Four Great Clips vehicles span the three-race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway… Great Clips, the longest-running sponsor in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), will have a HUGE presence at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend with at least one Great Clips Chevrolet competing in all three NASCAR races at the 1.5-mile track.

Up Next – The Great Clips 200 at Phoenix International Raceway… Following their big weekend in Texas, Great Clips will again have center stage as the NNS heads to Phoenix International Raceway for the Great Clips 200. Don’t miss the pre-race ceremony in which one of three lucky winners will drive away in their own brand new Chevrolet Camaro.

Previous experience at Texas Motor Speedway… This weekend will mark Sweet’s first time competing at Texas Motor Speedway, but the Grass Valley, Caif.-native has shown promise at tracks 1.5-miles or longer in length. His season-best finish came in his first start of 2012 at Auto Club Speedway, where he posted a sixth-place finish. In seven races at tracks 1.5-miles or longer, he has finished inside the top-20 in all but one and has two top-10 and four top-15 showings, with an average start of 18.1 and average finish of 14.8.

This Week’s Impala… The No. 38 team will unload chassis TMS-331 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Brad Sweet drove this chassis in races most recently at Kentucky Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, finishing 10th and 15th, respectively. Additionally, Kasey Kahne captured the inaugural NNS pole at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this tear in this same car.

Who’s on the pit box?… Trent Owens, who has led James Buescher and Nelson Piquet Jr. to NNS victories this season, serves as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team with drivers Kahne and Sweet. A former driver himself, Owens is a long-time fixture in the NASCAR garage. Over the years, the Darlington, S.C., native has been successful working with a variety of drivers with different levels of experience and has visited victory lane with both rookies and veterans alike including Buescher, Piquet. Jr., Mark Martin, Dave Blaney and Reed Sorenson.

Kahne and Sweet: a unique combination… Not only are Kahne and Sweet good friends off the track, but the veteran is serving as a mentor to Sweet as he makes the transition from open-wheel competition to stock cars. Sweet was handpicked by Kahne in 2008 to drive for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) where he has since experienced tremendous success in the World of Outlaws Series. Sweet will continue to compete on a limited basis for KKR when he is not behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips machine in the NNS. You can expect Kahne to be very involved and present in the NNS garage when Sweet is behind the wheel of the No. 38, as he will closely monitor his progress and offer encouragement.

Kahne brought Great Clips their first win! From 2003-2005, Kahne and his sponsor, Great Clips, Inc., reached momentous milestones, including capturing Kahne’s first Nationwide Series victory in 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also Great Clips’ first win as a primary sponsor. In 2005, Kahne captured his second career win at Texas Motor Speedway before leaving the Nationwide Series to allow more time for his Sprint Cup Series efforts.

Great Clips goes racing with the World of Outlaws in 2012! Great Clips also serves as primary sponsor for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) driver Joey Saldana in the World of Outlaws season. The Minneapolis-based company has been a sponsor of KKR for the past two seasons. This year, they are featured on all three KKR entries – as a primary sponsor on the #9 with Saldana as well as associate sponsor placement on Brad Sweet’s #49 and Cody Darrah’s #5 World of Outlaws cars.

12 Years and Counting… Great Clips, Inc. is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NNS and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years. Their sponsorship began in 2000 with Akins Motorsports as they climbed on board to sponsor the team’s No. 38 entry with driver, Christian Elder. Mark Green piloted the No. 38 for one season before general manager, Doug Stringer, hired up-and-coming talent, Kasey Kahne, thereby solidifying Great Clips’ commitment to their NASCAR sponsorship.

Sweet on racing at Texas Motor Speedway

“This is such a big weekend for Great Clips and I’m excited to be a part of it! We have slowly improved at these 1.5-mile tracks this season and I feel like we just get better each time. My comfort level on tracks this size is definitely growing and I think it shows in our performance. I look forward to having Ryan (Newman) as a teammate this weekend. Anytime you have that caliber of driver to lean on as a teammate, its beneficial for the whole organization. Its gonna be a great weekend!”

