Hathaway Rocks NASCAR Season Opener

Bowmanville, Ontario– Jason Hathaway and his T3R/ EHR race team posted an awesome 3rd place finish at the first race of the 2013 NCTS season the Vortex Brake Pads 200 this afternoon. It was also a historic day trackside as the entire race was broadcast live across the country on CTV showcasing the series and the high level of competition.

After qualifying 11th, the team focused on their strategy for 51 lap event.  Hathaway’s #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge was quick off the trailer and by lap 5 Hathaway was up to the 10th spot in the running order.

Crew Chief Craig Maters brought Hathaway’s race machine down pit road on the first full course caution for a four tire pit stop and fuel. When the green flag flew after his pit stop, Hathaway was ready to make his way back up from his 14th place re start position. With some great driving and perseverance, Hathaway was up to the 5th spot by lap 20.

By the half way point Hathaway had earned 3rd place in the running order and held his own there, logging some fast lap times. On lap 31, the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge race machine moved into 2nd and defended his position for the 2 subsequent restarts.

With only 6 laps to do, Hathaway was passed for 2nd, but put some distance between him and the 4th place competitor to finish a strong 3rd.

“We are really proud of our team today. We worked hard on our road course program this winter and we think it showed here at the first race. We ran up front most of the day and got some great live television for our sponsors and our fans. This is a great way to start our season off and our guys did a great job!”

The Team will have three weeks off to test and prepare for the first oval race of the season and Hathaway’s home track at Delaware Speedway on June 15th.
