Contact Costs Ranger at Chaudiere

June 15, 2014. Vallee Jonction, Quebec. Andrew Ranger was excited to participate in the inaugural event for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at the Autodrome Chaudière this past weekend. Ranger battled hard to put the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge in position for a solid result but late contact would dampen their results.

The 300 lap race was scheduled to run Saturday evening under the lights but persistent rain showers pushed the on track action to Sunday afternoon. During the practice sessions Ranger posted quick times in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge.

After qualifying with the eighth quickest time for the 300 lap event Ranger was quickly on the move in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge working both the inside and outside groove of the quarter mile race track.

Without a traditional pit road at the track NASCAR mandated a yellow flag period at the midway point of the race and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team went to work to improve the car.

“My crew chief Bill Burns and the team made some adjustments and it helped make the car a little better in the second half,” said Ranger.

As the race laps wound down Ranger was in position for a solid top five result and pushing hard for every position.

Contact late in the race however would cause significant damage to the right front suspension and relegate Ranger to a 12th place result in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge.

“It’s very frustrating” explained the driver. “We found some speed in the car and I was in a position for a good result and not to get that finish is upsetting. But I have to thank the guys for working so hard on the car and I’m already looking forward to the next race at ICAR.”

Round Number three of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series takes place Sunday July 6 at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec.
