TEAM PENSKE, SHELL AND JOEY LOGANO FOUNDATION TEAM UP FOR HURRICANE HELENE RECOVERY EFFORTS

Special “Partners Powering Hurricane Recovery” scheme to be featured on the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Race at Martinsville Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 29, 2024) – Team Penske, Shell USA and The Joey Logano Foundation (JLF) announced today a collective program to support ongoing recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene that ravaged parts of five states in late September. This collaboration includes a special livery on the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang that Logano, the 2018 Martinsville Speedway fall race winner, will pilot at the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) race at the Virginia half-mile oval on Sunday, November 3.

From now through the checkered flag of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway–where Logano will attempt to win his third NCS title after securing a spot in the Championship 4 with his win in Las Vegas–fans and industry partners can give monetary donations through a special landing page at JoeyLogano.com where proceeds will directly benefit four charitable organizations that align with JLF’s mission to support children and young adults during difficult times in their lives: Crossnore Communities for Children, Speedway Children’s Charities’ Bristol (TN) Chapter, Least of These and the Children’s Hope Alliance. All donations up to $100,000 will be matched by Shell USA, JLF and another Team Penske legacy partner, PPG.

Team Penske, Shell USA and The Joey Logano Foundation (JLF) announced today a collective program

The goal of the “Partners Powering Hurricane Recovery” initiative is to provide both short- and long-term relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene. The current campaign will build upon the efforts already begun by Team Penske, Joey Logano, The Joey Logano Foundation and associated partners to provide resources to those in Western Carolina and beyond as they recover from the initial destruction of Hurricane Helene.

“Our team is committed to continuing to support those whose lives have so drastically changed in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene,” said Team Penske President Tim Cindric. “Many of us call North Carolina home, and we want to be there for those that are working so hard to restore the basics of their day-to-day lives. We are proud to partner with Shell USA and the Joey Logano Foundation on this initiative as we continue to strive to raise awareness for this ongoing need.”

In the initial weeks following the devastation, Logano and JLF committed $250,000 in financial support to the cause, then visited Western Carolina with key supplies to assist residents with cleanup efforts.

“Any time something happens this close to home, it hits a little differently,” Logano remarked. “We are going to invest in those communities and so many people right now are willing to help – which is incredible to see that support. We want to help where it’s going to matter the most and put together a long-term plan for not just this moment, but looking months and years down the road. How do we help support the families that are still going to be there? The Joey Logano Foundation has stayed true to its long-term vision to help those that need a helping hand, and we’re extremely grateful to have the support of partners like Shell and Team Penske who have aided in bringing this program to life over the last few weeks.”

As a start to the charitable program, Logano and JLF donated a Ford Explorer to Crossnore Communities for Children on Tuesday morning at the Team Penske shop. This new SUV will replace the former one used to transport children to and from their facility that was among the many pieces of property lost in the storm.

To support the cause and pledge support, people are encouraged to visit www.JoeyLogano.com. There is the option for general donations as well as direct giving to one of the four charities.

The XFINITY 500 at Martinsville Speedway, the final race of the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, can be seen live on NBC beginning at 2:00 pm ET on November 3.

Hettinger Racing Purchases Bret Holmes Racing

Team Owner Chris Hettinger To Field No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado for Driver Brett Moffitt in Final Two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Races of 2024

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2024) – Chris Hettinger, a longtime and winning Late Model team owner from Dryden, Michigan, has purchased the assets of Bret Holmes Racing. The organization will complete the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule with 2018 Truck Series champion Brett Moffitt under its new name, Hettinger Racing.

Hettinger is a second-generation racer whose father, Jim, raced open-wheel Midgets and Sprint Cars and won two championships in 1984 and 1990, accolades that earned him a spot in the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Chris began his racing career behind the wheel, winning in Midgets and Late Models before becoming a fulltime team owner.

Bret Holmes Racing (BHR) is an accomplished NASCAR team that has competed in the ARCA Menards Series and the Truck Series. The organization won the 2020 ARCA championship with Holmes serving as both driver and owner. BHR has entered 20 Truck Series races this year, but took a brief hiatus following its ninth-place finish with Holmes on Oct. 4 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The downtime allowed Hettinger to complete his purchase of BHR in time for the final two Truck Series races of the season – this Friday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Nov. 8 at Phoenix Raceway. Moffitt will drive the No. 4 Victory Custom Trailers Chevrolet Silverado in both events.

