David Gravel Continues to Recover from Illness; Will Miss this Weekend’s Races in Edmonton

WATERTOWN, Conn.—August 23, 2013— David Gravel continues to recover from a case of mononucleosis and a double ear infection and will sit out this weekend’s Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. The native of Watertown, Conn., will return to action with the series once he is cleared by doctors.

Gravel is the leading contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and has won twice this season with the series. The 21-year-old was victorious on the opening night of the FVP Knoxville Nationals at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, earlier this month and also scored a win at I-94 Speedway in Minnesota in May.
