Carl Edwards on racing at Dover International Speedway:

“I’ve been looking forward to Dover for a while now. That’s a great race track for all of our Roush Fenway Fords. I love the race track, it’s a grueling race, qualifying is exciting and difficult, pit stops are tough, it’s just a really challenging race track. I look forward to hopefully having some of the success we’ve had there in the past.”

Crew Chief Chad Norris on racing at Dover International Speedway:

“Carl really enjoys racing at Dover and we could certainly use a good run right now. This one-mile track is very different from the one-mile of New Hampshire where we raced last weekend. It’s a challenging track and the car can change quite a bit throughout 400 miles there, but Carl has a much better record at Dover with the banking and concrete surface.”

Fast Facts

CARL EDWARDS is currently 15th in the Sprint Cup points. To date he has two top fives, 11 top 10s and one pole this season.

FOR THE RECORD…In 16 starts at the one-mile track, Edwards has one win, seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. Edwards scored his only Cup win there in Sept. ’07. He has an average start of 15.0 and an average finish of 8.5.

LAPS…Edwards has led 532 laps at Dover and has completed 98.6 percent of his laps there (6317 of 6404 laps).

ON THE TRACK… The No. 99 Fastenal Blue Team will be unloading chassis RK-820 this weekend. This car was new at Indy where Edwards finished 29th after plug wire issues.

IN THE LOOP… According to NASCAR’s Loop Statistics compiled over the last 16 races at Dover, Edwards has turned 486 of the track’s fastest laps which is second highest, spent 4,382 laps (73%) in the top 15 (fourth highest) and led a total of 532 laps (third highest). Edwards’ driver rating (104.8) is third best among active drivers.

REWIND, DOVER, September 2011… Edwards was in a position to win until he incurred a pit road speeding penalty on a green-flag pit stop on lap 247 that put him a lap down. Never one to give up, he got the lucky dog award with 100 laps to go and fought back from 21st place to finish third.
