MARTIN TRUEX JR. No. 56 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Michigan International Speedway

CORNELIUS, N.C.—  NAPA AUTO PARTS driver Martin Truex Jr. and new crew chief Chad Johnston are off to a solid start after earning a 10th-place finish and gaining two spots in the point standings at Pocono. They plan to keep the momentum going this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Truex calls the fast, two-mile, D-shaped oval “a big old dirt track” and one of the most enjoyable tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit.

QUOTES

MARTIN TRUEX JR. ON RACING AT MICHIGAN: “I really like Michigan and the biggest reason is the amount of grooves it has. It is a really big track with it being high banked and two miles long. It makes it a lot of fun because you’ve got at least five to six different lanes to chose for each corner and they all work really well. If you can get your car set up for anywhere on that track, you can run well. That’s the biggest thing. And the speed—it’s fun to run that fast and slide around. It’s like running a big old dirt track.”

ON NEW PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT: “At Michigan, I’ll be announcing a new partnership and they’ll be activating at the track this weekend. Fans coming to the tracks this summer can take advantage of some great products. Stay tuned and check out our web site and Facebook pages on Friday afternoon for all details.”
