Speedweeks Recap

Roush Fenway flexed plenty of muscle during Daytona Speedweeks. Both Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle led laps and contended to win the Daytona 500, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr. marched to a top-seven finish. Trevor Bayne was a major player in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race, pushing the race winner to the front and finishing third in a dramatic run to the checkered flag.

RFR in PHX

Roush Fenway has started 227 combined NASCAR races at PIR, collecting 17 wins (7 NSCS, 8 NNS, 2 CWTS), 73 top- fives, 121 top 10s and nine poles, while leading 3,983 laps.

Winning in the Valley

Roush Fenway has won at Phoenix in all three of NASCAR’s major divisions, with the organization’s first win coming in the fall of 1993. RFR won the second-ever NNS race at PIR in 2000, and the organization has won four of the last seven NNS events at PIR. In addition, Greg Biffle claimed RFR’s 100th overall Nationwide win at Phoenix in 2009 and Carl Edwards won there that fall to give RFR the sweep. All in all, six drivers have won NASCAR races for RFR at PIR. In addition, Edwards swept Phoenix in the fall of 2010, winning both the NNS and NSCS events.

Sprint Cup Effort at PIR

Roush Fenway has started 130 Sprint Cup races at Phoenix, while finishing inside the top 10 with almost 50 percent of the entries (55). In addition, RFR cars have led 2,289 laps (including 197 last season) and driven to victory lane seven times; including Edward’s win last season.

Nationwide Effort at PIR

Phoenix is one of the strongest tracks for RFR’s Nationwide program. In 67 starts, RFR has won eight times, while finishing inside the top five almost half of the time (26) and inside the top 10 an impressive 71 percent of the time (46), while leading 1,403 laps. RFR has won four of the last 10 NNS events at PIR.

Last Season at PHX

Carl Edwards led 122 laps en route to his second Sprint Cup win at PIR last spring. He led 36 laps in the fall and came up just short on fuel in the effort to sweep PIR last season. In addition, Greg Biffle led 36 laps last spring at PIR.

Walgreens’ “Race Around America” Kicks Into Full Gear

Walgreens and Roush Fenway Racing have launched a partnership to stage “The Walgreens Race Around America Interactive Promotion Presented by Balance™ Financial.” The multi-faceted campaign is fueled by fan interaction, and will culminate with awarding as the grand prize — the fully enhanced ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang used in the promotion by RFR drivers. Throughout the promotion, Roush Fenway Racing drivers Greg Biffle, Ryan Reed, Trevor Bayne and Chris Buescher will drive the Mustang from a concluding NASCAR race city to the next, making pit stops to meet with fans along the way.  Webisodes from the drivers’ journeys will be produced, and can be viewed on Walgreens.com/RaceAroundAmerica. Fans can visit the site to vote on the driver’s routes, upgrades to the Mustang and various challenges along the way.

2014 Roush Fenway Lineup

Roush Fenway Racing will field six NASCAR teams in 2014. Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will make up the RFR Sprint Cup lineup, while Trevor Bayne will anchor rookies Chris Buescher and Ryan Reed in the Nationwide Series.

Dueling Rookies

Buescher and Reed will battle it out this season for what would be RFR’s NASCAR record extending 14th rookie of the year award. Stenhouse brought home RFR’s 13th award last season, taking NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie of the year honors. Five different RFR drivers have won the rookie award in the Nationwide Series, including all three of RFR’s current Sprint Cup drivers.
