The Final Six: Traveling to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the third of four straight races on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule, championship contender Timothy Peters is ready to bounce back from two weeks of adversity in the Smith’s 350 on Saturday night. Slipping out of the top two positions to third place in the series championship point standings for the first time this season, Peters and his Red Horse Racing team are putting the previous races in the rear view and focusing on the final six races of the season.

Improving on his race performance and finishes every year since his first start at the 1.5-mile track in 2005, Peters led several laps in 2011 en route to a track personal best third place finish. With a similar setup for his No. 17 Toyota Tundra in mind, Peters is confident he will have another strong outing.

“We had a really good truck from the time we unloaded last year and we ran up front all day. It was encouraging because we had it together on an intermediate track. I like Vegas because it’s smooth and fast. Smooth in one aspect, but a little bumpy in another. We had a good package there last year so I’m looking forward to taking it back,” Peters said.

Red Horse Airborne: The Red Horse Racing crew will visit Nellis Air Force Base on Thursday afternoon before heading to the track for this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition. The visit will include a special meet and greet, along with demolition and heavy equipment demonstrations with the 820th Red Horse Airborne team that is based out of the Nellis Air Force Base.

Appearing in Las Vegas: Timothy Peters will be out and about in Las Vegas next weekend, providing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series fans several chances to meet the championship contender. Peters will join several of his fellow competitors, including teammate Todd Bodine, at the Riviera Casino & Hotel on Thursday night, September 27, at 6:30 PM for an autograph session. He will also participate in the series-wide autograph session on Friday, September 28 from 6-7:00 PM prior to qualifying at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Previous Race Recap: Taking home a top-five finish after a solid performance in June at Kentucky Speedway, championship contender Timothy Peters was hoping to recapture similar results at the Sparta, Kentucky track for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kentucky 201. After falling victim to misfortune one week ago and suffering only his second finish outside of the top-15 this season, Peters would suffer another blow short of halfway on Friday evening. Contact from another competitor sent Peters into the wall, causing damage that warranted an extensive collaboration by his Red Horse Racing crew to get the No. 17 Toyota Tundra back into competition. The hard work gained Peters four valuable points for the championship, landing him a 21st place finish.

Chassis History: Peters will pilot chassis number 065 this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This Toyota Tundra has seen competition twice this season; at Charlotte in May scoring a ninth place finish, and most recently at Pocono Raceway, where Peters ran within the top-three for most of the afternoon before going for a spin into the outside wall.

Timothy Peters on Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Is momentum on your side for Las Vegas since you’ve improved your finishes and laps led each year?

“If you look back at the last few races of this year it doesn’t seem like momentum is on our side, but we really have had a great year overall and looking at these last six races, we’ve had great luck at those tracks before. We’re going to use that to our advantage and persevere this weekend.”

What are your feelings about luck?

“I feel like you make your own, but you can follow any ritual you want. At the end of the day, I feel like I believe in some of that stuff because I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t. I try to balance it out; just everything has to be right. It doesn’t matter what you do sometimes, if it’s your year or your race, it’s going to go in your favor if it’s meant to.”