“Between the investments I’ve made over the years in our Late Model program and the opportunity to purchase Bret Holmes Racing, the time was right to grow Hettinger Racing into a team that can further drivers’ development by seamlessly transitioning them from Late Models to ARCA to Trucks,” Hettinger said. “We’ll continue our Late Model program by running the zMAX CARS Tour, and we’ll run select ARCA and Truck Series races that fit best with our overall schedule.

“Brett Moffitt gives us a great opportunity to get a head start on 2025. He’s proven himself in the Truck Series and his feedback from this week’s race at Martinsville and next week’s race at Phoenix will be invaluable.

“We’ve had a lot to do in a short period of time to get ready for these last two Truck Series races, and we’re confident the effort we’re putting in now will pay dividends next year.”

Moffitt is a skilled racer who has competed across all three of NASCAR’s top series – Cup, Xfinity and Truck. On his way to the 2018 Truck Series title, the Grimes, Iowa, native won a series-high six races, including the final two to secure the championship. In total, Moffitt has 13 Truck Series victories.

“I said earlier this year that when it came to racing, I wanted quality over quantity, and the equipment Chris Hettinger already had was second to none. With his purchase of Bret Holmes Racing, Chris’ operation is scaled up and ready to tackle the Truck Series,” said Moffitt, who also owns 10 wins in the ARCA Menards Series East. “I feel like the potential is there, and I’m really looking forward to driving their Chevy and getting Hettinger Racing prepared for next year.”

Hettinger Racing will make its Truck Series debut when practice begins at 1:35 p.m. EDT on Friday at Martinsville with qualifying immediately following. The 200-lap race around the .526-mile oval goes green at 6 p.m. with live coverage on FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. It will be Moffitt’s 96th career Truck Series start, but just his third this season. Moffitt has made six Truck Series starts at Martinsville with three top-three finishes. His best result is second, earned in October 2018 on his way to the championship.

CORVETTE RACING AT BAHRAIN: Let’s Finish with a Flourish!

TF Sport looking for strong close to end of first season with Corvette in Eight Hours

DETROIT (Oct. 29, 2024) – The first season of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R comes to a close this weekend with the Eight Hours of Bahrain and the end of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

TF Sport will look to be on the right side of luck in Saturday’s race to wrap up its first campaign with the Corvette brand. The team’s pair of Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs – the No. 81 of factory driver Charlie Eastwood, 2023 LMP2 race-winner Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy plus the No. 82 of factory driver Daniel Juncadella, Sebastien Baud and Hiroshi Koizumi – with a well-deserved podium finish… and perhaps more.

The potential for a strong finish to 2024 is definitely in the cards. The most recent WEC round at Fuji saw both Corvettes run toward the front of the LMGT3 class after putting the two Z06 GT3.Rs in the Hyperpole qualifying round for the first time.

The No. 81 Corvette finished a season-high fourth in class in Japan after being hit late in the race by a prototype. It was the second straight race that the Eastwood/Andrade/Van Rompuy trio were knocked out of contention by another car having been collected at Circuit of the Americas two weeks earlier while running second.

On the other side of the garage, the pace and performance of the No. 82 Corvette also has taken big steps forward starting at Le Mans in June. Like the sister car, the Fuji round started strong with Koizumi’s best qualifying effort of the season before a mechanical issue on the first pit stop relegated the No. 82 down the order.

Corvette engineers will have the benefit of experience at Bahrain thanks to last year’s race with the Corvette C8.R in the GTE Am class.

The Eight Hours of Bahrain is scheduled for 2 p.m. Arabian Standard Time / 7 a.m. ET on Saturday. MotorTrend TV will air full and live television coverage from 6:30-3:30 p.m. ET. Full live streaming coverage of Free Practice 3, qualifying and the race – including the No. 81 Corvette on-board camera – will be available on the FIA WEC app and the MAX app in the U.S. Radio Le Mans also will stream audio coverage of Friday’s final practice and qualifying, plus Saturday’s race.

