· Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brian Scott qualified 15th for Friday night’s 250 lap night race at Richmond International Raceway.
· The second caution of the night came out on lap 68. The No. 11Dollar General team made their first pit stop of the day for four tires, fuel and adjustments. The crew gained four positions on the stop, placing Scott eighth for the restart.
· Scott battled with a loose handling racecar during the next green flag run, but still managed to ride in 13th. The yellow was back out on lap 116, and the No. 11 Dollar General Camry returned to pit road for more adjustments.
· Another speedy stop put Scott two positions ahead on the outside row in 10th for the restart. Trying to pass on the outside, his DG Toyota made contact with the wall pushing him back to 17th.
· The remainder of the race was run under green flag conditions, and didn’t allow Scott to get back towards the front. The No. 11 Dollar General ended the night in 14th.
· Scott earned his third Featherlite Most Improved Driver award of the season for his finish at Richmond International Raceway.
· Next week, the Nationwide Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway for the Aaron’s 312 on Saturday, May 5.
Brian Scott’s Post Race Thoughts:
“We really wanted to give Dollar General a strong finish tonight at Richmond. In the first run, we drove up into the top-10. Our guys were on top of it on pit road! We had great pit stops all night, and we gained positions on every stop. Unfortunately, after the first run we continually got trapped in the outside groove and fell back into the pack. The 2012 season has been a frustrating one, but we’re not going to lose confidence. We’ll keep a positive outlook and head on to Talladega looking for a better performance. That’s really all we can do.”
