Roush Fenway Advance – One Race Away from Championship History

With only one race remaining in the 2011 season, Roush Fenway Racing holds the points’ lead in both of NASCAR’s two major series and will look to make history this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway; becoming the only team in NASCAR history to win both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series’ titles in the same season, while bringing home the team’s historic 300th NASCAR win in the process.

Coming to Finish Line, Roush Fenway Leads Chase

With only one to go in the 2011 season, Roush Fenway continues to hold the top position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Carl Edwards leads the field by three points as the teams head down the final stretch of 2011. Matt Kenseth is currently sixth.

The Leader

With the finish line in sight, Roush Fenway leads both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series point standings. Carl Edwards leads the Sprint Cup Chase by three points. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., holds a 41-point lead in the Nationwide Series standings, and No. 60 NNS Ford trails the Nationwide owner’s points lead by a single point.

Counting Down to 300

Roush Fenway needs just one more victory to secure its 300th NASCAR win. The organization’s 299 NASCAR wins have been accumulated over the last 24 years. Trevor Bayne became the 17th Roush Fenway driver to win a NASCAR race for Roush Fenway. Roush Fenway scored its first NASCAR victory on Oct. 22, 1989 with Mark Martin at Rockingham Speedway.

Roush Fenway at Homestead

Roush Fenway has started 123 combined NASCAR races at Homestead, collecting 11 wins (7 Cup, 3 NNS, 1 CWTS), 43 top fives and 61 top 10s, while leading 1,588 laps.

Sprinting to the Finish – Homestead

Roush Fenway has started a total of 57 Sprint Cup races at Homestead-Miami, driving to seven wins, including last season with Edwards. The team has accumulated 19 top fives, 25 top 10s and three poles. In addition, Roush Fenway has led 971 laps in Cup action at Homestead, while turning over 22,000 miles.

Nationwide Effort at Homestead

Roush Fenway has won three times in the Nationwide Series, with the first win coming via Jeff Burton in 1998 and the last win coming in 2008 via Carl Edwards. Matt Kenseth won in 2006 in NNS as well. All-in-all, Roush Fenway has three wins, 18 top-fives, 25 top 10s and two poles in 37 NNS starts at Miami-Homestead.