TF SPORT PRE-EVENT DRIVER QUOTES

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m ready to get going in Bahrain. We were so close to a very, very good result at Fuji. We showed such super strong pace there on the back of what we showed at COTA. I feel that everyone on the team is very motivated to get a good result at Bahrain and end the season on a high. It’s been a challenging year but we’ve gotten stronger every race. Fuji showed that we had fantastic pace and it was a faultless job by the crew and my teammates. Our goal is to repeat that same performance at Bahrain and hopefully not get caught up in any dramas to get a podium at minimum and go for a win.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m hopeful heading into Bahrain. The team and the performance of the car is stronger than it has been at any point this year. All three of us – myself, Tom and Charlie – have driven well really the last four events going back to Le Mans. The team is executing at a high level on the pit stops and strategy. I really feel like we should have won the last two races were it not for other people hitting us. That’s tough to take when we did absolutely nothing wrong in both those cases. Hopefully things swing back our way and we close things strong at Bahrain. A podium would be nice but we want and deserve a win.”

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 82 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s pretty exciting to come to Bahrain because I’ve never been there. That goes together with Qatar and Le Mans being highlights for me because they are new tracks. So I’m excited to see how the Corvette feels at Bahrain. The last few rounds have been a massive step forward in terms of pace, and my teammates have been doing very, very well. I think we have a good chance to score a top result to finish off the season. That would be a fantastic way to finish things off in style, and I fancy our chances for that. This is a longer event, too, finishing at night. With testing of the Cadillac Hypercar the next day, it’s a pretty exciting weekend coming up.”

The Ultimate Guide to Insulated Drapes and Thermal Insulated Blackout Curtains for Year-Round Comfort

Photo by Kimberley Alpuerto on Unsplash

When it comes to creating a comfortable and energy-efficient home, insulated drapes and thermal insulated blackout curtains are valuable additions. These curtains not only add style but also provide superior insulation against heat and cold, block unwanted light, and even help reduce outside noise. In this guide, we’ll explore how these curtains work, their benefits, and how to choose the right style for your space to maximize comfort and efficiency.

Understanding Insulated Drapes and Thermal Insulated Blackout Curtains

Insulated drapes and thermal insulated blackout curtains are specifically designed to control temperature, reduce light penetration, and improve privacy. Unlike regular curtains, which focus primarily on aesthetics, these options combine style with practical, functional benefits. Here’s what sets them apart:

  • Multi-Layer Design: Insulated drapes are typically constructed with multiple layers, each serving a unique function. Layers can include an outer decorative fabric, an inner insulating layer, and a reflective layer to block sunlight. This construction effectively traps air, creating a thermal barrier between your home and the outside.
  • Blackout Capability: Thermal blackout curtains not only insulate but also block nearly all sunlight, making them ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, and home theaters. This feature is particularly useful for light sleepers or anyone looking to control indoor light levels.
  • Noise Reduction: The dense materials and multiple layers help to reduce external noise, adding an extra layer of peace and quiet to your living spaces.

Key Benefits of Insulated Drapes and Thermal Blackout Curtains

  1. Enhanced Energy Efficiency:
    • By reducing heat transfer, insulated drapes lower the need for constant heating or cooling, making your home more energy-efficient. During winter, they help retain warmth, while in summer, they block out excess heat, reducing the need for air conditioning.
    • Studies have shown that insulated drapes can reduce energy costs by 10-25% depending on factors like curtain type, placement, and climate.
  2. Improved Comfort and Temperature Regulation:
    • Insulated drapes maintain a consistent indoor temperature, preventing drafts and reducing fluctuations. This makes your home more comfortable throughout the year, especially in rooms with large windows or those that face direct sunlight.
  3. Effective Light Control:
    • The blackout feature in thermal curtains blocks up to 99% of light, which helps create an ideal environment for sleep or relaxation. They also prevent sunlight from fading furniture, flooring, and artwork, extending the lifespan of your home’s interior.
  4. Noise Reduction:
    • Insulated drapes’ heavy, layered construction effectively dampens sound, providing a quieter indoor environment. This feature is particularly beneficial for homes in noisy urban areas or close to busy roads, offering a quieter, more serene space.

