BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 20, 2011) — It’s simple. Receive a golden ticket in your ticket mailing and receive an experience like none other at Michigan International Speedway.

For the second consecutive year, MIS and its Fan Appreciation Program is giving away hundreds of experiences to randomly selected fans in their ticket mailings and print at home orders with special ‘golden tickets.’

More than 800 of MIS’ guests are slated to receive prizes over the next several weeks.

The Fan Appreciation Program began giving away experiences when it was launched in 2008, with the golden ticket extension of the program beginning in 2010.

Experiences include special VIP access, which include pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions, pace car rides and more for both the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 weekend, June 17-19, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400 weekend on August 19-21.

The track even sent a couple of fans to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas.

“We pride ourselves on giving our fans the best possible experiences when they are here through our Fan Appreciation Program,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “This golden ticket program is exciting because we randomly draw names and send upgrades to them in their ticket mailings. We are giving away some really great experiences for both the June and August race weekends so be on the lookout. You could be selected!”

If fans receive a golden ticket, depending on the experience awarded, they must redeem it at the Fan Appreciation booth, located near the flag pole in the center of the New Holland Fan Plaza. Instructions on where to redeem will be provided on the back of the golden ticket.

Fans may also visit www.MISpeedway.com/fanappreciationfor details on their upgrade.

In 2010, MIS took its Fan Appreciation Program to another level by developing a Fan Trophy, which was presented on behalf of the fans to race winners Denny Hamlin (June) and Kevin Harvick (August). The crew members of the winning race teams also received a smaller version of the Fan Trophy, congratulating them on their achievements. The Fan Trophy was presented along with the sponsor trophy after the conclusion of the race.

Michelle Graves of Wyoming, Mich. presented a fan trophy to race winner Denny Hamlin in Gatorade Victory Lane last June through the Fan Appreciation Program. For Graves and her son Caleb (then 8 years old), it was an experience of a lifetime.

“Words can’t explain what a wonderful experience it was to present the winning trophy to Denny Hamlin on behalf of the fans,” Graves said. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my son and I. Being in Gatorade Victory Lane and being that close to everything was so special. I can’t say enough about how great it was to do something like that.”

Curtis and his staff are committed to providing its fans with memorable experiences while they visit MIS each summer and the Fan Appreciation Program is an extension of that commitment. Fan feedback has also played an important role in many of the $60 million worth of facility improvements that the speedway has invested over the last few years as well as the creation of the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and Fan Advisory Network (FAN), which weighs in on many MIS initiatives.

“It’s important for us to show our fans how much we appreciate them for choosing Michigan International Speedway during both good and bad economic times,” Curtis said. “You can’t buy loyalty — you earn it. So we’re continuing to show fans how much their loyalty means to us by providing opportunities that are unique experiences that will create lasting memories of their time at MIS.”   Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
