Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

CORNELIUS, N.C. — No. 00 Aaron’s/Armed Forces Foundation Toyota driver David Reutimann returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 with the same Toyota Camry that he finished third with in Saturday’s Sprint All-Star Race. The original plan was to bring a different car from the Michael Waltrip Racing team’s fleet, but after the strong run – the best finish of the year – the No. 00 team decided to call an audible and race the car from last weekend. That move required some extra work at the MWR shop this week but it was well worth the time if it means Reutimann has a better chance to repeat his 2009 victory in the Coca-Cola 600.

DAVID REUTIMANN QUOTES

ON TAKING THE ALL-STAR CAR BACK FOR THE 600:  “Normally there is a time period between races where we take the Aaron’s Dream Machine back to the shop, take it apart, go over it and send it back out for a race maybe a couple weeks later – which is how we normally do it. We felt this Aaron’s Dream Machine was so good – we feel like all our cars are very good, but we felt a good connection and something going good with this car and we didn’t want to take a chance at jeopardizing that so we went ahead and decided to use the same car. That just means that the guys here in the shop are going to have to hustle. We have a great group of guys, whether it be down in the fab shop or out on the shop floor that will be able to get it turned around. I appreciate the opportunity and the effort to do that because certainly that wasn’t something that we had in the plans. Any time you change plans it means a lot more work for a lot of people, so those guys are down there busting their tails getting it turned back around. I really appreciate the work that they’re doing.”

ON RACING THE ARMED FORCES FOUNDATION PAINT SCHEME ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND? “The Armed Forces Foundation is a great foundation that we’ve done quite a bit of stuff with in the past. Aaron’s and the Armed Forces Foundation have a great relationship. It’s just a great organization. They do a lot of great things for the soldiers that have been wounded or served and are serving. They continue to help out with all kinds of things whether it’s helping furnish homes or sometimes they build new homes for soldiers that have fallen on hard times. It seems like the Armed Forces Foundation is always there to lift them up. I think the more recognition that we can bring to the Armed Forces Foundation and help bring donations to them is a great thing. The Armed Forces Foundation lives off of donations, so anything we can do to help is a great thing. In fact, if you’d like to help you can make a $5 donation by texting “AFF” to 50555 from any phone. I’ve done it and I hope many others help as well.”

ADDITIONAL NOTES OF INTEREST

· David Reutimann is making his fourth start in the Coca-Cola 600: In his previous three starts at NASCAR’s longest event, Reutimann has one win, two top-fives and has never finished outside of the top-10. Reutimann’s lone career Sprint Cup Series win came in last year’s rain delayed and rain shortened race that was called due to rain after only 227 of the scheduled 400 laps. In 2010, Reutimann started sixth, finished fifth, led three laps and scored a 119.7 driver rating—second only to race winner Kurt Busch.

· Text “AFF” to 50555 from any cell phone to make a $5 donation to the Armed Forces Foundation. The Armed Forces Foundation is dedicated to providing comfort and solace to members of the military community through financial support, career counseling, housing assistance and recreational therapy programs to active-duty and retired personnel, National Guard, Reserve components, and their loved ones.

· Come One, Come All! Michael Waltrip Racing will hold its annual Fan Day on May 25 in Cornelius, N.C. Truex will sign autographs starting 5:30 p.m. Michael Waltrip along with David Reutimann, Bobby Labonte, Ryan Truex and Brett Moffitt will also be in attendance.