Choosing the Right Insulated Drapes or Thermal Insulated Blackout Curtains

With a wide variety of styles and materials available, finding the right insulated or thermal blackout curtains for your home can be simple if you know what to look for:

  1. Material and Layers:
    • Look for curtains with a dense, multi-layer design. Materials like polyester, velvet, and thick cotton work well for insulation. The more layers the curtain has, the better it will be at blocking heat, light, and noise.
    • Some thermal blackout curtains feature reflective backings that help bounce sunlight away, ideal for sunny rooms that tend to overheat.
  2. Size and Coverage:
    • For maximum effectiveness, insulated drapes should cover the entire window frame and even extend a few inches beyond. Floor-length curtains offer the best insulation, as they minimize drafts by preventing air from leaking around the window.
    • Consider installing curtains with a wider coverage area if you have particularly drafty windows or older frames that are prone to heat transfer.
  3. Color and Aesthetic:
    • Thermal curtains come in various colors and patterns, so you don’t have to sacrifice style for function. Lighter colors can reflect more light, which is ideal for summer, while darker colors can add warmth to your décor and retain heat during colder months.
    • Choose a style that complements your room’s overall design to seamlessly integrate the curtains with your interior decor.
  4. Installation:
    • Heavier curtains often require sturdy curtain rods or tracks, especially when multiple layers are involved. Double curtain rods can allow for the addition of sheer curtains beneath thermal blackout drapes for daytime flexibility and added insulation.

Tips for Maximizing the Effectiveness of Insulated and Thermal Curtains

To get the most out of your insulated drapes or thermal blackout curtains, consider these additional tips:

  • Layering Curtains: For even more insulation, consider layering your thermal curtains with blinds or shades. This double-layered approach provides added warmth in winter and coolness in summer.
  • Sealing Windows: Make sure that any drafts or gaps around windows are properly sealed. Small steps like adding weather stripping can enhance the insulation benefits of your curtains by reducing the amount of air exchange.
  • Adding Curtain Liners: Some thermal blackout curtains allow for additional liners, which can improve their effectiveness, especially in extremely hot or cold climates.

Maintenance and Care for Insulated Drapes and Thermal Curtains

Proper care ensures your insulated curtains remain effective and looking great over time. Here are some maintenance tips:

  1. Regular Cleaning:
    • Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to regularly remove dust, especially if your curtains are thick and challenging to wash. Regular cleaning keeps the fabric in good condition and prevents dust buildup.
  2. Spot Cleaning or Machine Wash:
    • Always check the manufacturer’s instructions for washing guidelines. While some thermal curtains are machine washable, others may need spot cleaning or even dry cleaning to preserve their layers and functionality.
  3. Periodic Replacement:
    • Over time, curtains may lose some of their insulating properties due to wear and tear, particularly if they face direct sunlight daily. Consider replacing them every few years to maintain optimal performance.
  4. Seasonal Adjustments:
    • In mild climates, you may want to switch between insulated drapes and lighter curtains seasonally. Thermal curtains are ideal for harsh winters and hot summers, but swapping them for lighter drapes in spring and fall can improve airflow and prevent rooms from feeling stuffy.

Why Invest in Insulated Drapes and Thermal Blackout Curtains?

Investing in insulated drapes and thermal blackout curtains goes beyond mere aesthetic appeal—they serve a functional role in energy efficiency, comfort, and overall quality of life. Here are some lasting reasons why these curtains are a worthy addition to your home:

  1. Year-Round Savings: By reducing the need for constant heating or cooling, insulated curtains offer long-term savings on energy bills, often paying for themselves over time.
  2. Environmental Benefits: Lower energy consumption means a reduced carbon footprint, aligning your home with eco-friendly and sustainable living practices.
  3. Enhanced Home Comfort: From improved sleep quality to a quieter indoor environment, insulated curtains significantly contribute to a more comfortable, enjoyable home atmosphere.
  4. Protection of Interior: The blackout feature helps protect your interior furnishings from UV damage, maintaining the look and longevity of your home’s décor.

