Tommy Baldwin Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series Advance: Kentucky Speedway

Race: Feed the Children 300

NASCAR Nationwide Series: 15 of 33

Track: Kentucky Speedway

Track Length: 1.5 miles

Ryan Blaney will make his Kentucky Speedway debut in his third NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event this weekend. The 1.5-mile track will be the biggest track that the NNS rookie has driven on. Piloting the No. 36 SealWrap Repair Tape Chevrolet, Blaney looks to gain intermediate track experience in the 300-mile event.

TBR AT KENTUCKY – This weekend will mark TBR’s first NNS start at Kentucky Speedway. The team competed in last year’s event in the NSCS at the 1.5-mile track. This start will be the team’s fourth NNS start this season.

BLANEY’S KENTUCKY DEBUT – The Feed the Children 400 will be Blaney’s first start at Kentucky Speedway and a 1.5-mile racetrack. Prior to this weekend, the biggest track the North Carolina native competed on was Darlington Raceway, a 1.366-mile track.

FEED THE CHILDREN – Blaney will join fellow NNS racers and race sponsor Feed the Children, in partnership with Speedway Children’s Charities, at a food distribution on Thursday. HOPE for Gallatin County has pre-identified the 400 families who will each receive a 25-pound box of food and a box of personal care items. This year, Feed The Children and Speedway Children’s Charities will deliver an estimated 540,000 pounds of food and supplies to those in need on behalf of Kentucky Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. In all, Feed The Children’s distributions, in partnership with Speedway Children’s Charities, will reach 10,800 families. This is the second year NNS drivers have assisted with the distribution which takes place at 1:00 p.m. at Gallatin County High School.

CHASSIS NO. 503 – The TBR NNS team will bring chassis No. 503 to the track this weekend. This will be the third start for this chassis, which was purchased from RCR’s NNS fleet of Chevrolets. The 18-year-old racer drove the chassis in his NNS debut at Richmond International Raceway and Darlington Raceway. An Earnhardt-Childress Racing engine will power the No. 36 SealWrap Chevrolet.

SEALWRAP – SealWrap Repair Tape will back the young Blaney in all six of his NNS starts this season in addition to his NKNPS races. SealWrap Repair Tape is designed for use in automotive repair, plumbing and electrical. It fixes and protects leaks or penetration from environmental elements. Ryan Blaney Quotes: ON MAKING HIS KENTUCKY DEBUT – “I watched a lot of tape from Kentucky and talked to drivers about it, especially my dad. This is my first mile-and-a-half race, so I’m excited to see the difference going to a bigger track. I’ve been to a lot of races at the bigger tracks, so I am thrilled to finally see one from the driver’s seat. The guys put in a lot of work and time at the shop to get the car ready, and I think we will run well.”

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin formed Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) in 2009. Baldwin utilized a declining economy to open a NSCS team with a stringent budget. The team worked to build to full-time competition, and by the 2011 season, the team’s third season, TBR competed in every race and locked the No. 36 Chevrolet in the top-35 in NSCS Owner Points. Dave Blaney drove the No. 36 Chevrolet to TBR’s highest finish of third in the October 2011 event at Talladega Superspeedway. TBR also fielded a second car for select races in the past two seasons with multiple drivers.

Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the NSCS in 2012 with NASCAR veterans David Reutimann and Dave Blaney. The team will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Ryan Blaney, Bobby Santos and Ryan Truex.
