Roush Fenway Brings Multiple Series’ Points Leads to Charlotte
After an exceptionally strong performance at Kansas Speedway last weekend, Roush Fenway returns ‘home’ to Charlotte Motor Speedway, where the team will put its Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series points’ leads on the line at the 1.5-mile track where the organization boasts 18 career NASCAR victories.

In the Driver’s Seat
Headed down the final stretch of the season, Roush Fenway leads both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series point standings. Carl Edwards leads the Sprint Cup Chase by one point, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr., holds a 20-point lead in the Nationwide Series standings. In addition, the No. 60 NNS Ford trails the Nationwide owner’s points lead by only seven points. There are six races remaining in the 2011 Sprint Cup season and four in the NNS season.
Besting the ‘The Beast’ in ‘11
This season alone, Roush Fenway boasts wins at CMS in the Nationwide Series (Kenseth), the Sprint All-Star Showdown (Ragan) and the Sprint All-Star Challenge (Edwards).
At Charlotte
Overall Roush Fenway has won 18 times in NASCAR action, including seven times in Sprint Cup action. Three of Roush Fenway’s seventh Cup wins at CMS have come in the fall race and four in the famed 600.All-in-all RFR has led over 4,700 miles of racing action at Charlotte, including over 2,200 in the Sprint Cup Series. In the Cup Series alone, Roush Fenway boasts 39 top-five and 66 top-10 finishes and two poles at the ‘Beast of the Southeast.’
In the Nationwide Series at Charlotte
In 87 starts, Roush Fenway Racing has won 11 times in the Nationwide Series at Charlotte, the second most at any track. Roush Fenway Nationwide Fords have accumulated 30 top-five and 43 top-10 finishes, while running to a company-best 13 poles at the 1.5-mile track. Mark Martin earned Roush Fenway’s first Nationwide win at Charlotte in the fall of ‘93. He then went on to win three straight, fall ‘95 and a sweep in ‘96, followed by wins in the spring of ‘98 and ‘99. Matt Kenseth earned the team’s last win at Charlotte, winning the Nationwide Series race in the spring.
Chase Races at Charlotte
Roush Fenway has scored five top-five finishes and 10 top 10s in Chase action at CMS including the 2005 race when four of the five Chase eligible Roush Fenway cars finished top 10, including three in the top five. Roush Fenway Chase cars have also led 95 laps in those races, leading at least one lap in eight of the 18 events.
