Bayne Records Ninth Top-10 Finish of 2014 in Charlotte

CONCORD, N.C. (May 24, 2014) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang recorded his third-consecutive top-10 finish and ninth overall in the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season on Saturday afternoon at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, crossing the finish line for the final time in eighth position.

“Today was a good day for us,” said Bayne after the race. “We had a strong car on the short-runs, which allowed us to really make some moves and gain some spots on the restarts. Overall, I’m happy to come home eighth with this No.6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang and I want to thank Chad and everyone for all of the work they did this weekend. We’re happy to be running as consistent as we are and I’m excited to get to the track again next weekend in Dover.”

Bayne began the 300-mile NNS event from the 16th position and steadily began to make his way towards the front. Despite battling a tight condition early, Bayne was able to get the No.6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang into the top 10 for the first time following a Lap 23 caution.

Bayne maintained his position inside the top 10 until crew chief Chad Norris called Bayne to pit road for four tires and adjustments during the first round of green flag pit stops on Lap 79. After returning to the track in ninth position, Bayne was able to utilize a Lap 91 restart and a three-wide maneuver to move up to sixth.

The driver of the No.6 Ford continued to run inside the top 10 throughout the ensuing green flag run, swapping positions back and forth with NNS championship leader Regan Smith. A Lap 169 caution for debris allowed Bayne to pit for the final time for four tires and adjustments. After battling for position in the closing laps, Bayne was able to hold off Roush Fenway Racing teammate Chris Buescher to come home with an eighth-place finish. With the result, Bayne improves to fourth in the championship standings and trails leader Smith by 35 points.
