Carl Edwards Infineon Fast Facts

Carl Edwards – NSCS INFINEON ADVANCE

Team: No. 99 Scotts Ortho Ford Fusion

Crew Chief: Bob Osborne

Chassis: RK-758 This is a new car

Carl Edwards on racing at Infineon Raceway:

“The most demanding weekend of the year is this one. We compete on two tough road courses that are thousands of miles apart. Billy Johnson will practice and set up the Fastenal Mustang in Wisconsin Friday while I practice and qualify the Ortho Fusion in California, then we will travel to Road America to race Saturday, then back to Infineon for Sunday’s race. I feel that Saturday’s race will help me prepare for Sunday and will make up for the lost practice in the Sprint Cup car. There’s a lot of pride in winning on a road course, and a win at either event would be huge.”

Crew chief Bob Osborne on racing at Infineon Raceway:

“Our road course program has come a long way since 2004. Carl is coming into his own as a driver and our ability to lead laps and get strong finishes is evidence of that. His two wins in the Nationwide Series in Montreal and Road America are a credit to his road racing skills. We are bringing a new car that tested well at Road Atlanta, so I feel confident that we’ll be competitive at Sonoma.”

FAST FACTS

* CARL EDWARDS enters Infineon with a 20-point lead in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings. In 15 Cup Series starts in 2011, he has accumulated one win, eight top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.

* FOR THE RECORD…Edwards will make his seventh Cup start at Infineon this weekend. In his previous six starts, Edwards has two top-10 finishes and has led 14 laps.

* ON THE TRACK…The Aflac team will be bringing chassis RK-758 this weekend to Sonoma. It is a new car that the team tested at Road Atlanta. The car will also carry a new Scotts Ortho paint scheme.

* DOUBLE DUTY…Edwards will split time between Infineon Raceway and Road America. This week’s trip will be the most extensive of his double-duty trips this season with a distance of 2,180 miles between tracks.

* REWIND, INFINEON 2010… Edwards could never quite get the track position he needed throughout the race and was 14th in the closing laps. With only a few laps to go, Edwards was spun by another car and although there was no caution and he did not have to pit, he fell back to 32nd place. He gained a few spots on the final lap to finish 29th.
