Dodge Motorsports Notes & Quotes – Cup Final Qualifying – Darlington

Friday, May 6, 2011 Dodge Motorsports PR Darlington Raceway SHOWTIME Southern 500 Post-Qualifying Quotes NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

BRAD KESELOWSKI (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 10th QUALIFYING RUN INITIALLY WASN’T RECORDED: “There’s a couple different ways that you can look at it. Either we were too fast to be scored or weren’t good enough to be scored (laughs). I was nervous for a minute that I was going to have to run another qualifying lap and that was the last thing that I wanted to do. It was a good lap in this Miller Lite Dodge. The car felt OK, not great, but OK.

“I’ve qualified well here the first couple of times that I’ve raced in the Cup Series and today was no different. To put our Miller Lite Dodge in the top-10 for qualifying is awesome. Track position is key here and starting up front will certainly help. I think that we have speed in the car and it seems to handle each end of the race track. Now, we have to race like we qualify.”

KURT BUSCH (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 25th “Qualifying at the “Lady in Black” is never easy and trying to do it with a back-up car is a bigger challenge. We had to go to the back-up car after we cut a right-front (tire) in practice and once the rain came in and wiped out the rest of practice, we just didn’t get the chance to put any laps on the car to shake it down. It is what it is. We dug ourselves a hole and will have to fight our way up through the pack tomorrow night in our Shell/Pennzoil Dodge.
