Kenseth on racing at Auto Club Speedway:

“Fontana has always has been a track that I really enjoy racing at but it has changed a lot the last few years. It seems like we used to have a better handle on it before it got really rough, the cracks got wide, it wore out and the groove moved up so much. It is a really fun track and really challenging because of the huge cracks in the corners you have to drive around combined with the seams in the pavement. In order to have a good car, you have to get through the corners faster than everybody else. Everyone thinks it is a big horsepower track because it is a two-mile track, but it gets so slick and there is not a lot of grip in the corners as the run goes on. You just need to really have your car balanced well and have that momentum through the corners.”

Crew chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Auto Club Speedway:

“Fontana is a place where Matt (Kenseth) and the Roush cars in general have done well at in the past.  We had a strong finish at Bristol last weekend, and our goal is to continue to run up front again this weekend.  Fontana is a wide track where horsepower and handling really come into play, along with aerodynamics since it’s a down-force track. It’s also a place where we’ve seen tire wear come into play during the weekend, so there really are a lot of factors you need to work on in order to have a successful race out there.”

FAST FACTS:

•        In 19 Cup starts at Fontana, Kenseth has completed 4,653 of 4,655 laps (99.9 percent) and led for 497

•        Kenseth has finished within the top ten in 10 of his last 12 starts at Auto Club Speedway

•        This weekend at Fontana, Kenseth will pilot the No. 17 Ford EcoBoost Fusion
