Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Hefty®/ Reynolds Wrap® Camry … This weekend, Eric McClure will compete with a brand new Superspeedway chassis during Saturday’s Aaron’s 312. This chassis was purchased during the off-season from Rusty Wallace Inc (RWI).

Track Stats… This event marks the Virginia driver’s 179th-career NNS start and his sixth at the 2.66-mile facility. In five starts McClure has completed 96.8% of the total laps and has been running at the end of every event. Last season, the team was involved in the notorious “Big One” that damaged 21 cars, but after makingrepairs, McClure was able to return to the track to finish the event in the 26th position.

McClure’s Newest Addition Makes First Trip to NASCAR race… Nearly two months after the birth of his youngest daughter, Merritt, McClure, for the first time this season, will get to spend the entire weekend with his family as they are making the journey to Talladega Superspeedway. A tradition that started five years ago when McClure’s first child was born will continue as the driver takes one of his daughters across the stage during driver introductions.

Eric McClure Quotes:

“I love Superspeedway racing. I love the speed, the big pack when drafting, and the competition. I also love how anything can happen and, in reality, this type of racing is the great equalizer, helping teams like ours. We were strong in Daytona, on-track to having a career day, until we were caught up in one of the big wrecks. I am hoping for a strong result this weekend.”
