the last four races.
For the fourth consecutive race, Zilisch has gained positions in the NXS driver standings. He enters Martinsville seventh in the standings, 85 points behind leader Justin Allgaier, and is just 23 outside the top-five. Zilisch has gained 25 positions in the driver standings over the past four races.

“Martinsville is a tough track, it’s the shortest track we go to with really tight corners and it’s really important to have the car handling good. We are doing everything to make sure when we do show up it’s going to be as close as possible. Racing is always aggressive there, so it is easy to get frustrated and make mistakes. It’s always close quarters and a lot of bumping and late-race restarts. I’m just going to try to get through as clean as possible and get this Carolina Carports Chevrolet up front when it counts at the end of the day.”
