Jason White – No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford
Kroger 250
Jason White on Martinsville: “Martinsville is a special place for me since I am from the state of Virginia. We don’t race at Richmond anymore, so I guess you could say this is my home track. I have had mixed results there in the past but always seem to get around the tight track pretty well. Doug George (crew chief) and the guys at the shop have worked hard on our trucks since Daytona and I know our GunBroker.com Ford will unload strong. The key is to be patient during the race and keep your nose clean.”
Jason’s Past Performances at Martinsville: This will mark Jason’s 10th NCWTS start at the paperclip-shaped track of Martinsville Speedway. He has a career best finish of fourth back in the fall race of the 2010 season. In his previous nine starts, he has led a total of seven laps and completed 97.5 percent of laps attempted (2009 of 2060) with no DNF’s.
Jason’s Daytona Thoughts: “Wow, how fun was Daytona? We knew we had a good truck since it was the same one that took the pole at Daytona in 2010. Doug George and the guys made some minor improvements to the truck and we had a strong Roush Yates engine package under the hood of our No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford. I will be honest in saying we were a little disappointed in only qualifying eighth, as we all felt we had the truck for another pole run. But when the green flag flew, so did the truck. We could run just about anywhere with anyone and we found a home running that outside lane quite a bit. We had a shot to win it at the end but the chips just didn’t fall our way. Fortunately we have a good start to the season with a solid fifth place finish and we have used the time since Daytona to make our team and trucks even stronger, so I am really excited about getting to Martinsville and on with the rest of the season.”
BuckShot is Back: The GunBroker.com team will be bringing the truck they nicknamed “BuckShot” to Martinsville. In honor of the team’s sponsor – GunBroker.com, the GB Racing team uses gun and shooting themed names for most of their trucks – thus the name “BuckShot”. “BuckShot” last raced at Martinsville Speedway in the fall race of 2010 where Jason qualified seventh and raced to a fourth place finish. The team has worked hard to update the Ford and will go to nearby Caraway Speedway for some pre-Martinsville testing on Tuesday.
Free Time: “During this break, I have been focused on finishing what we started with the building of this team. While I would have loved to get back behind the wheel
sooner after that strong Daytona run, this break has given our team the time to finish putting the rest of the pieces in place for a strong 2012 season. We also were
able to do a little testing, which should pay dividends for us once we get back on the track. I did relax on the beach for a few days right after Daytona but other than
that, I have been hard at work with the guys on this team preparing for an exciting race season.”
