“I’m excited about going to Watkins Glen, but those rookie stripes on the back of our No. 43 Ford are definitely well deserved on the road courses. We were really good at Road America until it rained, and that’s mostly on me. I’ve never raced on rain tires or in the rain before so that was something I just wasn’t used to. Based on how well the car was at Road America, I’m pretty confident going into Watkins Glen that we can get a solid finish. I was able to take some laps around the track a few weeks ago, and I’ve done a lot of laps on the simulator. Another bonus for the weekend is Marcos (Ambrose) will be running the Nationwide race, so it’ll be really beneficial to have him around and running the same car. I’ll definitely be leaning on him for advice throughout the weekend. As good as I felt we were at Road America, road courses are challenging, so while I think we’ll have a good weekend, I’m ready to work hard.”
