DEARBORN, MI, (Jan. 18, 2013) – The streets of Uptown Charlotte come to life on a daily basis, but on Thursday, Jan. 24 they will roar like never before when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars from Ford Racing drive their 2013 NASCAR Fusion stock cars through the city streets as part of the annual Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour.

Ford Racing, the NASCAR Hall of Fame and City of Charlotte have worked together and coordinated a route that will take the cars through the heart of Uptown.

The street drive is scheduled to start in front of the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Caldwell Street at 11:15 a.m. and then turn right onto Stonewall.  From there, the route will turn right onto Tryon Street and then right onto Fifth Street, where it will go past Time Warner Cable Arena.  The parade will then turn right onto Caldwell Street before ending at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

“We’re extremely grateful to our friends at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and city officials in Charlotte who have helped in making this event possible,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing.  “Our 2013 NASCAR Fusion is something we’re extremely proud of because it looks so much like the cars we drive on the street.  Now we’re going to literally be able to see that happen when our NASCAR Fusions take to the streets of Uptown Charlotte.”

Ford Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series lineup includes current champion Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano from Penske Racing; Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Roush Fenway Racing; former Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne from Wood Brothers Racing; Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola of Richard Petty Motorsports; David Ragan and David Gilliland from Front Row Motorsports; and Casey Mears of Germain Racing.

The parade will conclude at the NASCAR Ceremonial Plaza outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Brevard Street, where a photo opportunity will take place for members of the media.

“This parade through the streets of Uptown is a high energy representation of the prestige and passion that Ford Racing brings to the sport and a sneak peek at what we can anticipate in 2013,” says NASCAR Hall of Fame Executive Director Winston Kelley. “Seeing these Sprint Cup Series stars debut their new 2013 NASCAR Fusions is a fitting honor for the NASCAR Hall of Fame that enhances our mission in showcasing and connecting the past, present and future of NASCAR with fans no matter their age or level of interest and knowledge.”
