Homestead a Homecoming for Ross Chastain

MOORESVILLE, NC – November 13, 2012 – Ross Chastain is looking forward to Friday night’s season ending Ford EcoBoost 200, not because the 2012 campaign is complete but rather to celebrate his rookie year driving the SS Green Light Racing Toyota in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

The Florida teen will be racing in front of dozens of family, friends and supporters, as the Chastain’s family farm is just several hours from the Homestead-Miami Speedway. “I’m really happy to have a local sponsor; Custom Cooling and Heating step up to help us this weekend.”

“We’ll have a couple hundred guests coming Friday from the Watermelon Associations and Promotion Board and people from our new sponsor this week Custom Cooling and Heating along with Ft. Meyers Marine who will be an associate,” said Chastain. “We also have some new people coming to the track to see what it’s all about and we want to give all of them something to be excited about.”

The Ford EcoBoost 200 will be Ross’ second start at the South Florida track finishing 27th in last season’s finale. “Homestead is a technical track; that is the best I can describe it. It’s tough, my first time last year was only my third run on a mile and a half and it took me quite a bit of time to get used to and find some speed,” Chastain explained. “If the truck is not handling you can’t overcome it; maybe for a few laps but not on the long runs. Our goal is to run up in the top-ten we’ll see how it all shakes out.”

“Saturday night my little brother Chad is racing at Punta Gorda,” Ross said. “He’s running in the Fastrucks which is where I got started so that will be cool to go see him race.”

“We’ve really done a lot with a little this year,” Chastain concluded. “We didn’t have the funding or resources that you really want, but looking back I’m very happy with it and want to thank everyone who has been a part of it. We had some mechanical failures in the beginning of the year and that set the tone for a while, but we haven’t had any since. We had three top-tens and a top-five and I’m proud of how good we ran at times. We just want to finish strong and build for next year; what ever next year brings.”

The Ford EcoBoost 200 is the 292nd consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the twenty-seventh career start for Chastain in the Truck Series. Ross is seventeenth in the NCWTS point standings and has three top-ten finishes in sixteen starts 2012 including a career best third at Bristol on August 22nd.

There are 38 trucks on the entry list for the season ending Ford EcoBoost 200, which will prelude the NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford EcoBoost 400 and Nationwide Ford EcoBoost 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jeff Agnew will pilot the Wear Your Gear/bobber.info Silverado for SS Green Light Racing Friday night.

Practice for the Ford EcoBoost 200 will be Friday November 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by two laps of qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The green flag will fly in the Ford EcoBoost 200 at 8:00 p.m. All times Eastern. The race will be shown live on SPEED TV and will also be broadcast live via on the Motor Racing Network and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 128-XM104.
