Pop singer/songwriter and actress JoJo will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” prior to the AdvoCare 500 Semi-Final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, November 11.
“I’m so excited to be involved with NASCAR,” said JoJo. “I feel quite honored to have the opportunity to sing our Nation’s Anthem in front of such amazing and dedicated racing fans.”
The multi-platinum singer burst onto the music scene in 2004 with her debut single “Leave (Get Out)”, making her the youngest artist ever to reach number one on Top- 40 radio with her single, as well as the youngest solo artist to receive at MTV Video Music Award Nomination. Most recently JoJo has released “Disaster” and “Demonstrate” on iTunes in support of her forthcoming third studio album scheduled for a 2013 release.
Apart from her work in music, JoJo – who partnered with Niner Sports for her appearance at PIR – has earned success in her career as an actress. She made her first television acting debut in 2002 on The Bernie Mac Show. Her starring role in the Twentieth Century Fox film, Aquamarine, garnered JoJo multiple award nominations including a Teen Choice Award – Movies “Choice Breakout”. Her follow up Columbia Pictures film, RV, co-starring Robin Williams, Cheryl Hines, Josh Hutcherson, & Kristin Chenoweth opened at #1 in the Box Office during its first week of release. JoJo most recently wrapped filming her third film, G.B.F., scheduled for a 2013 release.
