FLORIDA’S OWN LAGASSE JR READIES FOR HOMESTEAD-MIAMI RACE AND INCREASED 2013 EFFORT

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November12, 2012) Hybridlight and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) return for their third and final race of the season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway with driver Scott Lagasse Jr. before embarking on no less than a 15-race schedule in 2013.

Driving the No. 8 Team SLR Chevrolet, Lagasse Jr. will have the benefit of having Daytona 500 winning crew chief Tommy Baldwin serve as his crew chief in his second Nationwide Series race at the south Florida track. Lagasse Jr. and Team SLR have established an alliance with Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) to assist with the transition into the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

“Brad Parrot who has served as our crew chief for our first two races in Kentucky and Kansas City will move over to help John Blankenship this weekend,” said Lagasse Jr. “So I’m excited to have Tommy on the box and calling the shots for this race.

“The guys in the shop have been working really hard to get two cars ready and I’m excited to get down to Homestead.”

The Florida native will finish this season in his home state and begin next season even closer to his St. Augustine home when he enters the season-opening Nationwide Series race in Daytona in February.

“It’s always nice to race in my home state in front of my friends, family and fans,” said Lagasse Jr. “But in addition, our primary sponsor Hybridlight has provided Team SLR the opportunity to promote the long-term strategic alliance we have with the Boy Scouts of America to millions of loyal NASCAR fans.

“This also allows us to bring national attention to all the great things the Boy Scouts of America provide to their communities. I’m really looking forward to meeting the Scouts from the South Florida Council and showing them a great time at the track.

As he did in conjunction with the Nationwide Series race at Kansas City, Lagasse Jr. will be busy once again before practice on Friday morning driving one lucky Cub Scout to local Campbell Drive Elementary School in an actual Hybridlight race-ready car with all the pomp and circumstance of a police escort.

“We are having a blast driving a Cub Scout to school,” said Lagasse Jr. “I don’t know who is having more fun — me, the parents, the police officers, the Cub Scout or his classmates? Everyone is always grinning from ear to ear and the Cub Scout is the “big man on campus” for the day.”