Final Thoughts: Transforming Your Space with Insulated Drapes and Thermal Curtains

Insulated drapes and thermal insulated blackout curtains are an investment in comfort, efficiency, and style. From reducing energy costs and controlling indoor temperatures to enhancing privacy and providing noise reduction, these curtains offer a range of benefits that make everyday life more comfortable. For rooms that require optimal light control, such as bedrooms or home theaters, or spaces prone to drafts and temperature fluctuations, thermal blackout curtains provide a practical and stylish solution.

Choosing the right set of insulated drapes or thermal blackout curtains for your space involves considering size, material, and aesthetic preferences. With the right selection, these curtains not only enhance your home’s energy efficiency but also contribute to a peaceful, stylish, and sustainable environment that’s suited to year-round comfort.

Can You Sue for a Wrongful Death in a Motorcycle Accident Claim?

Photo by seabass creatives on Unsplash

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that motorcycle riders account for 14% of all traffic facilities, even though only 3% of all registered vehicles are motorcycles. Motorcycle accidents account for 17% of all deaths among people and 3% of injuries to those in vehicles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also highlights that riding without a helmet significantly increases the risks for motorcycle riders. There were 2,251 fatalities from motorcycle accidents involving riders who were not wearing helmets. Losing a loved one in an accident is painful, but when death is caused by someone’s negligence, it is even more devastating.

But can you sue for a wrongful death? Motorcycle accident lawyer Frank Santini says you can pursue a wrongful death claim if your loved one died in a motorcycle accident due to another person’s actions or carelessness. You can seek compensation, which you can use for medical expenses or funeral costs.

Learn how to seek justice for your loved one’s untimely death by filing a wrongful death claim.

A motorcycle accident wrongful death claim requires proof that the defendant’s acts caused the fatality. Show that the defendant was careless or willfully detrimental, causing your loved one’s death. This could include irresponsible driving, failing to yield, or DUI in a motorcycle accident.

You must show that the defendant breached their duty of care to the dead, that this breach directly caused the accident, and that the accident killed your loved one for your wrongful death claim to be successful.

Encino wrongful death attorney David Davidi suggests that you need police reports, witness accounts, medical records, and expert testimony to support your claim. Building a compelling case and showing the defendant’s liability can help you recover medical bills, burial costs, lost income, and emotional distress from the tragedy.

Determining Liability in Motorcycle Accidents

Evaluating the actions and responsibilities of all participants is a significant step toward understanding who may be at fault in the motorcycle accident. Determining liability in a motorcycle accident often involves examining traffic rules, road conditions, and each party’s actions. Evaluating a motorcyclist’s involvement in an accident considers their speed, the maneuvers they performed, and their adherence to traffic laws.

Road conditions and weather at the time of the collision also affect responsibility. Poor road maintenance, absence of signs, or bad weather might put responsibility on road maintenance companies or third parties. Witness testimony, police reports, and expert analysis can all help shed light on the factors contributing to a motorcycle accident.

You need to consult an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer to evaluate how these external factors influence liability and strengthen your claim with supporting evidence. Legal guidance can help ensure that all responsible parties are identified and that your case is presented with the clarity it requires.

Compensation Available for Wrongful Death

Motorcycle accident wrongful death compensation may encompass numerous factors. Medical bills, funeral expenses, and the deceased’s lost income can be included. The remaining family members may also be paid for pain and suffering, loss of companionship, and emotional anguish.

If the responsible party was extremely reckless or negligent, punitive damages may be levied to prevent future negligence. Understanding the different sorts of compensation will help you and your legal team create a strong case for motorcycle accident-related wrongful death.

Statute of Limitations for Filing Claims

Understanding the legal deadline for filing a motorcycle accident wrongful death claim is vital to pursuing your claim. State statutes of limitations for filing claims range from one to three years after the accident or death. If you don’t file your claim by the deadline, you may lose your right to compensation for the wrongful death.

If you miss the statute of limitations, the court may dismiss your claim, leaving you without a legal remedy. Thus, after an accident, legal guidance must be sought immediately. An expert attorney can help you comprehend your case’s time constraints and complete relevant documentation on time. Being proactive and aware of the statute of limitations will help you pursue a wrongful death claim and get the compensation you deserve.