No. 31 BRANDT/WinField Chevrolet News and Notes

The Final Three- Allgaier’s Comeback Tour – The BRANDT Racing team felt secure in their chances of finishing the season in the top-five as they rounded the corner towards Championship Weekend in Homestead. Unfortunately, two incidents at Dover and Charlotte knocked the team back a spot in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings to sixth. Two weekends ago in Kansas however, Justin Allgaier and his team began their climb back in the point standings with a seventh-place finish, gaining them two points. Allgaier now sits just 12 points behind fifth-place and looks to gain more this weekend in Texas.

Welcome Aboard WinField Solutions – The No. 31 Chevy will boast a new look in Texas as BRANDT welcomes new partner WinField Solutions to the Ag Car. The Minnesota-based company offers top-performing seed and crop protection products. With unmatched agricultural expertise and performance as core company values, WinField Solutions brands match leading seed and crop protection products to help growers, dealers and other industry partners achieve the highest level of success. Their brands include CROPLAN GENETICS® seed, AgriSolutions™ crop protection products, plant nutrients and other proprietary products. The WinField Solutions paint scheme will be featured at the season-ending Homestead-Miami race as well.

Allgaier at Texas Motor Speedway – Allgaier will make his ninth start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. In eight previous starts, he owns three top-10 finishes with an average start of 15.0 and an average finish of 13.4. In the spring race at Texas, Allgaier finished seventh after starting 16th.

Watch Us Grow – Last week, BRANDT broke ground for a major building expansion project at its global headquarters in Springfield, Ill. The fifteen month project which began on October 16th, will expand the current building by 22,000 square feet in an attempt to meet the current and future demands of the company. Aggressive growth, commitment to the future of the company and the industries they serve are the driving forces behind BRANDT’s expansion.

Home Track Advantage – Both the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) and Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) teams will be at the home track of Turner Motorsports this weekend, making starts at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. The multi-series team continues to have a banner year, earning multiple wins in both the NNS and NCWTS. In 2012, across both series, owner Steve Turner boasts 10 wins, 29 top-fives, 73 top-10s and six pole awards in 153 starts. James Buescher, NCWTS regular and current points leader, notched the team’s first pole award at Texas Motor Speedway back in 2010.

This Week’s Impala – This weekend, Allgaier will drive TMS-324 in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. This car has been a workhorse for the BRANDT team, being used at both Chicagoland races (third and 11th), as well as Michigan International Speedway (14th), Texas Motor Speedway (seventh) and Auto Club Speedway (32nd).

Allgaier on returning to Texas and racing under the lights:

“I really enjoy racing at Texas and I think it will be even better this weekend having our race under the lights. It’s been a while since we’ve had a night race there and I’m sure it will add an extra element of excitement for the fans. We have three races left and 12 points to make up to get back into the fifth spot in the championship points battle. I definitely think that’s something we can do on this BRANDT team. We are continuing to make strides in our mile-and-a-half program and I’m just excited about what we can do in Texas this weekend to show that. Jimmy (Elledge, crew chief) and the guys will have a fast car ready for me and I just want to bring home a good finish for them and our new partner WinField Solutions.”

Previous Race Recap…James Buescher was behind the wheel of the No.30 Great Clips Chevy at Kansas Speedway when a disappointing qualifying effort left the Turner Motorsports team clawing their way up to contention. While running fourth on the restart on lap 141, Buescher radioed to the crew “I think we are blowing up.” Buescher would eventually retire to the garage and from the event with a disappointing 28th place finish.

This Week’s Impala… The No.30 Great Clips team will bring chassis TMS-332 to Texas Motor Speedway for this Saturday evenings race. TMS-332 was a brand new chassis for Turner Motorsports heading into the Atlanta race Labor Day weekend. The second race on this chassis resulted in a top-10 finishing position for Buescher at Charlotte Motor Speedway just a couple weeks ago.

Newman on this weekend’s NNS race at Texas

“I’m excited that I got a call from Steve Turner and Turner Motorsports giving me another opportunity to get back behind the wheel of their No.30 Great Clips Chevy Impala this coming weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. They have a great group of people over there so anytime I am able to run one of their cars, I jump on the opportunity. Last time I ran their car we had a solid top-five finish at Phoenix. This is also a big weekend for Great Clips having four vehicles in the three races spanning the Texas race weekend and I’m happy to be a part if it. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can learn to help me on Sunday but also try to deliver these guys another win in the process.”
