Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team brought home their fifth top-10 finish of the 2012 season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Gale raced a clean, hard race, avoiding several on-track incidents to come home in the seventh position.

Gale rolled off 12th in the Smith’s 350 on Saturday night. With several cautions early in the race, Gale utilized a series of restarts to pick up positions around the 1.5-mile oval and was racing in the eighth position by lap 15. By the lap 30 caution, the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet was handling well in turns one and two, but a little loose in turns three and four. Crew chief Jerry Baxter made the call for Gale to come down pit road on lap 32 for a two-tire stop allowing the Rheem Chevrolet to restart in the fifth position.

Gale continued to pick up positions and took over second-place by lap 38. As the sun set over Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the track cooled, the Rheem Chevrolet got loose in turns three and four. Gale began searching the track for a different line and started to find more grip on the speedway.

Another caution on lap 77 gave the Rheem team an opportunity to tighten up their Chevrolet with four fresh tires. With his truck tight, the Rheem team made their final stop of the day just 25 laps later for right-side tires. Gale maintained his position inside the top 10. By the time the checkered flag fell, the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet was scored in the seventh position.

“I had a lot of fun out there tonight,” commented Gale. “My Eddie Sharp Racing team did a great job building our Rheem Chevrolet-I really like this chassis. We didn’t qualify as well as I had hoped, but the guys did a great job adjusting our truck and we raced really well. I feel like our team is getting better week after week, and I’m really looking forward to finishing out the season strong with our Rheem Chevrolet.”
