Tony Stewart, Richard Childress Racing and Bass Pro Shops Pay Tribute to Conservation Work of NWTF

[media-credit id=4 align=”alignright” width=”185″][/media-credit]Springfield, MO—May 14, 2012–-The National Wild Turkey Federation’s flying turkey logo will appear this weekend on Stewart-Haas Racing’s Bass Pro Shops sponsored No. 14 Chevy driven by Tony Stewart in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Chevy Silverado driven by Ty Dillon in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Stewart will be going for a win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race on Saturday, May 19th at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dillon will be trying to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ North Carolina Education Lottery 200 race Friday, May 18th also at the speedway.

The salute to the NWTF is a part of the Conservation Fund’s “Racing for America’s Wildlife” program. The program is designed to engage the NASCAR community in conserving America’s hunting and fishing heritage through habitat protection, restoration, education, and outreach.

“We are very proud to partner with our good friends at Stewart-Haas Racing and Richard Childress Racing in this tribute to the NWTF and their work in conservation and education,” said Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. “All of us at Bass Pro Shops, SHR and RCR are happy to donate these special paint schemes as a tribute to this great conservation organization and their thousands of grassroots volunteers who are also NASCAR fans.”

The NWTF is the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation in North America. A nonprofit organizationdedicated to conserving the wild turkey and preserving our hunting heritage, the NWTF, its volunteers and partners have raised and spent more than $331 million to conserve nearly 16 million acres of habitat. Wild turkeys and hundreds of other species of upland wildlife, including quail, deer, grouse, pheasant and songbirds, benefit from this improved habitat.

Bass Pro Shops is a dedicated supporter of NWTF’s Women in the Outdoors, JAKES, and Wheelin’ Sportsmen outreach programs.

“Placing the NWTF logo on their car and truck, where it will be seen by millions of race fans across the country, is just one example of Bass Pro Shops’ commitment to the NWTF and conservation,” said George C. Thornton, NWTF CEO. “We are very excited about the opportunity and about continuing our partnership with Bass Pro Shops and Johnny Morris.”

In 2006, Johnny Morris was awarded the NWTF Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award for his dedication to conservation, as well as securing the future of hunting for others. Bass Pro Shops was honored by the NWTF with the 2005 Corporate Achievement Award for their dedication to conservation and the NWTF.
