What is Denny Hamlin’s favorite good luck charm?
How many M&Ms does Kyle Busch eat in a year?
What is Tony Stewart’s favorite track?
Fans with a ticket to the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown presented by FedEx can ask questions such as these at the Q&A session. The event will take place in the amphitheater at Richmond International Raceway at 4:45 p.m. on April 25, 2013.
Larry McReynolds, Race Analyst for Fox Sports, will Emcee the Q&A session.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I’ve attended this race in the past, and it has always had great racing. My son, Brandon, ran in two of the events. In 2010 at Southside Speedway he finished 5th, and in his first time at Richmond in 2011 he qualified on the outside front row.”
In addition, fans can submit questions through Monday, April 20th, via Twitter to @DHFoundation. Drivers joining Hamlin include Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Michael Waltrip.
“The Q&A session is one of my favorite parts of the Showdown,” said Denny Hamlin, driver of the #11 FedEx Toyota in the Sprint Cup Series. “You never know what will happen.”
Last year, a fan wore a t-shirt with Denny’s high school picture printed on the front. “And, of course, Tony Stewart noticed,” Hamlin laughed.
When responding to another fan’s question, Stewart interrupted himself and asked, “What I want to know is if that is Denny Hamlin’s prom picture.”
And the event took off from there.
Jeff Burton immediately jumped off of his chair to tweet a live picture.
Hamlin responded, “There’s a story behind that picture.”
“I really liked this girl and asked her to the prom, and she said yes,” Hamlin recalled. “What I didn’t know is that she said yes because she really wanted to go with my friend.” They went to the dance, and she immediately went to his friend, leaving Hamlin to fend for himself.
The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown is the main event sponsored by the Denny Hamlin Foundation. It will be held on April 25th at Richmond International Raceway where top local drivers compete against Nationwide and Sprint Cup NASCAR drivers.
Proceeds from this race will go towards the grant to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU as well as other charities the Foundation supports. Tickets and donation information can be found at www.dennyhamlinfoundation.org.
