ASI Limited gives David Starr clear view of Indy

SS Green Light Racing driver David Starr has mixed emotions as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series reaches the halfway point of the 2011 season; Starr is excited about the team’s turnaround over the last few races, a surge that has propelled him seven places in the point standings but he is disappointed with the news that the AAA Insurance 200 on Friday night will be the last at one of his favorite tracks.

David will have another hometown sponsor for Friday Night’s AAA Insurance 200 as building enclosure specialist ASI Limited will adorn the hood of the No. 81 Toyota. Zachry will provide associate sponsorship on the SS Green Light Racing No. 81.

Recently, NASCAR announced that the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series would not return to Lucas Oil Raceway next year as part of the Brickyard 400 weekend bringing an end to seventeen straight years the truck series has run at the popular 5/8-mile track just west of Indianapolis known for it’s close and exciting racing.

“It’s a pretty bittersweet weekend for me,” Starr said. “Our Toyota Tundra has been pretty awesome lately with three straight top-ten finishes, so we have a lot of momentum and we are really looking forward to heading to Lucas Oil Raceway. It’s really cool because there is a lot of racing history and obviously these trucks put on a great show.”

“Jason Miller, my Crew Chief is from the Indianapolis area and our owner Ken Smith and his company ASI Limited is based right there in Indianapolis. We’re real excited because Ken will have a lot of ASI Limited employees, customers and guests at the track on Friday and we’re going to do our best to put on a good show for them.”

“What really hurts me is the recent announcement that this is going to be the last race for us at Lucas Oil Raceway is sad,” continued Starr. “I can’t imagine having the Brickyard 400 without having a truck race just down road there on Friday night so it’s a little bittersweet for me.”

“It’s always a great race and a fun race so I’m just looking forward to getting there, it’s just really cool to go to Indy. I’m just sad that this is going to be the last time.”

“I’m very encouraged with the recent string of solid runs and the momentum the team is building,” said Ken Smith, owner of SS Green Light Racing and president of ASI Limited. “We’re very excited to have the NCWTS come to our hometown track and we have an open house planned for customers and business partners. We’re looking forward to Friday night; it’s always one of the most exciting races of the season. Everyone at ASI Limited is excited about this week.”

David has completed 96.2% of the laps in the eleven previous NCWTS races at the Lucas Oil Raceway with a best finish of fourth in 2006. He has three top-tens including back to back ninth place finishes the last two races with an average starting position of 16.1 and an average finish of 15.9.

The AA Insurance 200 is the 258th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 278th career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 45 top-fives and 112 top-tens through his 14-year career.

There are 38 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the AAA Insurance 200.   Practice for the AAA Insurance 200 will be Friday July 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with qualifying at 4:40 p.m. The green flag will fall on the AAA Insurance 200 at 7:00 pm. It will be shown live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 128-XM104. All times Eastern.
