ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Mid-Ohio

·         Trevor Bayne makes his second NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday afternoon. Bayne finished ninth in his first start at the 2.4-mile road course on August 17, 2013.

·         In 11 career starts on road courses in the NNS, Bayne has recorded five top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 18.3.

·         According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Bayne ranks first in positions gained in the final 10 percent of a race with 18. The driver of the No.6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang also ranks third in green flag passes (71), fifth in quality passes made (18) and seventh in average running position (18.15) and in laps run in the top 15 (40).

·         Bayne will also be behind the wheel of the No.21 Motorcraft / Quick Lane Ford Fusion for the Wood Brothers on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Michigan International Speedway. In seven previous NSCS starts at Michigan, Bayne has completed 86.1 percent (1,209 out of 1,404) of the laps at the two-mile oval.

·         Bayne earned his best finish of 15th at Michigan International Speedway in the NSCS event on June 16, 2013 and finished 19th in the June 2014 event.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Patient Champion

·         Trevor Bayne will have a special guest on the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200. Five-year-old Blake Hames, of Westerville, OH, will have his face on the hood and his name on the passenger side door of the No. 6 Ford as part of Nationwide Children’s Hospital Patient Champion Program.

·         At 10 months old, Hames’ parents discovered a lump on his neck that was ultimately determined to be neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that affects the central nervous system. After several rounds of chemo and a successful surgery, Hames was released from the hospital. Within a year of leaving the hospital, Hames was able to do what was previously thought not to be possible, speak. He is now an energetic child who loves riding his bike, catching frogs and praying for others.

·         “Blake is such an inspirational kid,” said Bayne. “To think about everything that he went through at such a young age, it’s just incredible. I’m very excited to have him be with our team this weekend. I think the car looks awesome and I hope that we are able to give him the experience of a lifetime and get to take him to Victory Lane.”

·         “I am excited to meet Trevor because he gets paid to go fast!,” said Hames. “And I can’t believe that my picture is going to be on a race car.”

The Car

·         Crew chief Chad Norris brings chassis RK-816 to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. This is the first time this chassis will be raced.

Recapping Watkins Glen

·         Bayne took the green flag from the 16th position at Watkins Glen International and was able to overcome an early incident and an end of the longest line to penalty to record a 13th-place finish. With the result, Bayne ranks sixth in the championship standings and trails NNS leader Chase Elliott by 48 points.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Mid-Ohio:

“I’m excited to head back to Mid-Ohio this weekend. We ran really well there last season and I definitely want to end the last road course race of the season on a high note. We’ve had a fast No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang in the first two road course races of the season and I know that Chad (Norris) and everyone back at the shop will give me a great car again this weekend. I’m also thrilled to be a part of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Patient Champion program and to have Blake (Hames) with us this weekend. Hopefully we’ll give him a weekend he’ll cherish forever.”

Crew Chief Chad Norris on Mid-Ohio:

“Mid-Ohio is the last road course race of the season for us so we really want to end this part of the season strong. Our No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustangs have had some good speed in the earlier road course races and I’m confident that if we play the right strategy that we’ll come out with a great finish this weekend and make up some points on the guys in front of us.”
