INNISFIL, ON- Third-generation driver Branden Bullen continued his upward movement through the perennially competitive OSCAAR Modified Tour this weekend, earning a top-10 finish in Night 1 of the twin-bill at Sunset Speedway.
“We had a good car all weekend, it felt good to be back racing after almost a month off”, said Bullen post-race. “Dad [former OSCAAR Super Late Model competitor Phil Bullen] went through this car from front to back since our last race at Kawartha”
The Bond Head, ON driver followed up his 7th place finish on Night 1 of competition, with a 13th place result on Night 2, after grappling with an ill-handling race car.
“We were a bit loose throughout Night 2”, admitted ‘The Bond Head Bandit’, “I was just concerned with bringing the car home in one piece. We’ll definitely take a top-15 finish, considering how badly the car just didn’t seem to want to work for me”
Bullen’s 7th place finish was his second top-10 in four starts, after earning another 7th place result in the 2014 season opener – also at Sunset – in May.
“Sunset is definitely our strongest track”, explained Bullen. “It’s where I started racing a stock car, and it’s where I feel most comfortable”
“We have a couple of races out on the road now, which will give us a chance to work on our program away from Sunset”
The Knightworks Designs No. 67 will next see action at Kawartha Speedway on July 13th.
“Kawartha is a lot different from what we’re used to, but we had a great run there in June”, said Bullen. “It’s one of the fastest tracks we visit all season, and things happen in a hurry there, so you have to be up on the wheel”
