FORD TEXAS NOTES
· Jack Roush leads all car owners in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins at Texas Motor Speedway with nine. The next closest are Joe Gibbs and Rick Hendrick with three apiece.
· Ford Racing leads all manufacturers with 11 wins at Texas Motor Speedway, compared to seven for Chevrolet, three for Dodge and two for Toyota.
· Carl Edwards leads the current roster of Ford drivers with three wins at TMS, including a season sweep in 2008.
· Greg Biffle, who won at the track earlier this year, and Matt Kenseth have two victories each.
· Texas Motor Speedway was the site of David Ragan’s first NSCS pole when he took the top spot in the 2011 Spring race.
Trevor Bayne returns to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, a spot that holds a special place in the driver’s heart. It is the site of his Sprint Cup debut with the Wood Brothers in 2010 and the site of his first Nationwide Series race a year later. It is also a spot he has a habit of finishing 17th. Bayne, who qualified seventh for Sunday’s race, spoke to Ford Racing prior to the first practice session Saturday afternoon.

THIS PLACE MUST BE SPECIAL FOR YOU. “Not only did we get our first Cup start here but our first Nationwide win here this time last year also. It seems like the fall of every season at Texas something big happens. I don’t know what is going to happen this time but I wouldn’t mind holding some revolvers and having a new cowboy hat by the end of the weekend.”
WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH YOU FINISHING 17TH THREE DIFFERENT TIMES HERE? “Last time, that was our worst run, I thought I was over the three-times 17 deal and was ready to change that but we changed it for the worse. This time we have to change it for the better. I would love to have a top-10 run here this weekend. It would be big for our team. Big things happen in Texas for us. It was our first Cup start and first Nationwide when and I would love to back it up with a Cup win here tomorrow.”
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT RACING TO BE LIKE TOMORROW? “I love these kind of tracks where you slip and slide around. This place seems more like Atlanta every time we come here. The asphalt just falls off from the tires every run when you go back out and it is getting rougher and rougher. That is my style of race track. I like when you have to move around and find the grip from the top to the bottom. Hopefully we can figure that out. We didn’t have the best run at Atlanta this year so hopefully it isn’t that far into it. I think we have a really solid race car and we will just have to work on it all day like everyone else with the weather changing as the day goes on. The track is driving different already and we just have to keep up with it.”
WHAT KIND OF MOMENTUM CAN YOU BUILD FOR NEXT YEAR OVER THESE LAST FEW WEEKS? “For next season and the Cup program I think we can build some momentum but for Nationwide it is hard because I am not out there with those guys. I can go sit on the box and listen to Mike Kelley and how he works with Stenhouse and that team can build their confidence in my by watching me run here. If I am running well that transfers right over. I need to get as much experience as I can this season and try to carry that over to next year.”
