Admiraal Racing Partners with the Alberta Cancer Foundation

EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA (June 30, 2014) Cancer has touched nearly every person in some way. And while new treatments and technology have greatly reduced the number of deaths in recent years (20% decline since 2001), there is still much to be done to save those currently afflicted with this devastating disease.

One Edmonton family has a new mission after losing a close friend in the past week.Ian Admiraal experienced one of those life-changing revelations when long-time friend and valued support member of Admiraal’s race team – Brenda McKinlay, lost her battle with cancer. McKinlay spent her final hours surrounded by family and friends with support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

“Losing Brenda was devastating,” Admiraal confessed. “I want to honor her memory and continue to create awareness, discuss prevention, and seek new cures. We have a race team and the mechanism to get the message out to a national audience. I know this would make Brenda happy.”

The team will partner with NASCAR champion and Canadian hero DJ Kennington at upcoming NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events in Edmonton July 11 and Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon July 16. The team will highlight the Alberta Cancer Foundation on the race cars and through public appearance events leading up to both races.

“We have put a plan together to celebrate Brenda’s life and engage our fans about the facts of cancer and how close to home this disease comes.”

Admiraal Racing is owned by father/son duo of Menno Admiraal, (a successful business entrepreneur and owner of Western Camp Services Ltd. based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and by Ian Admiraal, Co-Owner/Director of Race Operations.
