(MOORESVILLE, NC) April 9, 2012 – Jason Bowles and his MacDonald Motorsports team just keep getting stronger and stronger. Coming off a top-15 run at his home track in Fontana, CA, Jason and his American Majority No. 81 team are excited for more of the same this weekend at “The Great American Speedway” in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Jason on Texas…..“I’ve just been itching to get back in the race car these last two weekends. The only racing I’ve done is at the local go-kart track with my team and sponsors so I can’t wait to get back in the American Majority No. 81 Toyota. We’ve shown a lot of speed in the Camry thus far this year so I hope we can continue that and even get our first top-ten finish.”
MacDonald Motorsports at Texas…..In 11 career starts at Texas, MacDonald Motorsports has five career top-25 starts and four top-25 finishes. Last season was one of the most successful years at Texas for the team with Blake Koch qualifying 20th and 13th for the two races at the high speed 1.5 mile track. Reed Sorenson drove a second car for the team there in the fall registering a solid 16th place finish.
Toyota Speed…..In two races this season driving the new Toyota, Jason and the team have a lot to be excited about. In Las Vegas, they secured a top-10 starting position for MacDonald Motorsports for the first time since Elkhart Lake in 2010. The race in Fontana, CA proved it wasn’t a fluke with a 13th place qualifying effort and a 15th place finish. With a little luck on Jason’s side, Texas could prove to be the team’s first top-10 finish.
Five race wrap-up…..Following a tough Daytona with the motor letting go, the MacDonald Motorsports team has really rebounded. The best two results came at Fontana and Phoenix, with 15th and 19th place finishes respectively. Las Vegas could have definitely been another top-15 finish for Bowles until he ran into some minor gremlins during the race.
2012 Points Update…..Bowles has picked up 10 positions in the points since Daytona and now sits 18th in the 2012 Nationwide Series driver standings. The MacDonald Motorsports No. 81 currently sits 27th in the Owner’s standings, locking them into the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 this weekend. Just 19 points separate 18th through 31st in the Owners standings right now so a lot can change in just one race.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 from Texas Motor Speedway can be seen live on ESPN2 at 8:00PM EST. Check it out and be sure to cheer on Jason Bowles and the American Majority No. 81 Toyota.