Steps to Take in Pursuing a Claim

You must act immediately after a motorcycle accident that causes wrongful death to win your claim. First, report the collision to the police. File a police complaint to support your allegation. Get medical treatment for injuries and retain records. Photographs of the accident site, damaged automobiles, and injuries are crucial evidence.

Talk to a wrongful death lawyer with extensive experience in motorcycle crashes. When you go to court, they can help you understand your rights and figure out how strong your case is. Your lawyer will help you get more proof to back your claim, like statements from witnesses and opinions from experts.

Keep accident, medical, and insurance documents throughout the process. Contact your attorney often to discuss your claim and legal measures. Follow these procedures carefully to increase your chances of winning a motorcycle accident wrongful death lawsuit.

Conclusion

If you’ve experienced the loss of a loved one in a motorcycle accident caused by someone else’s carelessness, you might have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Talking to a personal injury attorney can really help you understand your legal rights and explore your options for getting the compensation you deserve. Remember to act quickly within the statute of limitations to ensure your claim is filed promptly.

FORMER TOP FUEL CHAMPS SHAWN LANGDON & STEVE TORRENCE AFTER BIG WEEKENDS AT FORD PERFORMANCE NHRA NATIONALS

Langdon and Torrence both within striking distance of points leader Justin Ashley with two races remaining in the Countdown to the Championship

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 28, 2024) – In a Top Fuel championship race that could be one for the ages in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, what happens at this weekend’s 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway could loom large in the title chase.

That’s especially true for those needing a big weekend to draw closer to points leader Justin Ashley, who took over the top spot following his Dallas win. Three-time world champion Antron Brown trails Ashley but just 44 points, but he’s not the only one still looking to make a championship push at the final two races in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

Former champ Shawn Langdon is only 76 points out of first in his 11,000-horsepower Kalitta Air Careers dragster, while four-time champion Steve Torrence sits just 88 points behind in his Capco Contractors dragster. Tony Schumacher is 105 points out of first, as the four drivers directly behind Ashley have a combined 16 championships between them.

Langdon, though, knows his Kalitta Motorsports team needs to make up ground quickly and he’ll need a big weekend in Vegas to stay in viable contention at the finale in Pomona.

“In a perfect world, the Kalitta Air Careers team wins the race this weekend and takes the points lead,” Langdon said. “We just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing all season but turn a couple of those runner-up finishes into race wins. Where it ends up, it ends up. Our goal is to win the last two races – we’re not focused on anything else.”

Last season, Mike Salinas (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock) all won the late-season race in Las Vegas. This year’s race will again be broadcast on FS1, with elimination coverage at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 3. It is the fifth of six races in the Countdown to the Championship and the 19th of 20 races in the 2024 season, and the action will undoubtedly be intense in Las Vegas.

Langdon won two of the first three races this year, but hasn’t been back to the winner’s circle, falling in the final round five other times. That includes in Reading to open the postseason, while Torrence is also looking to finish the deal in Las Vegas. He’s had big moments this year and has been consistent, but Torrence, who won in Seattle, knows he’ll need victories to claim a fifth world title.

He was the runner-up in St. Louis and advanced to the semifinals in Dallas during the playoffs, but will need more than that in Las Vegas. The good news is Torrence has enjoyed plenty of success at The Strip, winning five times, though the challenge is getting past a loaded field that also includes Clay Millican, Brittany Force and Tony Stewart.

Torrence is plenty battle-tested, which he hopes plays into his favor this weekend, where intensity will be at a fever pitch with the championship still up for grabs.

“I still feel good about the championship,” Torrence said. “We’ve shot ourselves in the foot a couple times, but I don’t think we’ve shot it smooth off. The thing is, we just can’t make any more mistakes. We’re down 88 points and, going into Pomona, we need to at least be within two rounds (60 points). So, we’ve got some work to do.

“We have an opportunity. Vegas has been good to us. We’ve won a lot of rounds (46, more than at any other venue) and a lot of races but, to be honest, that’s old news. It’s all about what we can do this weekend and I can’t think of anybody I’d rather go into a battle like this with than these CAPCO boys. They’ve been here. They know the pressure. They know what needs to be done.”

