MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 22, 2013) – Wauters Motorsports announced today that they have teamed with Jason Bowles and Valvoline Premium Blue for the inaugural running of the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway – the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on dirt – on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
“This is a really exciting opportunity to be able to run the first Camping World Truck race at Eldora Speedway,” said Bowles, who will pilot the No. 5 Valvoline Premium Blue Chevrolet Silverado. “I’m grateful for Valvoline partnering with us. I can’t thank Richie and all the guys at Wauters Motorsports enough for their hard work in putting this together. I am looking forward to Wednesday night.”
Bowles finished 13th in the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings and, this season, became a test driver for Michael Waltrip Racing. He practiced and qualified MWR’s No. 55 entry in June at Sonoma Raceway. He is a champion and 10-race winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West division.

The Wauters Motorsports No. 5 missed the cut to be guaranteed a spot in the Mudsummer Classic last week after suffering a flat tire late in the race at Iowa Speedway two weeks ago. Bowles must qualify into the race in a qualifying format foreign to NASCAR’s premier divisions.
The race format will deviate from the typical NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, featuring a traditional two-lap qualifying session, five qualifying races, one last-chance race and a champion’s provisional to determine the 30-truck starting field. The top 20 in owner points entering the race will have a guaranteed starting position.
SPEED will broadcast live televised coverage of practice for the Mudsummer Classic on Tuesday, July 23 at 7 pm Eastern, with qualifying beginning at 7 pm Eastern on Wednesday, July 24. Broadcast coverage will take place on SPEED, Motor Racing Network Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90 at 9 pm Eastern on Wednesday.
