Roush Fenway Focuses Effort on Kansas and Chicagoland

After posting perhaps its most dominating Charlotte Speedweeks effort ever, Roush Fenway Racing refocuses its attention on Kansas Speedway, where the Sprint Cup program will look for its second consecutive victory, and Chicagoland Spedway, where the team will hope to continue its fast run in the Nationwide Series.

May Sweeps

Roush Fenway was once again hot last weekend, posting a one-two finish in the Nationwide Series on Saturday at Charlotte, and leading 221 laps while dominating the majority of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at the 1.5-mile track. The team visited NASCAR victory lane a total of six times in the month of May, and also collected three pole awards during the stretch.

Roush Fenway at Kansas

Roush Fenway has made 48 Sprint Cup starts at Kansas Speedway, winning three times and collecting 12 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes. Roush Fenway’s first win at the track came via the NNS series with Jeff Burton in 2002. It’s first Sprint Cup win at Kansas came in 2005 via Mark Martin. Greg Biffle is Roush Fenway’s winningst driver at Kansas, having won twice there in the Cup Series, including last fall. This year marks the first time that Kansas Speedway has hosted two Cup races in a single season.

Leading the Way

Roush Fenway has led a total of 722 laps in NASCAR Sprint Cup action at Kansas, including 88 last fall, with three of Roush Fenway’s four Fords leading in the event.

The Nationwide Series at Chicagoland

Roush Fenway has made a total of 30 starts in the Nationwide Series at Chicagoland, posting 14 top-10 finishes and eight top fives. The company has led 221 laps in NNS action at the track and finished runner up on two occasions (Edwards in 2006 and Kenseth in 2007).

Looking for the ‘W’

Chicagoland is the only current track on the NASCAR circuit, that hosts multiple series, that Roush Fenway has never won. Currently Roush has fielded 79 entries at Chicagoland, while putting up 14 top-five finishes, 30 top 10s and two poles. While never having won at Chicagoland, Roush Fenway has finished runner up on five occasions in NASCAR action at the track (three in the Sprint Cup and twice in the Nationwide Series), including Carl Edwards’ second-place finish in the Cup race last year.

Leading the Way

Carl Edwards continues to grow his Sprint Cup points lead, now leading second place by 36 points. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. trails first place in the Nationwide Series point standings by just a single point.