In Funny Car, Austin Prock has a chance to clinch his first world championship with a big weekend in Las Vegas. He currently leads John Force Racing teammate Jack Beckman, who is driving for Force, by 147 points, and could cement his first world title with a memorable Las Vegas event. Others to watch include Bob Tasca III, reigning world champ Matt Hagan and three-time champ Ron Capps.

Dallas Glenn currently leads the way in Pro Stock, as the 2021 NHRA Rookie of the Year holds a 53-point advantage over another young standout, Aaron Stanfield. Greg Anderson is 90 points back, while reigning Pro Stock champion Enders, whose 10 wins are the most in NHRA history at The Strip, is 111 points out of first.

Gaige Herrera is after a second straight title in Pro Stock Motorcycle, with the defending event winner ahead of six-time champ Matt Smith by 62 points. Other standouts include Hector Arana Jr., Jianna Evaristo, Chase Van Sant and Richard Gadson.

The Ford Performance NHRA Nationals also will feature thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the Summit Racing Series E.T. Finals. The weekend will also include action in Legends Nitro Funny Car class and a spectacular jet dragster exhibition after nitro qualifying on Friday and Saturday.

It’s also the final race of the 2024 season in the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by LearnEV+, Johnson’s Horsepowered Mountain Motor Pro Stock and the new Holley EFI Factory X category.

Fans are invited to the Nitro Alley Stage in the pits, where they can take part in Nitro School, meet and greets, influencer interviews and much more. Vegas race fans can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that celebrate each of the drivers racing for the prestigious Wally on Sunday and includes the SealMaster Track Walk. The final can’t-miss experience of any NHRA event is the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday, where fans are invited to congratulate the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals event winners.

As always, fans get a pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. They can see their favorite teams in action and servicing their hot rods between rounds, get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers and more. They can also visit NHRA’s Manufacturers Midway, where sponsors and race vendors create an exciting atmosphere that includes displays, merchandise, food, and fun.

NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 1, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. PT on Nov. 3. Television coverage includes qualifying action on FS1 at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday with eliminations at 5:00 p.m. ET.

To purchase tickets to the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, call 800-644-4444 or visit www.lvms.com. Children 12 and under are admitted free in general admissions areas with a paid adult. For more information about NHRA, visit www.nhra.com.

Food City named title sponsor of tradition-rich Speedway In Lights at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Oct. 28, 2024) – Grocery retailer Food City will partner with the tradition-rich Speedway in Lights presented by TVA at Bristol Motor Speedway in a multi-year agreement, it was announced today by officials from the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

The Food City Speedway In Lights presented by TVA will open for its 28th season of spreading holiday cheer across the Appalachian Highlands Region on Friday, Nov. 15, and will run until Sunday, Jan. 4, 2025.

The dazzling holiday light display showcases more than 3 million lights spread across 300 displays in a five-mile route that winds through the property alongside historic Bristol Dragway and is highlighted by a festive lap around the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway. The popular light show operates from 6-10 p.m. each night, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The seven-week holiday extravaganza is the major fundraiser for the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and since its inception in 1997 has helped SCC-Bristol raise more than $20 million for the nearly 100 local children’s-based organizations throughout the 18-county region surrounding BMS in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Longtime BMS partner Food City has been involved with Speedway In Lights and the BMS Winter Events in past years as a presenting sponsor of various activities, but this is the first time that the popular supermarket chain will headline the main event.

“We have been blessed here to have some amazing partners over the years that have elevated our ‘little light show’ from back in 1997 to the wonderful status that it enjoys today,” said Claudia Byrd, executive director of the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. “But today we are so proud and thankful to make this announcement that our friends at Food City are going to sign on as our new entitlement partner moving forward and help us take Speedway In Lights to the next level.”

Through Food City’s involvement, a host of new attractions will greet Speedway In Lights visitors this season:

  • More than 40 new Santa’s Safari festive LED displays will be unveiled along the route
  • The Bristol Turbo Tube Slide presented by State Water Heaters will energize the HSN Christmas Village
  • Guests will get to explore Snow-Mazing, a 2,000-square-foot inflatable maze, also in the Christmas Village

Food City has been a prolific partner with BMS for more than three decades and their association is anchored by their 34-year racing entitlements, the Food City 500 NASCAR Cup Series race, April 13, 2025, and the Food City 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series Round of 12 Playoff race, Sept. 12, 2025.

