No. 62 Pilot Flying J Team Finishes Sixth on Sponsor’s Home Track

-Michael Annett Earns Mobil 1 Driver of the Race Award at Bristol Motor Speedway-

Bristol, Tenn. (August 27, 2011) – Michael Annett earned the Mobil 1 Driver of the Race award for his sixth place finish last night in Bristol Motor Speedway’s Food City 250 on the home track of his Knoxville, Tenn.-based sponsor, Pilot Flying J. Driving Rusty Wallace Racing’s No. 62 Pilot Flying J Toyota, Annett notched his sixth top-10 finish of the season, racking up his second Mobil 1 Driver of the Race award in 2011.

“We’re really excited to bring home another solid finish for Pilot Flying J. With their headquarters in Knoxville being so close, we had a big group of supporters and fans at the track there this weekend, and our No. 62 team was happy to give them a strong finish to show our appreciation for all they do for us,” said Annett, “My hardworking crew guys are to thank for this top-10. We didn’t start where we wanted to, and we went a lap down during the long green flag run. They got us right where we needed to be to get the Lucky Dog, and my crew chief Rick Viers had the perfect set-up for our No. 62 Pilot Flying J car to move us towards to front.”

The No. 62 Pilot Flying J Toyota was the third highest finishing Camry in Bristol Motor Speedway’s 250 lap event. Their sixth place finish was the sixth top-10 for Annett and Rusty Wallace Racing’s No. 62 team since Rick Viers was named crew chief before the Charlotte Motor Speedway race on May 28.

“We’re glad to be back on track with this top-10. We’ve got nine more races to go this season, and our goal is to keep this success going. I know we can. We’ve proved that with our six top-10’s, and we’re ready to keep this momentum going through the end of the season. Thank you to Michael and the whole No. 62 team for all of their hard work, and a special thanks to Pilot Flying J for making this possible. We’re looking forward to giving them nine more strong finishes this year,” said Viers.

Annett’s sixth place finish at Thunder Valley gave Rusty Wallace Racing their 12th top-10 of the 2011 season. Still 10th in the Nationwide Series championship point standings, Annett is only five points behind ninth place Brian Scott.

The 26th Nationwide Series race of 2011 kicks off on Saturday as the circuit makes its way to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Watch live coverage of the Great Clips 300 on ESPN2 beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 3.
