MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 3, 2014) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Michael Annett will climb aboard his No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS at Richmond International Raceway this weekend.
Annett cites Richmond as one of his favorite racetracks, and for good reason. He finished 13th or better, including a fifth-place finish in 2012, in his last four NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the facility. His seventh-place average running position in the 2013 fall race served as his best single-race average running position of the entire season.
In his Cup Series debut at RIR in April, Annett finished 33rd after fighting an ill-handling racecar for the majority of the night. Now with a sense of momentum – Annett and the Tommy Baldwin Racing team are fresh off of a 21st-place finish last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway – the No. 7 team looks to improve on their most recent result at the 3/4-mile track.
The race will air live Saturday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:
“We had some handling issues in the spring, which was a shame. Richmond is one of my favorite tracks. It’s a place I feel we can do really well at, but it will be important for us to nail down the handling in practice. I think we can get there. Bono [Manion, crew chief] and everyone at TBR have been helping improve upon our initial setups each weekend. We’re capable of a great outing.”