“We’ve always admired the tremendous job that Bristol’s chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities does in our region to assist children in need, it’s quite remarkable,” said Steve Smith, President and CEO of Food City. “Speedway In Lights is such a treasured event in our community that has passed the Christmas spirit along to visitors from all across the United States and from around the world, really. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Food City Speedway In Lights presented by TVA to help amplify the overall effort, which at the end of the day, is for the children.”

Byrd is energized by the hundreds of dedicated staff and volunteers who make the Food City Speedway In Lights come alive each year. She also continues to be humbled by the primary mission of the event.

“The most wonderful thing about the Food City Speedway In Lights is the opportunities it creates for families and friends to get together and enjoy a night out during each holiday season to create some amazing memories,” Byrd said. “And also watching a child’s face light up as they gaze upon the beautiful lights or visit with Santa Claus.”

In addition to the new displays being introduced this year, the route will continue to offer many of its longtime favorites, including The Twelve Days of Christmas, Ripley’s Sea of Illumination, Mycroft Signs Race to Space, NASCAR Pit Stop, Dinosaur Land, the beautiful Candelabra, Drag Cars, Victorian Village, the Nativity Scene presented by Visit My Smokies and Toy Land.

Several Food City Speedway In Lights partners also have custom light displays, including ETSU, Ballad Health, Hardee’s Restaurants, Barter Theatre, and BTES. Five new sponsors are joining the route this year, including Beech Mountain Resort, which is sponsoring the Snowman Maker display, Brightspeed, State Water Heaters and Wendy’s.

About mid-way through the route, guests will have the opportunity to stop in the BMS oval infield and visit the popular Home Shopping Network (HSN) Appalachian country-themed Christmas Village, to take advantage of photo opportunities in front of several special holiday displays, roast marshmallows over an open fire, shop with a variety of local vendors and check out some great arts and crafts. Several family-friendly midway rides will be available and the kids will also get to visit with Santa Claus in the Barter Theatre Santa Hut.

While you are in the HSN Christmas Village, you will be entertained by the popular Symphony in Lights, located in the Darrell Waltrip Grandstands. The popular attraction returns to showcase more than 300,000 lights all coordinated to flicker and flash to the tunes of festive holiday music.

The Food City Speedway in Lights has added new dynamic pricing for 2024, where depending on the night of the week and time of the visit, prices for cars will range between $20-35. Guests are encouraged to check the Food City Speedway In Lights webpage for specific pricing for each night. Visitors should also be aware of several coupons and discounts available Sunday-Thursdays. For larger groups, vans are $85 and buses are $150. Visitors can take advantage of The Fast Lane presented by Citi, a speedy $75 option which provides a shorter wait time on select nights when traffic lines get long.

After touring the Food City Speedway in Lights presented by TVA, guests are encouraged to visit the Tri-Cities Airport Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway presented by Stateline Services. Located at BMS Entrance No. 1, the Tri-Cities Airport Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway presented by Stateline Services returns to bring joy to local ice-skating enthusiasts. The Ice Rink will open on Thursday, Nov. 14 and run until Sunday, Jan. 12. Hours of operation vary from day to day, so please review the schedule on the BMS website in advance.

Guests should monitor Food City Speedway In Lights social media channels to be on the lookout for a variety of discount opportunities available through special partners on the following nights: WCYB and Food City (Sunday); Wendy’s (Monday); Southeast Industrial Construction (Tuesday); Hardee’s Restaurants (Wednesday); and Goodwill Industries of Tenneva (Thursday).

The Food City Speedway In Lights is supported by these outstanding media partners: Holston Valley Broadcasting (WTFM Radio 98.5 FM); WCYB TV 5 (NBC); Bristol Herald-Courier newspaper; and Bristol Broadcasting (WAEZ Radio Electric 94.9 FM).

The holiday festivities will officially kick off at BMS with the 14th annual Speedway in Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. All participants who pre-register before October 31st will receive an event t-shirt and there will be free snacks and drinks for all participants who cross the Home Trust Bank Finish Line.
