No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet News and Notes

Justin Allgaier returns to Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) as defending winner… Allgaier returns to Bristol Motor Speedway as the defending winner of last year’s event. The Riverton, Ill-native is the only Nationwide Series regular to win in the past season, leading 27 laps to capture the checkered flag in his first series’ victory.

Bristol by the numbers… The 24-year-old BRANDT Chevy driver has four starts at BMS. He is credited with one victory, two top-five and two top-10 finishes. Allgaier has an average starting spot of 13.5, with his best start of fourth coming last August under the lights.

Driver points standings… After his runner-up finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Allgaier climbed three spots and currently sits fifth in the Nationwide Series driver point standings. The BRANDT driver is 16 points behind points leader and Turner Motorsports teammate, Reed Sorenson. All three championship contending Turner Motorsports drivers are currently in the top-five, with Sorenson leading and Jason Leffler in third-place.

This week’s Impala… The BRANDT team will hit the track with chassis TMS-105. This chassis has previously been run at Charlotte with James Buescher behind the wheel and finished 16th.

During the off weekend… While the Nationwide Series teams enjoyed a weekend off before heading to Bristol, Allgaier traveled to Indianapolis to take in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. When asked to compare the Supercross action to Nationwide Series racing, Allgaier suggested the series adopt the wild introduction style of the Supercross event.

The Weekend at a Glance… The BRANDT Chevy driver will test his fighting skills as he participates in Bristol Motor Speedway’s annual Wii Boxing tournament Friday evening at the track. Then on Saturday, Allgaier will be featured as the in-race reporter live on ESPN during the Scotts EZ Seed 300.

First Win… Turner Motorsports captured its first win two weeks ago at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Sam’s Town 300 with Mark Martin and the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet. The organization is in its sophomore season of NASCAR competition and has already captured one win, one pole, along with 17 top-five and 37 top-10 finishes. Turner Motorsports has expanded from a two-truck NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) operation in 2010 to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-tier touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the NNS.

Justin Allgaier on Bristol Motor Speedway

“I can’t wait to get back to Bristol Motor Speedway, especially having won this race last year. It’s such an awesome track with a lot of character. I have a lot of confidence our BRANDT team will capitalize on our second place finish at Las Vegas and hopefully we will find ourselves in victory lane at the end of the day.”
