Another Strong Finish for Starr

Lebanon, TN – July 22, 2011. The 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visited the Nashville Super Speedway twice in the 2011 season and just as he did back in April, David Starr and the SS Green Light Racing Team posted an eighth place finish in the Lucas Deep Clean 200 at the concrete mile and one third track. It was the third consecutive top-ten of the season for the Texas veteran.

Once again, Starr was forced to come from deep in the field to earn the fifth top-ten of the year as the Allegro Marinade/Zachry No. 81 was mired in traffic back in 16th place when the trucks restarted following a caution on lap 113 of the 150 lap Lucas Deep Clean 200.

David’s Toyota Tundra was solid in the afternoon practice sessions and had a strong qualifying run of 30.99 seconds at nearly 155 mph, which gave him the eleventh starting spot in the thirty-six truck field behind pole-winner Austin Dillon.

At the drop of the green Starr kept the pedal to the medal and moved into the top-ten early in the race where he stayed for the first fifty miles of the 200-mile race. The Allegro Marinade/Zachry Tundra fell back in the middle section of the race fading to fifteenth and was in danger of loosing the lead lap when a caution for debris came out on lap 103. It was the kind of luck that Starr has not always seen in 2011.

Following another quick caution on lap 108, David took the green flag on lap 112 buried deep in the field in sixteenth place. David used great patience as the front half of the field raced side-by-side for several laps. Starr began to flex his muscle and battled with Miguel Paludo and Joey Coulter for several laps settling into 14th place.

He was able to pass Paludo on lap 120 for thirteenth and charged forward when he came upon a group of four trucks running hard for ninth to twelfth place including James Buescher, Ron Hornaday, Jason White and Coulter. David dove all the way onto the apron along the frontstretch going three-wide and passed three of the four in one lap emerging tenth on lap 128.

While Buescher and Matt Crafton battled for eighth in front of him, David closed the gap and cut hard to the inside below Crafton for ninth with ten laps to go and continued to attack the concrete track.

As Dillon took the white flag at the front of the pack, David caught Elliot Sadler and was able to maneuver around the No. 2 up to eighth at the checkers matching his best finish of the 2011 season and earning the team’s fifth top-ten of the year.

It was an impressive drive for Starr who moved up another position to thirteenth in the 2011 NCWTS drivers point standings after twelve of twenty-five races. He is twenty-three points out of tenth place as the trucks hit the halfway point in the season.

The NCWTS teams will travel to the hometown of SS Green Light Racing owner Ken Smith on Friday night July 29th for the AAA Insurance 200 at Lucas Raceway Park just west of Indianapolis. ASI Limited will be on the hood of the No. 81 Toyota.
